Craft Fairs
We had many different craft items such as: Homemade candles, pet portrait greeting cards, rought iron candle stick holders, dog cookie mixes in a jar, and let's not forget all of the wondeful homemade dog biscuits that were packaged up for a "bag variety!" All of the items sold were crafted by our members!                                                                More Info/ Pictures...
Pizza Sales
The ACCW made more Dog-Gone good Pizzas to helped raise $430 for the upcoming Agility Year!
Thanks to all those who sold pizzas and help make them.  A BIG THANKS goes out to Casper Cake and Doughnut for letting us use their facility and food to make the pizzas!
It is teamwork like this that helps the Agility Club of Central Wyoming raise the funds needed for a successful and eventful year of seminars, fun matches and trials!                                                                                                  More Info/ Pictures...

NEW ASSOCIATE MEMBERS:  3

It's nice we made the rent, but best of all we made new friends.  Some I think we'll see in days to come, too.  Many people stepped in to help in so many different ways.  I think we had anatmosphere where people felt comfortable to try to help and I heard a lot of encouraging words to handlers.  There was definitely some whining and that's to be expected.
I want to go on record of how I was impressed at how we all - all of us - worked together as a team.  Those who had big jobs:
Megan, you were so encouraging to everyone.  It's fun when you're "the judge."  Athena, it was fun being on your team. Your patience as fun match chair was instrumental!  Denise, you were mixer chair and maybe had some fun?  Please tell your fastest dogs student helpers, wonderful job!  Gary (my husband) and Larry (his evil twin) never fail to amaze!  To Terry, you are so good on the food table, and to those who got us more food when we ran out, thanks!
Thank you to ALL of us; we all worked hard to make this happen. --Celia                                         More Info/ Pictures...

Club Events & Demos
Paint Party
It was a beautiful day, not too hot or cold, not too windy.  Member turnout was great, and the dogs who came also had an educational and fun time!  The contacts were painted (w/sand), and jump wings were constructed.  Some people ended up being painted, too, but nothing that wouldn't come off with soap and water!  Thanks to all, we had delicious food:  brats & burgers, beans, salads, desserts, and some Cinco De Mayo chips & dips!  These folks worked, played and laughed hard!  --Celia S.                                                                                                                                                         More Info/ Pictures...
Outdoor Sports Show
The ACCW participated in demonstrating and sharing agility knowledge with the public!  The Outdoor Sports Show combines Wyoming outdoor sports into one weekend.  This is where the public gets to learn fishing techniques, hunting skills, elk calling, rafting, hiking, baseball, soccer, and you guessed it DOG Sports!
This is our chance to get our community aware of responcible dog ownership by encouraging them to spend more time with their dog - giving the dog a JOB.
Along with demo work, we had a booth with documents for the public as well as a $100 raffle!  Our goal was to show the average dog owner that they too, can do this sport!                                                                               More Info/ Pictures...
Mall Demonstrations
Wow!! What a great time!!  Each member and dog that decided to come out to the mall sure put on a show!  We did agility, obedience, showed off talents, and just played.  The crowd was into it and enjoyed watching the performances.  Some members took their dogs around the crowd for socializing and many spectators loved to see the different breeds of dogs as well as their talents.  Hopefully this made some of them realize that they, too, can come out their with their dog and do the same things!
The seminar we held the next day proved that the mall demo was a success!                                      More Info/ Pictures...
Seminars and Fun Matches
Fred Brittain Seminar/ NADAC Fun Match
Fred Brattain is a nationally known and respected dog agility competitior.  His dog Kelsey, after only 18 months of training and one year of competition, competed in the 2001 NADAC North American Championships last September.  Fred has raised house pets, working stock dogs, and agility dogs as well as helping others to get the best out of their chosen dog.
The seminar was called "The Art and Joy of Winning at Gamblers".  It was about learning the game of Gamblers AND how to work with your dog at a distance.  Fred started out with easy distances, even letting us be closer than 10 feet and then by the afternoon we worked up to harder things.  We learned handling technique and strategies to compensate for handling errors.
We had a great time at the agility fun match in Casper.  Members of your club we have had contact with make us feel very welcome.  We look forward to seeing you and some of your members at County and State Fairs.  We also hope to attend your NADAC trial in August.
Thanks again for a great fun match!                --Jo Marie Paintin; FRAC Treasurer
