Chapter 4
She was moving along the grass again, only this time, the grass was red...
little droplets of blood dripping off them as she passed. The power was pushing
her, pushing her gently to find the solution. Letting her know her time was
almost up, making it known to her that the power needed her now more then ever.
Needed her to save one of the important people to this world. Needed the good to
win the battle raging on the surface of the earth. She was violently pulled to a
stop and immediately fear consumed her. She couldn't feel the power, she was
lost in an unknown reality, lost without the guidance of the pure. She was
blinded with a bright light again, before it faded and she saw the sea of blood,
slowly, an image appeared. He was there, his golden hair shining, but his face
edged with sadness as he frowned. Hope entered his eyes as the blue hair entered
the image, but quickly died. He looked around him panicking, the very essence of
his soul laced in fear. The light returned to his eyes, he smiled, and greeted
an unknown person, the image not showing her the face. As the image wavered, the
grin appeared, she squinted horrified as the image was sharpened. He was
talking, the room once again filled with light as he laughed. Blood poured out
of his mouth, his eyes widened in shock, then she saw the face, the face she
knew so well, distorted in jealousy and rage. He grinned at her, reaching for
her with one hand as he continued to stab the knife into the golden beauty, as
his hand reached hers.... she screamed.
"ADAM!" Kaci screamed out the his name as she shoot up in bed,
panting. Sweat was running down her face, fear so strong in the pit or her
stomach it hurt. That was so vivid. But it meant everything. He was looking for
her, when he'd been killed, Adam had been looking for her. The blood laden grass
was a sign, it was gonna happen tonight.
"Kaci?" Kaci looked up as Jeff entered the room, panick evident in his
eyes. "Kaci? What's wrong? Why did you scream like that?" He come over
to her, touching her arm then pulling her into an embrace when he felt her
shaking.
"Adam... where's Adam?" She spoke so softly he could barely hear her.
"He's okay, he's downstairs. He told me everything," He kissed her
forehead softly. "Did you have another one?" She nodded softly into
his chest, sniffing as the tears came to her.
"It was the worst yet Jeff, it was so scary, so vivid... so *real*. I know,
it's gonna happen tonight, if I don't stop it. I have to stop it, Jeff, I can't
be responsible if he dies, and it would be my fault because I was warn..."
He cut her off, placing his lips on her own and kissing her softly. She reacted
with more need then she knew she felt, wrapping her arms around his neck and
begging for entrance with her tongue. A little shocked at her response, he
opened his mouth, wrestling with her tongue as the heat in they're kiss grew.
After a few minutes they pulled away, each gasping for breath.
"Oh, shit. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take advantage," he looked at
her, his honesty in his eyes. "It's just, you were so scared and shaking
and I had this sudden urge to protect you and.." Kaci put her finger to his
lips, silencing him.
"Jeff, it's okay, don't worry. I have to get ready to go to this
party." He chuckled slightly.
"Your going as Adam's date, right?" He pushed her playfully, and
laughed, his laughter dying away at the look on her face. "What?" She
smiled shyly, blushing.
"Unless... unless you take me as your date." He frowned slightly.
"But, how would it be a date if your there on this mission thing?" She
frowned herself, thinking a minute.
"Well, we just stay near Adam, and I'll know the guy if I see him....
you'll just have to keep your eye on me if I go walka.." She stopped paling
slightly. "Jeff, please, don't let me go away from you or Adam,
please?" She begged desperately.
"Okay, baby, calm down, I wont," He kissed her forehead. "Now you
get ready." He winked at her as he left the room. She sat for a minute,
realisation sinking in.... did he just call her baby?

Adam watched his sister, amusement evident on his face as she jumped from foot
to foot. Tilting his head slightly, he narrowed his eyes, finally giving up as
he asked her.
"Kaci, just what in the hell are you doing?" She looked at him, her
eyes watering as she moved a little faster, a look of pure desperation on her
face. She heard Jeff chuckle and looked at him, glaring before turning back to
her brother.
"I need to go to the toilet." He looked at her bewildered a moment
before bursting out in laughter, Jeff and Krissy joining him a few seconds
later.
"Why are you still standing here then?" She pouted stubbornly, tears
actually leaving her eyes where she was so desperate.
"I don't want to leave you alone, Adam. I told you what happened. Besides,
I don't know where they are." Adam looked at her, looking to Krissy
then back to his sister face, masked in desperation with a couple of tears
falling freely down her face. He turned back to Krissy.
"Kris, baby, do me a favour, take my sister to the toilet before she pisses
herself." He laughed at the look on Kaci's face, smiling as it changed to
relief when Krissy pointed out the toilet, only a few feet from where they were
standing. As she walked through the door, Kaci watched her brother, taking
comfort as Jeff promised to keep an eye on him. Running, the closed the toilet
door, being as quick as she could. As she was washing her hands, Krissy turned
to her, the fear in the woman's eyes taking Kaci by surprise.
"Do you...." She swallowed, not sure whether to let Kaci know that she
knew or not, taking a breath she asked in a rush. "Do you think Adam's
going to be okay?" Kaci turned to her sharply, shocked that she even knew.
"He told you!" She softened as Krissy eyes filled with tears, her fear
evident in her eyes. Softly Kaci whispered. "I hope so, Krissy. I really
do, but the longer were in here, the more chance there is that he wont."
Krissy nodded, swallowing and opening the door. As Kaci walked out she froze,
her body numbing in fear. Adam was talking to him, he was talking to the guy
that.... Kaci tried to move forward as Adam walked away with him. Obviously
trusting the man who was about to kill him. She found herself stuck in place.
Krissy looked at her, nearly crying out at the amount of absolute terror on the
younger woman's face.
"Kaci? My god, no! Kaci!!" Kaci was rooted to the spot, silent tears
coming down her face as her brother's back disappeared from sight. Krissy yelled
in desperation. "Jeff!" Hearing his name he turned, dropping his glass
and running quickly to Kaci, knowing instantly that mind numbing fear and terror
had rooted her in place. He snapped his fingers in front of her face, sighing
with relief when she looked at him.
"Kaci... you have to move." She nodded, using every ounce of power in
her body, she shook the fear off, suddenly overcome with an overwhelming sense
of calm. She felt the power with her. Whispering before she went after her
brother.
"Krissy, stay here. Please." Krissy nodded, and sat on the leather
chair behind her, shaking with fear. Kaci turned to Jeff. "Come with me?
Please?" He nodded, moving already. Kaci caught up with him. "There's
a power here Jeff, a power far beyond our comprehension. Far stronger then any
living human being, it's with me, it'll guide me. Just follow me, please? I
don't think I can over power him myself, the power is a guide, not a
force." Jeff nodded, following Kaci as she turned sharply, headed into what
look like a basement.
"Do you know who your looking for?" He whispered softly as she walked
through the dark. She nodded, a gesture lost on him in the darkness. Then
stopped suddenly.
"He has him down there," she flicked the light on and heard Jeff gasp
as he saw Adam, hands tied behind his back and his mouth covered with cellotape,
he raised his eyes, his mouth hanging open in shock. "Jason," she
whispered his name softly. "You were a family friend for years, I've known
since birth. You absolute fuckin bastard!" Without warning she lunged
forward, taking him to the floor with her.
