There Was A Time
Let your mind wonder to days of old
Let your heart flutter for the one you long to hold
The joining of hands brought a uncontrollable smile
And the life you formed became a small one's norm
All for the sake of love
Years passed, Children have grown
Hugs replaced by long distance phone calls
A glance to the mirror, Was that me?
Ah yes, A older image of the one still within your mind
The love song of the past still plays in your heart
Some words to the tune may well be forgotten
Listen closely,
Did you hear a child's frightened voice call your name in the night?
Just the wind amongst the trees
What remains of those happy days?
Only a handful of photographs and a heart full of memories
But as you sit and talk to a old friend
You will always be able to smile and say
"There was a time".
