Kaci and Jose arrive at the Shell station on Linton and Congress.
“Tyler!” Jose says getting out of the Trailblazer.
“Where’s your girl Chino?” Tyler says returning Jose’s handshake.
“In the truck. Chill the fuck out and get out and go over there if you want to meet her!”
Tyler gets out of his mom’s van and goes over to Justin’s Trailblazer to the driver’s side.
“So you must be Jessica,” Tyler says after Kaci rolls down the window.
“Yeah, which must mean you’re Tyler,” Kaci says returning Tyler’s handshake.
“That would be me. What are y’all up to later tonight?”
“I’m not sure. His mom is all up his ass today and I gotta work until six and I don’t know what my brother is up to tonight. Why?”
“Well, there’s this club up in West Palm and I have VIP tonight and need more people to go!”
“How many people do you need?”
“How many can you get?”
“Well, there’s me, Chino, Justin, Angela, Staci, Kim, Kory, Jackie, Luke, Krystal. That sounds about right.”
“Perfect! Have Jose call me after you get off work to let me know exactly who all is going to come tonight.”
“Okay, cool. Where’d Chino go?”
“Into the gas station to get his hungry ass some food.”
“Hungry ass? Where you from?” asks Kaci.
“Born in Queens, New York and just moved from Chicago down to here a couple years ago. Why?”
“Are you serious? I’m from Chicago! North or Southside?”
“North. What about you?”
“North. The best are from there, don’t you know?!”
“Fo sho!”
“Oh my god! Your Chicago-ness is coming out!” Kaci says laughing.“So what do you do?”
“I work at Bank of America. I want out of there so bad though.”
“What are you capable of doing?”
“What do you mean?”
“Angela can get you a job. What are you capable of doing?”
“Where does Angela work?”
“Latium Entertainment. There’s different parts, like promotions, management, production and a record company.”
“I can do pretty much anything. What would I be doing if I went to work at Latium?”
“I’m sure she would get you something with me. If not, I can make them put you on my crew since I’m not signing unless Angela is on my crew.”
“Oh, awesome! Count me in!”
“Okay. I’ll have you talk to Angela tonight before we get all fucked up! Wait, you’re only 20, what club is this?”
“I know the owner, he’s my next door neighbor. Every month he gives me VIP access to the club, so don’t worry. If anyone is under 21, they are covered, as long as I have them on my VIP list.”
“Cool! But that didn’t answer my question! What club is it?”
“This club called Monkey Club.”
“Are you serious? I go there with my homeboy Valentine every week! He works for Clear Channel too but at WiLD 95.5 in West Palm.”
“Is he the one that looks like Ryan Cabrera?”
“Yeah,” Kaci says laughing.
“Oh, I hung out with him there before. I don’t remember you though!”
“When did you hang with Valentine?”
“Like three or four months ago.”
“That’s why! I couldn’t do shit with anyone the past three or four months! I was surprised I got to go out last night!”
“Parents that strict?” asks Tyler.
“No, it’s not my parents. Actually, my parents don’t really care. It was actually my ex who fucked up Chino’s car!”
“Oh yeah, he said his car got all fucked up because he was with you.”
“That was not my fault!” Kaci says as her phone rings. “Hey, I gotta take this call, it’s my boss,” Kaci says to Tyler.
“Okay, I’ll go get Jose and tell him to hurry up.”
“Okay, thanks,” Kaci says answering her phone. “Hey Chris.”
“Hey Kaci. Where are you?”
“I went to the store with Jose since Justin wasn’t ready yet and we ran into one of his friends.”
“Oh, okay. I was starting to get worried since I hadn’t heard from you. Did you talk to Doug?”
“Yeah, he called me and told me that you had fired Michael.”
“Okay. I thought you didn’t know and that’s why you weren’t here yet.”
“Oh no, I know, it’s just I had to go pick Jose back up from his house and then his mom asked if he would go get a couple things for her. We’re on our way back to his house as soon as he pays for the stuff.”
“Okay. Is Justin still coming with you?”
“I don’t know. I know he wants to come but if he or Angela isn’t ready, then I guess they’re coming on their own.”
“Okay. If Justin isn’t coming with you and it’s just Jose, let me know and I will tell the girls up front he has an appointment with you so you can go get him and bring him back to the studio.”
“Okay, I’ll play it off. And I’ll let Jose know as well.”
“Alright. So how long are you going to be?”
“Well, we have to drop this stuff off at his mom’s and then go see if Justin is ready. Do I have about an hour?”
“That’s pushing it but you got an hour and a half.”
“Okay, I’ll be super fast! But we’re ready to head back to his mom’s now, so I will see you soon.”
“Okay Kaci. I’ll see you when you get here.”
Kaci and Chris hang up with each other right when Jose and Tyler are heading back to the Trailblazer.
“Who was that?” Jose asks Kaci.
“Chris. I didn’t realize what time it was I have like an hour to get to work!”
“Oh, well, then we have to go. We’ll see you later Tyler. I’ll give you a call when Jess gets off work.”
“Alright. It was good meeting you and I’ll see you guys tonight,” Tyler says heading back to his mom’s van.
“What did you have to get from him for your brother?” Kaci asks Jose.
“Nothing. He just wanted to meet you and I didn’t want my mom to be all nosy and shit.”
“So then why did we have to go get Justin’s Trailblazer?”
“That’s what I told him you would be driving!”
“Oh you’re a sneaky little bitch!” Kaci says pushing Jose.
“Yeah well, you know. But you still love me!”
“That I do,” Kaci says getting into the Trailblazer. “Lets go, I need to get to work.”
Kaci and Jose leave and go back to her house to pick Justin and Angela up.
“I’m back,” Kaci says walking into the house.
“Hey guys,” Angela says walking down the stairs.
“Is Justin ready?”
“Not yet. He just got out of the shower.”
“What the hell Angela! I told you guys to be ready to leave when I got back!” Kaci says pissed off at both Angela and her brother.
“Sorry! We lost track of the time! He’ll be ready soon!”
“He can take you then. I have to get to work. Just call me when you get there, we gotta leave now.”
“Jess, I said I was sorry!”
“Just have Justin call me when you guys are leaving. I’m taking the F-150, here’s his keys,” Kaci says throwing Justin’s keys at Angela.
“What’s the problem Jess?”
“I gotta go. I’ll see you and my brother at the station. Make it there within the hour or don’t come.”
Kaci goes upstairs and gets her keys to the Beamer and F-150 and then leaves with Jose to go to the station.
“Hey Chris, it’s Kaci.”
“Hey. Who’s coming?”
“It’s just me and Jose.”
“Okay. I’ll let the girls up front know. What happened to Justin and Angela?”
“Thanks Chris. They weren’t ready, so we left. I wasn’t about to wait around for Justin to get ready.”
“Oh, I see. Well, I’ll let you go so you can get here. Let Jose know his appointment is for 1:45pm.”
“Okay Chris. I’ll see you when we get there. You still have Hayley, right?”
“Yes, she’s right here with me.”
“Okay, I will see you soon then!”
Kaci and Chris hang up with each other. Kaci then tells Jose the plan to have him in the studio with her.
“Chris gave you a 1:45pm appointment with me, so when we get there, you gotta go in through the lobby and tell them you have an appointment with me but I’ll come out looking for you.”
“Oh, okay. So I ask for Jessica?”
“No, you would ask for Kaci.”
“Why would I ask for Kaci? They don’t know you as Jessica?”
“They do, but there’s like five Jessica’s there, so it’s easier if you ask for Kaci.”
“Oh, okay, that makes sense now.”
Kaci and Jose arrive to the station just in time for her way to get Jose into the studio to work.
“Hey Woody,” Kaci says walking in through the employee entrance.
“Hey! What happened with you and Mike? I heard he was fired today.”
“He was. We broke up last night and then he fucked up my friends’ car and so he’s being arrested and Chris fired him. But hey, I gotta go, my 1:45 appointment is here,” Kaci says pointing at Jose.
“Okay. I’ll see you later then.”
Kaci walks into the lobby to get Jose for his appointment.
“Hey Jose,” Kaci says extending her hand like it really is a business appointment. “My brother and my friend Angela are supposed to be coming. Can you call the studio hotline when they get here and let me know and I will come down and get them?”
“Sure thing Jessica.”
“Thanks. He doesn’t need a visitor’s pass does he?” Kaci says pointing to Jose.
“Just take one just in case,” Melinda says handing a visitor’s pass to Kaci for Jose.
“What about my brother and Angela?”
“I’ll give them one when they get here when you come down to get them.”
“Okay. If he calls, you can put him up to the studio hotline.”
Kaci turns around and takes Jose back into Clear Channel and takes him the back way to the studio.
“I’ll show you around, I just gotta let Chris know I’m here and get Hayley from him.”
“Oh, okay,” Jose says following Kaci.
Kaci walks into the studio and over to Chris, who is getting ready to go on air.
“Hey Chris,” Kaci says hugging Chris.“You remember Jose from last night, don’t you?”
“Yeah, nice to see you again,” Chris says extending his hand to Jose.
“You too,” Jose says returning Chris’s handshake.
“Sorry to hear about your car man.”
“Thanks.”
“Where’s my baby Chris?”
“She’s over there in the corner sleeping,” Chris says pointing to the corner where Hayley is curled up sleeping.
“Do you need me for the top of the hour or can I go show Jose around now?”
“I need you and then you can show him around, if you don’t mind.”
“That’s fine. There’s nothing really to Clear Channel that’s really that important and can’t wait!” Kaci says sitting down, putting her headphones on and pulling the mic up to her. “Now you can see what I get to do every day!” Kaci says to Jose.
Chris goes on air for the top of the hour and Kaci joins him.
“What’s up, it’s Chris Marino checking in with you at 2pm and if you guys were listening yesterday to the show and last night to Michael Yo then you might remember her. I have Kaci Roman with me in the studio all day today!”
“Hey Chris. I’m glad to be back joining your show today!” Kaci says starting off with a laugh.
“So Kaci will be taking your requests this afternoon, so get your requests in to 866-645-Y100.”
“Chris, lets start this show! How about a little Britney to kick things off?”
“Okay, we’ll kick off with Britney and be sure to get those requests in. Here’s Britney with ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’ on Y100!”
Chris turns the mics off and starts working on production for later in the show.
“I’ll be back Chris. This shouldn’t take very long.”
“Alright Kace.”
Kaci and Jose leave the studio and Kaci gives Jose a tour of Clear Channel.
“And that’s about it,” Kaci says going back up the stairs to the studio.
Jose and Kaci go back into the studio.
“There’s my baby,” Kaci says kneeling down to pick up Hayley.
“So what’d you think of the place?” Chris asks Jose.
“It’s big but Jess was right, there’s nothing special about it.”
“I’m gonna go answer the phones,” Kaci says as she pets Hayley and goes into the call screening room.
“I think I’ll go with Jess,” Jose says following Kaci.
Kaci shuts the door behind her after her and Jose go into the call screening room.
“I guess you can sit on the couch,” Kaci says. “Or if you want a chair you can pull the one in the studio in here.”
“The couch is fine. I’m sure if Justin and Angela show up, they’d want the couch, but I’m fine right now,” Jose says as Hayley lies down in his lap.“Awe, she likes you!” Kaci says when she sees Hayley in Jose’s lap. “Good, cause I like you too!” Kaci says with a big smile on her face.
All of a sudden, the phones start ringing like crazy. Kaci goes back into the studio.
“Did you do a contest that I don’t know about?” Kaci asks Chris as she walks over to the board.
“No, why?”
“The phones just all of a sudden went crazy like they do when we do a contest!”
“Maybe I played the secret song of the day? I have no idea! Go on the website and see!”
“If you say so!” Kaci says going back into the call screening room.
Kaci goes on Y100’s website to the “Secret Song of the Day” part and sees that the secret song was “Drowning” by the Backstreet Boys.
“Did you just play the Backstreet Boys?” Kaci asks poking her head into the studio.
“Yeah, why?”
“It was the secret song of the day! How do I answer the phones? I’ve never had to do that before!”
“Just answer it like you would with no contest. They have to know it was the Backstreet Boys and be caller 100 to win.”
“Okay, if you say so!” Kaci says then goes and starts answering the phones.
“Y100 hello.”
“Yes, hi, what caller am I?”
“You’re caller number one, please try again,” Kaci says then hangs up.
“Y100 hello.”
“Hi, can I request a song?”
“Sure you can, what song do you want to hear?”
“That song by J.Roman.”
“Which song is that sweetie? Do you want his solo single or the single with Vi3?”
“Can I request both?”
“Sure you can sweetie! What’s your name?”
“Amanda.”
“Where you from Amanda?”
“Boca Raton.”
“How old are you?”
“Yesterday was my birthday and I turned 21.”
“Can you hold on a second?”
“For what? All I wanted was to request a song!”
“I need to ask Chris Marino if we can play both songs for you!”
“Oh, okay. I guess I could.”
“Great! Give me a minute!”
Kaci puts Amanda on hold and goes and talks to Chris.
“Hey, are you playing Vi3 or Justin’s solo song anytime during the show?”
“Yeah, in like an hour for one and at the end for the other.”
“Okay, do you have an intro for both of them?”
“Yeah, they both have intros.”
“Can Justin do them? There’s this girl on line six requesting both and it’s her birthday.”
“Oh, I get you! Yeah, if Justin is here, he can definitely do that!”
“Okay. Thanks Chris,” Kaci says then goes back into the call screening room.
“Why’d you put that girl on hold?”
“I’m adding her to the guest list for Monkey Club tonight.”
“Oh, okay,” Jose says then goes back to playing with Hayley.
“You still there Amanda?” Kaci asks picking up line six.
“Yeah.”
“Okay, I talked to Chris and he said we have both songs coming up in his show. But I want to get your information.”
“Okay, why is that?”
“There’s a few reasons. We had a secret song play so I can give you that prize and I want to invite you to Monkey Club in West Palm Beach tonight.”
“Oh awesome!”
Kaci turns around and hands Jose a piece of paper for Chris.
“Can you bring that in to Chris for me?” Kaci asks Jose.“I need an answer right now.”
“Okay,” Jose says getting up with Hayley.
Jose brings the paper to Chris.
“Yes,” Chris says reading the note.
“Okay, so I’ll need a little information from you and I also have a surprise for you, if you’re up to it.”
“Okay. What’s the surprise?”
“Are you able to make it down here to the studio by 4pm?”
“I don’t know where the studio is!”
“Well, it’s not that hard to find. Do you live by the Turnpike or 95?”
“Its equal distance either way.”
“Okay, so just take the Turnpike to exit 47 and take the NW 27 Avenue/University Drive exit ramp and at the light go straight and the building is near the end of the road. Turn in at the entrance with the Clear Channel sign and park in the visitor parking.”
“Oh, okay, is that by the stadium?”
“Yeah, it’s the exit before the stadium.”
“Okay, I know where it is then.”
“Great! Now I just need your information for this prize.”
“Okay. My name is Amanda Johanson, my address is 4733 Willow Brook Lane, Boca Raton, 33433.”
“Oh my god, I know where that is! That’s the next street over from me!”
“Seriously?”
“Yeah! Oh, we’ll have to talk when you get here.”
“Okay, awesome!”
“Okay Amanda. You have a 4pm appointment with me. I will see you when you get here, okay?”
“Alright. Who do I ask for when I get there?”
“Oh, I thought you knew! You’re going to tell Melinda that you have a 4pm appointment with Kaci.”
“Kaci Roman?”
“Yes. You’ll tell Melinda you have the appointment and she’ll call up to me here in the studio and either I’ll come down or I’ll send someone that’s up here with me to come down and get you.”
“Oh, awesome. I’ll see you at 4pm then!”
“Great! Oh and one of your songs comes on within an hour, so be sure to be listening!”
“Awesome! Oh, wait, what about Monkey Club?”
“I’ll let you know when you get here,” Kaci says then looks down at the information sheet.
“Oh wait, I need your phone number.”
“Oh, okay. Its 561-738-7106.”
“Okay, thanks Amanda. I’ll see you at 4pm!”
Kaci hangs up with Amanda and calls down to Melinda.
“I have someone coming in at 4pm.”
“Okay, I’ll call up when they get here.”
“Thanks. Is Justin and Angela here yet?”
“No, not yet.”
“Oh, okay.”
“Wait, they just got here.”
“Okay, I’ll be down in a minute to get them. Just tell them to have a seat.”
Kaci hangs up with Melinda and goes into the studio.
“Justin and Angela are here. I’m going to go down and get them real quick with Jose.”
“Okay. Hey Kace,” Chris says.
“Yeah?”
“You can’t be doing this kind of stuff every time someone calls like that.”
“I know. It turns out she lives on Willow Brook Lane.”
“But still Kace, I can’t have you doing it all the time. Jose, Justin, Angela and who you were with last night at Radius is one thing, but I can’t have you inviting everyone here.”
“Okay Chris, I understand.”
“Okay. Go get Justin and Angela.”
Kaci gets Hayley from Jose and they go downstairs to get Justin and Angela.
“Hey guys,” Kaci says walking out to the lobby.
“Hey,” Justin says kissing his sister on the cheek.
“Oh Melinda, my 4pm appointment, her name is Amanda Johanson.”
“Okay. I’ll call up when she gets here.”
“Thanks!” Kaci says then takes Justin and Angela back. “Okay, this is Clear Channel,” Kaci says to Angela.“I’ll show you around later after everyone leaves so I don’t get bitched at by the assholes that work here.”
“Its okay, I don’t mind,” Angela says laughing.
“I’ll take you up the main stairs though,” Kaci says taking Jose’s hand with Hayley in her other.
“So why didn’t you wait for us?” Justin asks his sister.
“I couldn’t. I had to get here and we got here just in time.”
“Oh, well you could have told me!”
“Ugh Justin, I did tell you! Just forget it!”
“Fine Jess.”
Jose’s cell phone rings and its Tyler so he answers it.
“Hey man, what’s up?”
“Hey, have you and Jess finalized that list for tonight at Monkey?”
“No, not yet, why?”
“The owner needs the list by 7pm, but preferably before then.”
“Oh, well, there’s one person we gotta talk to but can’t until like 4pm. I can get it to you after that.”
“Who you gotta talk to?”
“This girl Amanda that Jess knows.”
“Oh, okay. Well, call me before 7pm then!”
“Yeah, definitely. But hey, I’m in the studio with Jess, so I gotta go.”
“Oh, okay. Have fun and call me later,” Tyler says then hangs up.
