Chapter Ten
Kaci walks over to Mike with Kory still holding her hand.
“What’s that about?” Mike asks pointing to Kory and Kaci holding hands.
“Nothing, we just wanted to see your reaction,” Kaci explains.
“Kory, can I talk to you for a second?” Staci blurts out.
Kory and Staci walk out of the studio to talk in the hall. Meanwhile, Michael has finished with the countdown and is looking for his 100th caller, so he sends Kim in the call screening room to find that caller, so he can talk to Kaci.
“I don’t know how to do that!” Kim tells Mike.
“I’ll do it. We can talk later,” Kaci says to Mike.
Kaci goes into the call screening room to get caller 100 for Michael. Staci and Kory return to the studio and Staci goes into the studio while Kory stays in the screening room with Kaci.
“Y100 caller one … Y100 caller two … Y100 caller three … Y100 caller four … Y100 caller five … Y100 caller six … Y100 caller seven … Y100 caller eight … Y100 caller nine … Y100 caller ten…”
“You know Kaci, you’re a real pro at this!” Kory says, surprising Kaci.
“Why thank you Kory!”
“I was thinking, you know, maybe we could hang out Sunday, you know, if you’re not busy.”
“Sounds fun, but you know I gotta get to caller 100 so we can leave and go to Radius.”
“Right, well, why don’t you just do what I do on my weekend show?”
“What’s that?”
“Just skip a few numbers! It’s just me on the weekends, do you actually think I count 100 callers?”
“Oh, I got you! But Mike gets mad when I do that! That’s what I used to do until he caught me doing that!”
“Oh, so it looks like you’ve got a lot more callers to go through.”
“Wanna bet? Y100 caller ninety … Y100 caller ninety-one … Y100 caller ninety-two … Y100 caller ninety-three … Y100 caller ninety-four … Y100 caller ninety-five … Y100 caller ninety-six … Y100 caller ninety-seven … Y100 caller ninety-eight.”
Kaci gets up and walks back into the studio.
“I got to ninety-eight baby,” Kaci says to Michael.
“Y100 caller ninety-nine.”
Staci and Kim get up and start to walk out of the studio.
“Where you guys going?” Kaci asks Kim and Staci.
“To go change for Radius,” Staci informs Kaci.
“Hey, do you mind if I talk to you for a minute after you’re done?” Kaci asks Staci.
“Not at all, I was thinking the same thing.”
Staci and Kim leave the studio and Michael gets caller 100 on the line.
“Y100, hello?”
“What caller am I?”
“What caller would you like to be?”
“One hundred. Oh my god, please tell me I’m caller one hundred!”
“Congratulations, you are caller one hundred!”
A sea of “Oh My God’s” comes to play as Michael tries to explain to the caller what she has to do to get tickets and backstage passes to Vi3’s upcoming concert.
“Who’s this?”
“Britney from Miramar.”
“Okay Britney, what I want you to do is tell me what song number four was tonight.”
“Number four was J.Roman Fake I.D.”
“Okay, what was song number two?”
“Number two was Backstreet Boys Drowning.”
"Number one?”
“Vi3 Eyes Closed So Tight.”
“Okay, okay, now I’m mixing things up tonight. Who were my three guest DJs tonight?”
“Kory, Kaci and Kim?”
“Ah, two out of three ain’t bad. I’ll give it to you, but Kory wasn’t one of them.”
“Oh, then who’s Kory?”
“He’s an intern and one of our weekend DJs. But tell me who just hooked you up?”
“Y100, Miami’s hit music channel.”
“Okay, stay on the line so we can get your information.”
Kaci and Kory go into the call screening room to get the information so that the winner can pick up her prizes from the station. After Kaci gets all the information, she walks back into the studio.
“Here’s all the stuff,” Kaci says as she hands it to Mike.
“Thanks for your help tonight.”
“You’re welcome baby, but thanks for letting Kory come with us to Radius tonight,” Kaci says as she kisses Mike on the cheek and walks out of the studio.
Kory starts to follow Kaci out the studio, but Michael stops him.
“Hey Kory?”
“Yeah Mike?”
“Do me a favor and keep an eye on her tonight for me, will ya?”
“Sure thing bro,” Kory says as he walks out the studio.
Kaci goes to Mike’s office, gets her stuff and then goes to the ladies room to change. She walks back to Kory’s office and hands him Mike’s key to his office.
“Can you go give this back to Mike for me?” Kaci asks Kory.
“Why?”
“Look at me! He wouldn’t let me out of this building like this!”
“Be right back,” Kory says as he heads down the hall to the studio.
Kory walks into the studio and hands Mike his key to his office.
“We’re getting ready to leave, just thought that I’d let you know.”
“Thanks. See you tomorrow,” Mike says as he puts his headphones back on to go back on air.
“Thanks Mike for letting me go. See you tomorrow,” Kory says as he walks out the studio.
Mike goes back on air and Kory goes back to his office to get Kaci, Kim and Staci so they can leave to go to Radius.
“I hope you guys don’t mind that I stop by my friend’s work so that I can give him directions!” Kaci says as they walk out the door.
