The four pile into Kaci’s car, Kory sitting in front with Kaci, and Kim and Staci sitting in the back.
“So where is this friend of yours?” Kory asks Kaci.
“He works at Ramada on the beach. It’s the better of the few Ramada’s along the beach.”
“Well, hey, I got my friend Chad coming in from Orlando next weekend, do you think that I can get hooked up with a room for him there?”
“I would assume so. Why don’t you come in with me and ask?”
“I guess that would be the smart thing to do!”
The four have miscellaneous conversations the rest of the way to Ramada and when they get there, Kaci and Kory get out of her BMW.
“We’ll be just a minute,” Kaci says as she gets out of the car.
Kaci shuts her door, as does Kory, and as the two are walking up to the entrance of Ramada, Kory grabs Kaci’s hand. The two walk in to Ramada and right over to Jose.
“Hey love,” Kaci says leaning over the counter to give Jose a kiss.
“Hey, what’s up?” Jose says in return to Kaci.
“You got a pen and paper so I can write this down for you?”
“Yeah, just a second,” Jose says as he goes in the back office to get a pen and piece of paper. “Here you go baby,” Jose says as he hands Kaci the pen and paper.
“Thanks. Baby, don’t you have to ask him something?” Kaci asks Kory.
“Oh yeah! Hey man, I got this friend of mine coming down from Orlando and he needs a place to stay. Could you hook me up with a room for him?”
“Sure. Do you want it under his name or yours?”
“Do you have to check in by a certain time?”
“Yeah man, by 11am.”
“In that case, let’s do mine.”
“For when?”
“He’ll be here for a week starting on the second.”
“Alright. I need your name, number of people and the deposit for the room.”
“How much is the deposit?”
“Ninety.”
Kory writes down his name “Kory Knight” and hands the paper and pen back to Jose.
“How many people?” Jose asks Kory.
“Just Chad as far as I know.”
“Okay, that would be fifty dollars.”
“I thought you said it was ninety?”
“It is, but since you’re a friend of a friend, I gave you a discount.”
“Okay,” Kory says as he pulls out fifty in cash and hands it to Jose. “Is that all I have to do?”
“Pretty much so. I’ll see you guys later. My boss is in the back, so thank god that you guys booked that room!”
“Okay, we’ll see you at Radius!” Kaci says as she kisses Jose on the cheek and then leaves with Kory, holding his hand.
The two walk out of Ramada and back to Kaci’s BMW.
“Okay, you guys ready to go party?” Kaci asks when she gets in the car.
“HELL YEAH!” Kim says.
“Okay, everyone has to put their seatbelts on because it’s that ‘click it or ticket’ shit,” Kaci says as she puts her seatbelt on, starts the car and heads off to Radius.
On the way to Radius, while Kaci is on I-95, her cell phone rings.
“Hello?” Kory says.
“Kory?”
“Yeah?”
“It’s Krystal, is Kaci with you?”
“Yeah, she’s driving on 95, we’re on our way to Radius.”
“Oh, okay. I’m already here, so I guess I will see you guys when you get here.”
“Okay, that sounds like a plan. See you there,” Kory says and then hangs up.
“Who was that?” Kaci asks.
“Krystal.”
“Oh, what did she want?”
“She’s already at Radius. She was wondering where we were.”
“Oh wow, she’s never that early! She must want to get trashed tonight!”
“Looks like I’ll be driving home then,” Staci says.
“I’ll try to control myself!” Kaci replies.
The four arrive at Radius and Kaci calls Chris on his cell to come and get them so they get in for free. Chris comes and gets Kaci, Kim, Staci, and Kory, who met up with Krystal, who this time only, Chris got her in for free too.
“How have you been?” Krystal asks Kaci.
“Pretty good. I’ve been meaning to call you. Jackie keeps asking about you.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, every time he’s over the house, he’s always asking about you.”
“Well, give him my number!”
“He might show up here tonight if he isn’t busy.”
“He won’t show up!”
“He said he might, so who knows? Kory, could you go get me a rum and coke?”
Kory goes to get Kaci her rum and coke and him a vodka and cranberry. He returns with Kaci’s drink and his half gone already.
“Damn!” Kaci says when she sees that Kory has already finished half of his drink.
“What?”
“You thirsty?”
“Oh,” Kory says realizing what Kaci was talking about when he looks down at his drink.“Let’s go dance,” Kory says to Kaci, taking her hand.
Kaci and Kory go off to dance, and in the middle of them dancing to the tenth song, she feels her phone vibrate in her pocket. She ignores it and continues to dance with Kory until they decide not to dance anymore. Kaci goes off to the restroom to check her voicemail.
“Kaci, it’s Chris, come see me in VIP. Someone wants to see you. Bring your friends and Kory. Call me when you get this.”
Kaci calls Chris after listening to her voicemail.
“Hey, who wants to see me?”
“Just get your stuff and friends and come to VIP,” says Chris.
“Okay, be there in a minute. Bye,” Kaci says then hangs up.
Kaci goes back to where everyone is and informs them of her voicemail message.
“Get your stuff, we’re moving,” Kaci says.
“To where?” asks Krystal.
“Just get your stuff and follow me.”
Everyone grabs their stuff and follows Kaci.
“Why are we going all the way over here?”
“Just chill, I don’t know why. I just got a call and it said to come here with everyone.”
“Hey guys, it’s about time you showed up,” Jackie says as Kaci, Kory, Staci, Kim and Krystal walk into the VIP room.
Kaci busts out laughing and when she manages to calm down, she manages to acknowledge Jackie. Then she realizes who is sitting next to him.
“Oh my god, Angela, is that you?”
“You’re still the craziest white-Mexican I’ve ever seen!”
“Hey, I’m the only crazy white-Mexican you know! Justin ain’t crazy!”
“Yeah, that’s true.”
“What’s up girl? How you been? Why you here?”
“Thought I’d come and surprise you all. Who’s your friends?”
“Oh yeah, my bad! Kim, Krystal, Kory, this is my homegirl Angela from back in Chi-Town.”
“What about Staci?” asks Kory.
“Staci knows her…”
“Yeah, me and Staci know each other,” Angela butts in.
“So when did you get here?”
“Apparently you were with Chris when I got here. And what’s this I hear you’re dating some guy working at the station?”
“Let’s go dance,” Kaci says and grabs Angela by her hand.
Kaci and Angela go out to the dance floor and then go to the restroom.
“Don’t tell anyone, but I can’t stand being around Michael for two seconds any more!”
“So what are you going to do about it?”
“Kory seems real interested and I like him too, but I don’t want to say anything to Staci.”
"What does Staci have to do with this?”
“Kory asked Staci out today at the station. Then like right after he brought up about going out with me and Mike. From the second I got there today he was always asking about me. Then to top it all off, he insists on holding my hand, and we’ve already made out – and we just met today!”
“Wow Jess!”
“Yeah, I know! I get the feeling he is with her to get close to me.”
Kaci’s phone rings and it’s her brother Justin.
“Hey you!” Angela says.
“Jess?”
“No silly, it’s Angela.”
“Oh my god, how are you? Wait, you’re here in Miami?”
“I’m good, and yes I’m here in Miami. I’m moving down here in a month! Aren’t you excited?”
“Of course I’m excited! My other little sister moving down here, how much better can this get?”
“How about I’m moving down here because I’m working?”
“Who you working for?”
Angela excuses herself to go talk to Justin.
“So who you working for?”
“You’re going to freak out, I swear Justin!”
“Quit the stalling and tell me Angie!”
“I’m working for Latium Entertainment and Universal Records exclusively. I have a contract for Jess at the house.”
“So you’re going to be working with Jess, huh?”
“Definitely! I wouldn’t let anyone else take her! Besides, I know I get approval from you!”
“Absolutely. You get more than that though.”
Kaci finds Angela on the phone with Justin still and takes her phone back.
“Justin, must you use the minutes to talk up a storm with Angela?”
“When you coming home?”
“Whenever I get there. We’re just at Radius with Chris and Jackie and Staci.”
“Jackie is with you?”
“Yeah, why do you sound so surprised? He came with Angela here.”
“Is Krystal with you?”
“She’s here, yes.”
“Well, when are you coming home?”
“You already asked me Justin!”
“Well how long do you plan on staying?”
“Not sure. Chris invited me here tonight, so probably until he leaves or a little after. But I don’t plan on staying after 2am since I have the game to do tomorrow.”
“Oh yeah, weren’t you supposed to do that tonight too?”
“Yeah, but I just didn’t feel like it, so I called and told them you were in the hospital and I couldn’t make it.”
“Well, don’t stay out so late then, leave when Chris leaves.”
“Maybe.”
“Don’t screw around Jess! Can I talk to Angela again?”
“Not long Justin! Can’t you wait until we come home?”
“I just got a quick question for her.”
“Ugh, fine, one question, then we gotta go back to tearin up the dance floor!”
“You and your ghetto ass! Let me talk to Angela.”
“Bye, see you when I get home.”
Kaci hands Angela her phone so that Justin can talk to her.
“Keep it short please!” Kaci says to Angela then goes back inside Radius.
“So what’s up J?”
“So when do you move down here?”
“In a couple weeks! They sent me down to get Jess to sign the contract and to find a place.”
“Well, I’m sure mom and dad wouldn’t mind you staying with us!”
“But I have to tell Latium where to send the checks for rent and stuff. Everything is being paid for by the company.”
“So tell them to send it to my parents! We’ll look online tomorrow for prices and then you can give them that and just give it to mom and dad or pocket it.”
“Are you sure Jill and Bob won’t mind?”
“Yeah, I’m positive!”
“Okay, well, I don’t think we’re staying long here tonight, so I’ll just see you when we get home!”
“Okay Angie. I can’t wait to see you!”
“I know! We have some catching up to do!”
“Definitely! Just come to my room when you get here, if you don’t mind.”
“Okay, I’ll see you later Justin.”
