Hey Christian, praise the Lord! <+><

Making The Word

Things you need:

1. Patience
2. Persistence
3. Prayer
4. The phone numbers, email and snail mail addresses of ALL your couple coordinators -- no matter if they live six days across the state.
5. Lots of friends to help you. If you don't have friends, now is a good time to make some. Just kidding, sheesh. ...

And then, of course there's the expected stories, ideas, pictures, software, what medium you want your newsletter to be -- usually print or online -- writers, editors, photographers, designers, and maybe even one or two webmasters. yfc illinois random pix

If you're the assigned leader of this project, know right now that you will most likely be doing most of the editing. In fact, you will probably be doing most of the work. You are very blessed if you already have a team behind you. For most YFC areas, it begins with one.

One who will be in charge of writing, editing, designing, taking pictures. One who will collaborate with coordinators and others who might want to write. One who will bring copies of the newsletter to meetings, one who will make those copies, and one who will design those copies on online or print format. yfc illinois random pix

A mode of evangelization where someone searching for God might surf your newsletter site in the dead of the night, so that no one can see. A form of service where most of your work will also be hidden. A finished web site or piece of paper that shows everyone involved your hard work, the stories of others, and most of all, God's love, who made the whole project possible.

Hopefully, beginning with you, those mentioned in the fourth paragraph will be your goal.

SETTING UP

pslam 27 By the way, if you're looking for design ideas -- why would you be looking in here?! Hehehe... but this is more on how to put more content on your site rather than how to make it look good. *Sigh*, we don't yet have the resources to make better-looking pages, but praise God for what we have! Here's a list of links for some ideas on where we get our backgrounds, fonts, colors and tricks.

Before you begin, ask yourself if you know what you're doing.

yfc illinois random pixNo matter how you do it, a newsletter is added work for you and your leaders. There will be a lot of sleepless nights -- literally. But the end product will be pretty to look at, a great souvenier for members and a valuable tool for evangelization.

It will remind you of at least some of the activities you've already done in the past. It will remind you of at least some of the things your members are learning while they are with YFC.

Think of it this way: YFC, whether in your state or out of state, will definitely set aside some time to read it. Even if it's the caption of one of your pictures, hehehe. ...

OKAY, SERIOUS NOW.

If you still want to do this, welcome to this page! This will be your very crude guide to how YFC-Illinois puts together its newsletter, The Word. Ready, get set. ...
