Kaci walks into Michael’s office, gets her phone, brings Kim the key back and then walks downstairs and outside to make her phone call.
“Hello?”
“¡Hey atractivo!” (Hey cutie!)
“¿Donde está?” (Where are you?)
“Estoy en la estación. Tengo que trabajar esta noche.” (I’m at the station. I have to work tonight.)
“¿Con su novio?” (With your boyfriend?)
“No. Chris.”
“Aceptable. ¿Es usted alambique cosecha yo encima de la mañana de lunes?” (Okay. Are you still picking me up Monday morning?)
“Por supuesto babe. Tengo algunos amigos que deseen satisfacerle, así que están viniendo con mí.” (Of course babe. I have some friends who want to meet you, so they are coming with me.)
“Bueno. No quisiera que usted fuera al aeropuerto solamente.” (Good. I don’t want you going to the airport by yourself.)
Michael comes rushing outside to find Kaci on the phone.
“Who you talking to?”
“I’m talking to my brother.”
“Give me the phone.”
“Puedo le llamo detrás más adelante, yo tengo gue ir.” (I will talk to you later, I have to go.)
“Aceptable.” (Okay.)
“Te amo.” (I love you.)
“También.” (Me too.)
Kaci hangs up with Miguel and hands the phone to Michael.
“Who was that?”
“I told you, it was Justin. Do you have a problem with me talking to my brother?”
“When you’re talking in Spanish, yes I do.”
“Well, you just better get over it! You knew from the start that J and I were close. If you think that you’re going to make me stop talking to him in Spanish, you’re not.”
“I never said that. I just don’t like you talking in Spanish around me.”
“Why? Do you think that I’m talking ABOUT you?” Kaci asks starting to get pissed off, taking her plan into action earlier than planned.
“No.”
“Good, because I don’t. I don’t even like talking in Spanish all that much, but my mom says that Justin and I should learn it since we’re living in Miami now. So we’re learning it. If you have a problem with me learning Spanish, then you might as well forget about us.”
Michael gives Kaci the most confused look she’s ever seen.
“Let’s just go back up to the studio so you can do the guest DJ stuff and then go back home.”
“Fine,” Kaci says with an attitude.
Michael starts walking back towards the building and turns around to find Kaci just standing in the parking lot.
“What’s wrong?”
“Can I at least call Justin back and tell him that I want to announce that he was in the hospital on the air?”
“Go ahead, just make it quick,” Michael says handing Kaci her phone.
Michael walks into the building and upstairs to the studio.
“Where’s Kaci?” Kim asks Michael when he comes back into the studio alone.
“Calling Justin back. I made her hang up on him.”
“Really?” Staci says.
“Yeah, I thought that she was talking to someone else because she was talking in Spanish, but apparently her and Justin are learning Spanish together.”
“Really?” Staci says again.
Staci walks over to Kory and pulls him into the call screening room.
“What’s up?” asks Kory.
“Kaci wasn’t talking to her brother. She’s known Spanish for a while. She was talking to Miguel.”
“Who’s Miguel?”
“He’s one of the baseball players for the Florida Marlins. Michael had this bright idea that Kaci would do a show from each home game and get an hour on his show for each game. She ended up meeting Miguel Cabrera and they’re planning on going out after her and Michael break up."
“OH SHIT!” Kory says really loud.
Kim excuses herself from talking to Michael and goes into the other room.
“What?” asks Kim.
“Did you know about Kaci?” asks Kory.
“What about her?”
“She knows. But you have to promise that you won’t say anything to anyone. Kim and I are the only ones that know about this,” Staci tells Kory.
Meanwhile, Kaci is on the phone with Jose.
“So are you going to put the radio on?”
“Yeah, and what time you leaving there?”
“Right after the countdown is over, why?”
“Do you think that you can stop by where I am?”
“If you don’t mind Staci and Kim being with me, then fine. I’ll just take A1A up to Boca.”
“I know it’s out of your way, but I don’t know where this place is I’m going to after I get off from here. I need directions Jess!”
“Fine, I’ll stop by, but I gotta go because I told Mike that I was calling Justin and he said to make it quick. I’ll see you later.”
“Okay, bye.”
Kaci hangs up with Jose and instead of calling Miguel back, she goes back up to the studio so she can do the guest DJing and then call Miguel back between going to see Jose and on the way to Radius.
“What’s up guys, why are you all in here and not in the studio?” Kaci asks when she walks in to the studio.
“We were talking and since Mike was on air, we didn’t want our conversation to be heard,” Staci explains.
“You were talking about me, weren’t you?”
“Well, considering we all think Mike already knows what’s going on and what you’re planning on doing, we came in here for your best interest,” says Kim.
“How would Mike know anything?” Kaci asks.
“I’ve been talking to him a lot today, especially since we got here. And today in general he’s noticed you being very distant. And he doesn’t think it’s because of Justin or because we found out about you two the way we did.”
“Yeah, we’re happy for you and Mike. We could tell that he was attracted to you the day we first met him. You two dating was no big surprise. We were just surprised you kept it from us for so long like you guys did.”
Michael goes off air and walks out of the studio.
“You guys can come in here you know!” Michael says.
“We know, we just didn’t want the door to slam shut while you were on air,” Kaci says walking up to Michael. “If you guys don’t mind, I’d like to talk to Michael for a minute. Kory, you know how to operate the stuff, don’t you?”
“I think I can handle it,” Kory says.
Everyone goes into the studio while Kaci and Michael stay behind.
“Do you mind if we go and talk in your office?”
“Not at all.”
Michael opens the studio door and sticks his head through.
“We’ll be in my office if you need me Kory.”
“Okay,” Kory says looking up from the soundboard.
Michael and Kaci walk back to his office. Michael shuts the door and Kaci sits in Michael’s chair and Michael sits in the same chair as he did earlier in the afternoon.
“So, what do you want to talk about?” Michael asks Kaci.
“I don’t get it Michael. Why do you try to show off when others are around us? Are you trying to prove something to them?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Tonight. You didn’t have to come outside. I was on the phone with my brother. You’ve always known that I was close to my brother. He’s the only one that understands where I’m coming from. My mom is losing it and with all that’s happening with her and my dad, you have to understand that Justin is the only family member that I really have right now.”
Kaci starts crying while talking to Michael about her mom and dad. Michael gets up and goes over to Kaci.
“Baby, I understand you. And tonight, I’ve never heard you talk to Justin in Spanish. The only person that I’ve heard you talk to in Spanish is Miguel on your show. I don’t mind it, seriously.”
“Well, I’m glad that you understand. But, would you have a problem if I hung out with Miguel and his sister away from the game?”
“Not at all, I think Miguel is cool. His sister seems like she really enjoys working with you too.”
“So you wouldn’t mind if I went to pick them up from the airport Monday?”
“With who? I don’t want you going by yourself.”
“Kim and Staci.
Just you three girls?”
“Yes.”
“I think that you should have a guy go with you! There are a bunch of weird people out there these days!”
“Well, who would you want to go with us? The plane arrives at 4:30.”
“I can go.”
“4:30 in the morning.”
“Oh, maybe not. Well, I know Kory wants to really get to know Staci, so why don’t you ask him to go with you guys?”
“I guess I can, but would he be up for it? We’re going to either Radius or Café Iguana before we go to pick up Miguel and Ruth.”
“No you’re not! I know you. You are not going to Radius or Café Iguana before!”
“Why?”
“You’ll get drunk and then … I don’t even want to think about it. You are not going to Radius or Café Iguana and that’s final.”
“You’re sounding just like my mother!”
“I’m glad because I don’t want to lose you because of your stupidity.”
“Whatever Michael,” Kaci says as she gets up and goes back to the studio.
Michael follows Kaci making sure that his door is locked.
“Look who just walked back in! Michael, that was an awfully long time to get some chips!” Kory says trying to cover for Michael.
“Uh, yeah, you guys wouldn’t believe this, but the chips got stuck and I had to fight with the machine!” Michael says trying to hold back a laugh.
“Hey, it’s Kaci Roman.”
“And Staci Salvucci.”
“And Kim Carter.”
