During the bilingual programme you will do a lot of projects, which have to do with English and / or culture. This page will be about some of the projects in the third grade. One of them is Philias Fogg, which is a theater group that teached us about Shakespaere. We also watched plays such as Romeo & Juliet and Othello performed by children of our school. We also went to the Nieuwe Kerk once to do a project on love symbols in art. Another church we went to was the Zuiderkerk in which we learned a lot about spatial planning. Those projects are nice because you learn something new in a different way.

The theatre group Philias Fogg teached us about Shakespaere and his plays. We were divided into groups and we had to wait till it was our turn to perform. When a group was performing the other groups were the crowd, so we learned also about how the crowd was at that time.

Another project we did was watching plays. Children from the school and from another school performed Romeo & Juliet and Othello for the whole school in the Stadsschouwburg. It is funny to see your own students performing.

The spatial planning project we did was for geography. We learned about the spatial planning of Amsterdam since about 1980. We made a tour through the building and again we learned a lot of new stuff.

The love symbols project for English was in the Nieuwe Kerk, because in the Nieuwe Kerk there was exhibition about love and art. We had to look at different paintings and other works of art and try to see symbols in them. An example is cupido standing for love.

So throughout the year you will do a lot of nice projects. They can be the same but there is a big chance that there will be a lot of other nice projects.
