Jose and Tyler are at Kaci’s house finishing packing up the last of his stuff when Jose gets a phone call from Kaci.
“Hey! How’s LA?”
“It’s okay. I need to talk to you.”
“About what?”
“Are you busy?”
“Kinda. I’m at your house finishing packing so that I can move in with Tyler.”
“Is Justin home?”
“Not that I know of. He might be in the guest house, but he isn’t here in the main house, at least not that I know of.”
“Is anybody in the main house?”
“Not now, no. Your mom was here when I got here. What’s with the questions?”
“I’m just curious, that’s all.”
“Alright, well, I’m going to get back to packing. Call me later?”
“Yeah, definitely.”
Kaci and Jose hang up and Kaci calls Justin.
“Where are you?”
“Look who is saying it now!”
“Shut up! Seriously, I need to know where you’re at!”
“Why?”
“Because Jose is at the house and I need you to get the key he has from him.”
“You break up with him?”
“I was going to, and then he told me that nobody was in the house.”
“I’m in the guest house working on songs. I’ll go up to the house and get the key from him.”
“Alright, thanks. Just tell him that because he is moving out that you need the key back. Call me back when you get the key and he is out of the house and can’t come back. I’m out and about in Los Angeles today hanging out with Pete.”
“Alright, we’ll talk when I call you back.”
Kaci and Justin hang up with each other just as Pete is walking out of the Coffee Bean with a drink for him and Kaci.
“So what happened?” Pete asks handing Kaci her drink.
“I was not about to let him be in that house alone, so nothing happened. I called Justin to get the key from him and so when I hear back from Justin then I can call him and let him know.”
“So I can’t ask you to be my girl yet?”
“No,” Kaci says, disappointed, yet pleased that Pete got the hint she gave him.
“What is Alex going to think?”
“I don’t care. I know he isn’t going to be happy. I do need to go back to his house though. I have clothes there that he bought me. But he has to take me back to Florida too, so I can’t spend ALL my time with you.”
“I understand, but you’ll be back out here to record, won’t you?”
“I was going to record the album in Florida, but I don’t know. If I can get Justin to come out here with me, then I will be doing some of the recording here.”
“What does Justin have to do with you recording your album?”
“He’s co-writing and producing it. I kinda need him to be where I am when I’m recording the album.”
“Oh, I see. Well, you both can stay with me if he is able to come out here so you can record out here and see me!”
“Well, I would have to inform Latium that I want to record out here because it was going to be recorded at the studio at the house!”
“Well shit, you’re making it sound like you don’t want to come out here to record!”
“Honestly, I don’t, but I will if I have to.”
“Patrick has a studio at his house, you can record there. I’m sure it’s similar to the one that you guys have.”
“Aren’t we supposed to be going to his house?”
“Yeah, I gotta call him before we head on over there.”
“Well, do you think I could check out his studio while we are there?”
“I wouldn’t see why you couldn’t.”
“Alright, so let’s go there now so that way when I talk to Justin I could see if he would come out to LA.”
“Sounds like a plan to me.”
Pete and Kaci leave the Coffee Bean to head over to Patrick Stump’s house.
“Yeah?” Patrick says answering his phone.
“We’re on our way.”
“Alright, I’ll see you when you get here.”
“Hey, can Jess get a tour of the studio?”
“I guess. There’s nothing to it though!”
“Well, I just want her to see it. Is that cool?”
“Yeah, why?”
“I’ll tell you when we get there.”
“Alright, let me go get the pass for you. I’ll see you when you get here.”
Pete hangs up with Patrick and him and Kaci head on over to Patrick’s house.
“I don’t need a tour of a studio babe, I know what one looks like!”
“I didn’t mean it like that! I just want you to see his studio to see if you want to, you know, come stay out in California for a while and record,” Pete says with a big grin looking at Kaci.
“Well, I’m supposed to go into the studio when I get home, so that would mean I would go back to Florida and come right back out to California. Oh that’s going to piss Alex off big time because he expects me to move in to the house he is buying in West Palm!”
“He doesn’t have to know that you are visiting me! Nobody has to know!”
“People will find out though!”
“So let them find out, they don’t need to be told! And don’t give me no crap about your dad or anything like that. You will be under the watchful eye of your big brother!”
“Yeah, and that would be the only way he would let me come back out here! I know you heard me tell Justin what I did last night!”
“That I did. Your dad is quite weird!”
“Yeah well, that’s where I get it from!” Kaci says sticking her tongue out at Pete.
“But you are good weird, your dad is just WEIRD!”
“Anyways, I’d rather not sit here with you and talk about my DAD!”
“I’d rather not talk about that either,” Pete says grabbing Kaci’s hand as he drives. “And I’d rather you not bring up Alex or Jose or anybody else like that either. I want you to be MY girl, not theirs!”
Pete and Kaci arrive at Patrick’s house to get the pass for Kaci for Saturday’s release party and see Patrick’s studio at his house. Kaci shows herself the studio while Patrick has a conversation with Pete.
“So, why do I need to show your girl my studio?” Patrick asks Pete.
“Because I want her out here to record her album and see me. Otherwise she will record it in Florida.”
“What’s so bad about recording it in Florida? Isn’t that where she is from anyways?”
“Yeah, but Alex is moving to Florida and well, we all know how that will end up if I don’t get her out to California more often.”
“Are you threatened by Alex?”
“I know he has a way of getting what he wants when it comes to Jess. I tried to get her back when she came back from Europe, but with Alex having his hold on her, I never did get her back.”
“So what’s different now?”
“I guess everything. She’s the one hinting that she wants to be with me again, and I surely don’t have a problem with that.”
“So what’s stopping you?”
“She has a boyfriend.”
“You’re crazy Pete!”
“Crazy about Jess!”
“That’s nice to know,” Kaci says walking in on Pete and Patrick’s conversation.
“Well it’s the truth!” Pete says. “So what do you think?”
“Honestly, I would prefer my studio at home, nothing against you Patrick, but I wouldn’t mind recording a few songs out here, if you don’t mind me using your studio.”
“I don’t mind, I would just need to know when,” Patrick says to Kaci.
“I’m not sure. I have to talk it over with my brother. Pete wants me to come right back, but with Justin’s birthday being right before you guys leave for the tour, I don’t know if that would work or not. How long is the tour anyways?”
“A couple months, I think.”
“Yeah, I have to talk it over with Justin. I would say I could stay here, but Alex has my BMW at his mom’s house, so I need to go back to Florida like I’m supposed to. But if Justin agrees, we could spend a week out here, if that’s okay with you guys.”

Patrick agrees to let Kaci use his studio for a week if she can convince Justin to fly to California with her before his birthday. Kaci and Pete leave Patrick’s house and head back out to venture in Los Angeles.
