Chapter 3
"Have they had this match before?" Kaci turned and
asked her brother, whilst watching Matt and Jeff wrestle on the screen in the
backstage area. Adam nodded his head.
"They've wrestled each other before.... Yes." She shook her head,
frustration creeping into her voice.
"No, have they had this specific match? How many people have those
signs?" She pointed at the screen, pointing out the bright Yellow sign that
had the fans name on it with an arrow pointing to themselves. Adam chuckled.
"Lots of people. Kaci, relax, he's not going to get hurt out there, he
knows what he's doing." He knew his sister was worried about Jeff getting
hurt with his extreme moves. But her asking about the sign didn't make any
sense. He sighed, his sister had been hard to understand all day today.
"How many times has Jeff kicked out of Matt's Twist Of Fate?" Kaci
asked, anticipation filling her as she awaited the answer from her brother. He
shook his head.
"Never." Kaci felt pain in the pit of her stomach. Fear slowly
creeping into her mind. It was going to happen soon, she just didn't know
exactly when... or how.
"He's about to kick out now." As she said it, Matt set Jeff up for the
Twist Of Fate. Adam watched closely as the referee counted.... and Jeff kicked
out on two. He turned to his sister, looking round before taking her arm and
pulling her down the hallway, pulling her into Krissy's makeshift office.
Smiling softly at a startled Krissy before he looked his sister in the eye.
"How did you know that?" She lowered her eyes slightly, the voice she
had heard only a few hours ago once again entering her mind, the voice that had
accompanied the image she'd just seen actually happen.
"I saw it." Adam paled slightly, the memories of last time Kaci saw
something running through his head.
"What," he took a deep breath. "What else did you see?" She
raised her eyes, causing Adam to move back slightly at the immense pain
shadowing her blue orbs. Pain stronger then he'd ever seen. He leaned in
slightly as she spoke, so softly he had to strain to hear her.
"Jeff. Excited Jeff. Jubilant Jeff. Dead Jeff." She felt tears prick
her eyes again as she carried on. "Jeff with his insides on the outside.
Jeff in serious, serious pain. It was so intense Adam, so god damned real. And
the power, the power of the pure left me, then the pain of darkness spoke to me.
I can't cheat death, so I lose someone I hold dear. I'm burdened with this power
of my own, power to see the future, ability to be warned, but if I carry on like
this, it's going to kill me. I can't be responsible for someone's death. And I
can't stop Jeff dying, I can't stop the fate being carried out by the pain! The
power's left me and I don't know what to do!" Adam pulled his sister to him
and hugged her tightly as the tears streamed down her face. Slowly, he digested
what he'd been told, and after a few minutes, spoke to her.
"I don't understand. Last time you were warned. So you could save me, so
you could stop my fate. Why can't you stop Jeff dying?" She looked up at
him, pain, sadness and... defeat reflected in her eyes, as she opened her mouth
the speak, another voice interrupted them.
"It's kinda like an eye for an eye. She cheated death. So another life has
to be taken. She cheated a power that no person on earth can comprehend. So that
power is punishing her by taking what she holds most dear. It can't be you
because you have your second chance. They lost you last time, so they take the
other person she holds most dear." Krissy moved from behind her desk,
standing in front of Adam and Kaci. "But Kaci, you can stop it. Your still
being warned of what's to come, so you can stop it." Kaci looked up to the
older woman, surprised at the strength in her green eyes. She nodded her head,
it was true. She had still got warned, so she still had time.
