While Pete and Kaci are out and about in Los Angeles, Justin calls his sister.
“Hey!” Kaci says answering her phone, looking at Pete with a smile on her face.
“You busy?” Justin asks.
“Nope, we’re just walking around window shopping really.”
“You mean to tell me that you haven’t stopped by Ed Hardy’s and bought the whole store yet?”
“Oh no, I already went to Ed Hardy’s! I did that the second I got here to LA!”
“Figures. Well, I thought that I would let you know that I went up to the house and talked to Jose. He was pretty understanding about returning the key.”
“Awesome,” Kaci says smiling at Pete. “You busy?”
“Just hanging out in the studio working on trying to finish this song I’ve been working on, why?”
“Well, would you come to LA with me when I get back?”
“What?!” Justin says confused.
“When I get back home from Los Angeles, will you fly back out here with me?”
“What for?”
“To record. I already found a studio that we can use, I just need you to come out here. Would you Justin, please?”
“You mean like you get home, and you head right back out to LA?”
“Yes! I got a place to stay and a studio. Everything is set up, I just need you here for me to record.”
“Well, I guess so. It’s just a week, right?”
“Well, I come back on the fifth, and we would fly back out here on the sixth. You’d be home in time for your party, and then after your party I’m flying to Chicago.”
“I guess so. Do I have to buy a plane ticket? How are we getting out to LA?”
“I’ll handle that, just you handle dad.”
“Yeah, leave the easy stuff for you to do and give me the hard things to handle.”
“You’re better at convincing dad than I am!”
“Yeah, that’s why he let you fly to LA with Alex!”
“Um no, he let me fly to LA with Nick and Kaley.”
“Oh, I see. So you lied to him to go to LA.”
“No, not necessarily. I had to come out here anyways, just who I came out here with he doesn’t need to know the truth.”
“Well, I won’t say anything, but you better hope he doesn’t find out that you lied to him so you could spend more time with Alex.”
“Yeah, that’s why I’m with Pete right now, right?”
“Well, he didn’t like him either.”
“Let’s not get into that!” Kaci says rolling her eyes. “So we’re on for coming to LA when I get home and you have the key, that’s all I need to know. I will see you when I get home.”
“Do you need me to pick you up from the airport?”
“No. My BMW is at Denise’s house, so I am driving back and Alex is staying with Denise until he finds a house in West Palm. He doesn’t know about me coming back out to LA, so please, if you talk to him, don’t mention anything. I haven’t seen him since yesterday afternoon, so you don’t know where I am, got it?”
“Yeah, okay. Just keep me updated.”
“Oh and don’t tell anybody about us going to LA when I get back. I don’t need anybody knowing what I am doing.”
“Yes ma’am. I’ll talk to you later, go have fun with Pete, tell him I said hi.”
“Alright. We will talk later.”
Kaci and Justin hang up with each other and Kaci informs Pete of what just transpired.
“One more obstacle and then…”
“And then I get you as my girl!”
“Oh and I guess you overheard that Justin and I are going to be coming back out here. So I guess you should let Patrick know it’s a go on the studio time and you need to get the guest room at your place set up for Justin.”
“Yeah, but those things can wait.”
“Oh, Justin brought up a good point. How are we going to get back out to LA? Neither of us have the money to buy a plane ticket!”
“Do you have a friend that I could stay with?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Well, if I go with you, we could take the jet back to LA. I’ll fly out from here on the fifth.”
“Well, if you want, you can fly into Orlando and once I get my BMW back, I can pick you up and we can drive back to West Palm and I can drop you off at Feco’s house and you can stay there.”
“Alright, let’s get back to the house so I can call the company and get the jet for the sixth.”
Kaci and Pete head back to his house. When they get back to Pete’s house, Kaci calls Jose to end things with him.
“Can we talk?” Kaci asks when Jose answers his phone.
“I’m kinda busy right now.”
“Well, I’ll make it quick.”
“Make what quick?”
“I have to move out here to Los Angeles. We can’t be together any more.”
“Is it for business?”
“Yeah. I’m sorry, it’s just this is so important to me, you know that, and I am literally coming back, packing and leaving all within twenty-four hours.”
“Well, will I get to see you at least to say bye and good luck?”
“Honestly, I have no idea.”
“I should have seen this coming.”
“Don’t say that! I still care about you, I’m still your friend, I just can’t be your girlfriend! And if you must know, I was pretty insistent about getting you a job.”
“Job doing what?”
“My manager, but if you are going to be an ass about me breaking things off with you for my career, then I will find someone else to be my manager. I will let you sit on that and let it marinate with you. I will talk to you when I get back to West Palm. I have to go now.”
Kaci hangs up without even giving Jose an opportunity to respond.
“He is such an ass!”
“Woah! Why do you say that?”
“He said ‘I should have seen this coming’! Who the hell says that?!”
“I’m sorry baby, but look on the bright side, at least you have someone who wants you and understands you and knows what you’re going through.”
“I guess you have a point there.”
