Kaci knocks on Justin’s bedroom door and Angela gets up and answers Justin’s door.
“What’s up?”
“Is Justin still up?”
“Yeah.”
“I need to talk to him.”
“Come in,” Angela says opening the door for Kaci to come in.
“I’d rather talk to him alone, if you don’t mind.”
“Oh, no problem. Be right back.”
Angela goes and gets Justin up to talk to his sister. Justin reluctantly gets up and goes to his bedroom door.
“What do you want?”
“Can I talk to you?”
“Now? It’s 5:30 in the morning!”
“I know, but you need to know this.”
Justin goes out into the hall to talk to Kaci.
“What do I need to know?”
“Michael just called and started yelling at me, so I broke up with him, but he’s saying he’s coming over to the house.”
“That’s what he thinks!” Justin says laughing.
“So can I borrow the Trailblazer to go to work?”
“What will I drive then?”
"The truck will be here with the sunpass and the Beamer will be here, but I’m giving the sunpass to Jose so him and Angela can go down to the station tomorrow and see me.”
“Jose? What ever happened to him?”
“I saw him earlier today when you were in the emergency room and he came to Radius after he got off work.”
“And he’s in your room, isn’t he?”
“Angela!”
“Don’t worry. I liked him, I won’t tell mom and dad. And they’re leaving to go to Orlando at seven, so have him leave after they do.”
“Thank you Justin!” Kaci says hugging her brother. “Oh, and me and Jose are back together, just so you know.”
“It’s about time, but let me get back to sleep. We still doing the album tomorrow?”
“I gotta work until six and then we shall see. If not, we got this weekend.”
“Okay. Tell Jose not to worry!”
“Okay. Goodnight Justin. Tell Angela that Jose will pick her up to go to the station.”
“Goodnight Jess,” Justin says going back into his room.
Kaci goes back to her room, shuts her door and locks it.
“Justin knows you’re here,” Kaci says walking back to her bed.
“What?!”
“Don’t worry. He doesn’t care. He said he is glad we got back together. Oh and that my parents are going to Orlando at seven, so you gotta stay until after they leave.”
“Oh. Okay,” Jose says giving Kaci a kiss.
“And what was that for?”
“Just because… Just because I love you,” Jose says kissing Kaci again.
“I love you too Jose,” Kaci says kissing Jose. “I’m so glad we got back together! I really missed you!” Kaci says kissing Jose again.
“Me too! I thought I would never see you again!”
Kaci and Jose make out for a while and eventually fall asleep. Kaci is woken up by Justin banging on her door.
“Jess, open your door!”
“Hold on Justin!” Kaci says getting out of bed and walking over to and opening her door.
“What do you want?”
“We need to talk,” Justin says grabbing Kaci and pulling her out into the hallway.
“What?!”
“Mom and dad are gone, but I think you should know that Michael was here when they left.”
“Are you serious?”
“Yes I am. I think you should get Jose up!”
“What does this have to do with Jose?”
Justin takes Kaci downstairs and outside.
“This is why Jess,” Justin says showing Kaci what Michael did.
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
Kaci goes back inside and upstairs to her room and wakes Jose up.
“Get up! We have a problem!” Kaci says, her voice in panic.
“What’s wrong?” Jose asks, worried about his girlfriend.
“Just get up and get dressed.”
“Why?”
“Just hurry up and do it, please,” Kaci says starting to cry.
“What’s wrong?” Jose asks, holding Kaci in his arms.
“Just get dressed quick and come down when you’re dressed. Everyone’s up and downstairs so look halfway decent,” Kaci says.
Kaci walks out of her room and downstairs while Jose gets dressed. Jose goes downstairs and sees Kaci crying on the couch.
“Baby, what’s wrong?”
“We need to press charges.”
“Press charges? What are you talking about?”
Justin walks over to where Kaci and Jose are. Angela follows, with a glass of water for Kaci.
“Thanks Ang,” Kaci says through tears.
“Baby, what’s wrong? Why you crying and why do we need to press charges and against who?”
“Jose, Michael showed up here this morning, before our parents left.”
“Okay, so what does that have to do with me?”
“Your car has been vandalized, and both Angela and I saw him do it. He also took Jess’ Chihuahua.”
“He did WHAT?!” Kaci says pissed off and in shock.
“He took Hayley. Mom and dad let him in and apparently you locked Hayley out of your room last night, so he took her. Mom and dad didn’t know about you two breaking up.”
“Did you call the cops?”
“Yes, they’re on their way.”
There’s a knock on the front door and it’s the Boca Raton Police Department.
“Hello officer,” Justin says opening the front door, letting the cop in.
“Good morning,” says the cop.
“Come in, sit down, do what you need to in order to have him arrested and get the car fixed at his expense and my sister’s Chihuahua back,” Justin says closing the front door and joining everyone in the living room.
“I need you to tell me everything that happened leading up to the current situation and what happened after the suspect arrived,” the cop says taking out his pad and pen to write information down.
“I guess I’ll start,” Kaci says.
“His name is Michael Jeremiah Yo and he was my boyfriend. He called me, and I was talking to Jose who I haven’t seen in like four months, so I had Jose answer the phone and he started harassing him, so I took the phone and tried to talk to Michael and he started harassing me, so I broke up with him and he begged for me not to, but so much led up to me breaking up with him that I wasn’t going to get back with him. And before I took the phone from Jose, he threatened to show up here and hurt him, which was when I took the phone.”
“I’m sorry to but in, but would you like anything to drink? Water, soda, Kool-Aid?” asks Justin.
“I’ll have water, thank you.”
“Ice or no ice? It’s bottled and cold.”
“No ice and no need for a glass then.”
Justin goes in the kitchen and gets the cop a bottled water and brings it out and hands it to him.
“Thank you,” the cop says opening the water and taking a drink.
“I didn’t realize that I had locked Hayley out of my room and since I broke up with Michael so late at night, my parents didn’t know that we broke up. The only person who knew besides Jose was Justin and if he told Angela, then her too.”
“Okay, I will need to get your name, number and anything else I will need to get in contact with you,” the cop says.
“Oh, okay. Well, my name is Jessica Roman, but I go by Kaci, does that matter?”
“No. Do you answer to Jessica?”
“At home, yes and to friends from Chicago and some of the Marlins players. Otherwise it’s Kaci.”
“Okay, so I’ll just put both.”
“Well, Kaci is my middle name, so it’s not just a nickname. Oh and my number. Um, my cell is 754-224-7095 and the house is 561-784-3210.”
“Okay. Thank you.”
“Oh wait, I have a question. We work together, and I have to be there between ten and eleven. What would I do about that, since I don’t feel safe around him?”
“Call your supervisor or boss and inform them what happened. That’s the only thing I can tell you since a restraining order can’t be put in place because we can’t keep anybody away from their place of work.”
“Oh. Well, what about my Chihuahua?”
“We will get your Chihuahua back.”
“Can’t I give you his address and you go to his house?”
“You can give me his address, but if it’s not in our jurisdiction, we have to get another jurisdiction involved.”
“That isn’t a problem that I’m worried about. I just want my Chihuahua back and something done about Jose’s car and have Michael taught a lesson since I fully plan to press charges against him.”
Kaci’s cell phone rings and she gets up to answer it.
“Hello?”
“Kaci, it’s Chris.”
“Hey.”
“Why does Michael have Hayley here with him?”
“Are you serious Chris?”
“Yeah. What’s going on? You never let her out of your sight!”
“Can you hold on a second Chris?”
“Sure.”
Kaci goes back inside, still on the phone with Chris.
“I have my boss on the phone and he said my Chihuahua is at the office with Michael. Is there anything you can do?”
“Where is your place of work?”
“It’s the Clear Channel building in Miramar.”
“I can have BSO go out there. Is that your boss on the phone?”
“Yes, please do that! And yes, it’s my boss on the phone. Do you need to talk to him?”
“I would, yes.”
“Okay, let me have him call the house then.”
“Okay.”
Kaci goes into the kitchen and gets the cordless phone.
“Hey Chris, can I call you right back from the house phone?”
“Yeah sure.”
“Okay. I’m calling right now, so I’ll hang up.”
“Okay.”
Kaci hangs up with Chris on her cell phone and calls him back on the house phone.
“Hey Chris, it’s Kaci.”
“Okay, so what’s going on?”
“I need you to talk to the cop that is here. Do you mind?”
“Not at all. What happened?”
“If he doesn’t explain, then I will when I get there. But can you do me a HUGE favor?”
“Sure, what is it?”
“If you see him leave without Hayley, can you go get her and keep her in your office until I get there?”
“Absolutely! And when you get here, we will talk then.”
“Okay,” Kaci says “Here’s the cop now,” Kaci says handing the phone to the cop.
The cop talks to Chris and gets all his information and informs Chris that he will put a call in and have BSO go out to Clear Channel. After the cop hangs up with Chris, he puts the call in for BSO to go to Clear Channel. After Chris hangs up with the cop, he calls Kory.
“Kory, it’s Chris. Give me a call back I need you on air at six today!”
Chris hangs up and just as he does he sees Michael leave his office without Hayley, so he goes into Michael’s office and takes Hayley back to his office then calls Kaci.
“Hey it’s Chris, is Kaci there?”
“Hey Chris, it’s Justin. She’s here, but she’s up in her room getting ready. What’s up?”
“Michael left his office and so I went and got Hayley so I have her now and I just thought I’d let her know.”
“Oh. Hold on a second and I’ll go get her so you can talk to her!”
Justin goes out in the living room and asks Jose to go get Kaci since Chris in on the phone.
“She should be down in a minute, I sent Jose up to get her.”
“Okay. Thanks Justin. So how you doing?”
“I’m doing okay. I really didn’t need all this drama, but what can I do?”
“I understand. Hey do you mind holding on a second? I have another call and I think it’s Kory.”
“Not at all.”
Chris clicks over and it is Kory.
“Chris Marino.”
“Hey Chris, it’s Kory.”
“Oh hey. Can you come in to do the show tonight? Michael won’t be able to do it tonight.”
“Is he sick?”
“No. I pulled him from the show. I need you tonight!”
“What happened?”
“I’ll discuss that with you later. Can you be here by three?”
“I will absolutely do the show! I can be there by four, is that okay?”
“That’s fine. But I gotta go, I got Kaci’s brother on the other line. I will see you at four then.”
Chris clicks back over to Justin.
“Sorry about that!”
“It’s okay. Kaci’s in the shower, do you mind if she calls when she gets out?”
“Oh, okay. Hey, do you know anybody in the business looking for a job?”
“For what?”
“I’m going to let Michael go and so I need a new night show. I was thinking of having someone team up with Kory.”
“I might know someone. Would you mind flying them down for an interview?”
“Not at all. Who you thinking of?”
“My friend in Chicago, Doug. He does resident DJing at a club in Chicago but I know he wants to be in radio and is very capable of being a radio jock.”
“Well, give him a call and get him my number and have him give me a call.”
“Okay. I’ll have Jess call you when she gets out of the shower.”
“Okay Justin. Oh and if you want, feel free to come down with Kaci to the station.”
Justin and Chris hang up with each other.
“You guys are going down to the station when Jess is working, right?” Justin asks Jose and Angela.
“Yeah,” Jose and Angela say in unison.
“Oh, well, we all can go together,” Justin says.
“I thought you were going to work on the album today?” asks Angela.
“Jess and the safety of the family is more important!”
“Do one of you guys mind giving me a ride home so I can get a shower and change and everything?” asks Jose.
“Just a second,” Justin says walking up the stairs.
Justin goes in Kaci’s room and knocks on her bathroom door.
“It’s me Jess.”
“Give me a minute, I’m almost done!”
Kaci comes out of the bathroom in her bathrobe and sits on her bed.
“What’s going on?”
“Jose wants to go home and take a shower and change and everything.”
“Oh, okay. I’ll take him in a minute.”
“And Chris called. He has Hayley in his office and he’s firing Michael. Kory is doing the show tonight.”
“Oh good!”
“He said to call him when you got out of the shower. Oh and I’m coming to the station with Jose and Angela.”
“That’s fine. I don’t mind, as long as Chris doesn’t mind.”
“Oh no, he was the one who said I should go.”
“Oh, okay. But hey, can I get dressed so I can call Chris and take Jose home?”
“Sure. I’ll go tell Jose you’ll take him home in a few.”
“Thanks Justin!” Kaci says giving her brother a hug.
“No problem Jess,” Justin says returning his sister’s hug.
Justin goes back downstairs.
“She said she wants to take you home,” Justin tells Jose.
“That’s fine.”
Jose goes upstairs to Kaci’s room and Justin goes and talks to Angela.
“Do you still see Doug in Chicago?”
“Yeah, all the time, why?”
“Is he still doing the DJing and stuff?”
“I think so. But why do you ask?”
“Chris, Jess’s boss at the station, he’s firing Michael and he wants to talk to Doug about doing the night show with Kory. I need to call him,” Justin says taking out his cell phone.
“Wow, that’s great! I’m sure he will be excited!”
“Do you know his number?”
“Yeah, it’s in my phone upstairs. Do you want me to call him?”
“Would you?”
“Sure, give me a minute.”
Angela goes upstairs and gets her phone out of her purse and calls Doug.
“Stylz, it’s Angie, call me back! I’m in Florida with Justin and Jess and Justin needs to talk to you! Make it quick cause this is muy importante! Love ya Stylz! CALL ME!”
Angela goes back downstairs and sits on the couch next to Justin.
“I called him, but his phone was turned off, so I left him a message to call me back so you can talk to him.”
“Oh, okay. Wait, his lazy ass is still sleeping? It’s too early for him?”
“Very true! We go out every night back in Chi! He will be sleeping until the Cubs game this afternoon!”
Kaci and Jose come downstairs and get her keys and get ready to leave.
“You’re coming back, right?” Justin asks Kaci.
“Yeah, I’ll be back. He won’t take long,” Kaci says walking out the door.
“Just be careful you two!” Justin says.
Kaci and Jose leave and go back to his house.
“Are you going to come in?”
“Are you going to be long?” Kaci asks.
“Maybe a half hour.”
“I still gotta call Chris and run a few errands before I go to work. I’ll be back in 45 minutes then.”
“Okay,” Jose says giving Kaci a kiss and getting out of the car.
“Be careful.”
“I will,” Kaci says.
Jose shuts the passenger door and Kaci leaves and goes to pick up some stuff at the store and goes home to call Chris. Kaci gets to her house and calls Chris to talk to him outside on her front porch.
“Chris, it’s Kaci.”
“Hey! I never knew Hayley was so adorable!”
“Yeah, that’s my baby right there!”
“Well, your baby is in my office safe. What caused this to happen?”
“You know that guy I went and danced with then came back and said I wanted to leave last night?”
“Yeah, what about him?”
“That’s my boyfriend.”
“Oh. So you and Mike are not together any more?”
“No, and that’s why all this happened!”
“Oh, well, I’m firing him within the hour. Do you mind not coming in until after he leaves?”
“That’s not a problem.”
“Okay, so if you don’t hear from me by one, you can just come, and bring Justin with you.”
“Okay, but Jose and Angela are coming too, if you don’t mind.”
“Not at all. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable and if having them in the studio with you is what you want, then that’s fine. But they’ll have to act like they have an appointment because you can’t bring them in through the employee entrance.”
“What about Justin then?”
“He can, but Jose and Angela will have to wait in the lobby.”
“Okay. Well, let me go finish getting ready and pick Jose back up from his house. Don’t let my baby out of your site! Especially when you fire Michael!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll treat her like she was mine and Vanessa’s!”
Kaci and Chris hang up and Kaci goes inside the house for a little while before picking Jose back up.
“Hey guys,” Kaci says to Justin and Angela as she puts her purse and keys on the kitchen counter.
“Can I talk to you Jess?” Angela says.
“Yeah, sure,” Kaci says taking a sip of the rum and coke she just made herself.
“Let’s go upstairs to talk,” Angela says getting up from the couch.
Angela and Kaci go up to her room, but first Angela goes in Justin’s room to get the contract.
“So what’s up?” Kaci asks, taking a sip of her drink when Angela comes back.
“You know I work for Latium and well, they want to sign you as an artist and here is the contract,” Angela says handing the contract to Kaci.
“Are you serious?” Kaci says taking the contract and flipping through it.
“Yes. They already have everything lined up for you and they already got Universal Records interested!”
“Awesome! Do you mind if I have Justin look over it?”
“Not at all. They want to sign him as a solo artist as well, but right now they are concentrating on you.”
“Oh wow! Well, let me have Justin look over it. If he approves and thinks it’s a good contract, I’ll sign, under a few conditions.”
“What conditions?”
“Well, I have a contract with the Marlins until their season is over and I have the contract with Clear Channel. Oh and you would have to always be with me, manager, assistant or something like that!”
“Oh, I see. Well, I’ll let them know about those contracts. When does the Clear Channel contract end?”
“I’m not sure! But Chris is cool about everything with me. I doubt he will mind.”
“Okay, well, I’ll go show this to Justin since you have to get to work soon.”
“Chris said not to come until he calls me since he’s firing Michael and doesn’t want me to be there then. And if he doesn’t call me by one, then to just come.”
Justin comes upstairs to Kaci’s room and knocks on Kaci’s door.
“What Justin?” Kaci says.
“You both left me all alone!”
“God Justin! Come in,” Kaci says jokingly.
Justin comes in Kaci’s room and Angela moves over so Justin can sit on Kaci’s bed.
“What’s this?” Justin says grabbing the contract.
“I want to sign Jess to Latium,” Angela says.
“Go for it!” Justin says.“You want me to look it over Jess?”
“Please. Hey has Chris called yet?”
“No, why?”
“He was going to call and let me know when to leave. He was firing Michael right after I hung up with him.”
“Oh, yeah, no he hasn’t called. Speaking of calls, has Doug called you back?”
“Not that I know of, let me go check,” Angela says getting up.
Angela goes to Justin’s room and sees that she has two missed calls. One was Latium and the other was Doug. So she calls both back.
“Doug!”
“Angela! When did you go to Miami?”
“I’m not in Miami, I’m in Boca Raton. I got here last night.”
“So what’s up? Why’d you call me?”
“Justin wants to talk to you.”
“So let me talk to him! He never calls nobody any more!”
“Just a minute,” Angela says going back to Kaci’s room.
