Chapter 2
Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, Kaci raised her hand to knock
Adam's door, freezing as her hand come into contact with skin. Slowly she opened
her eyes and caught her breath, looking up at the guy who's head she'd knocked,
blushing crimson at the amusement dancing over his face.
"Um... hello?" He said the word as a question, laughter tingeing on
the edges of his deep southern drawl. Despite herself, Kaci giggled.
"The door talks! I knew Adam always wanted a talking door, but, damn. I
didn't think he'd ever find one." She giggled some more, completely aware
of how much of a fool she looked, but unable to stop herself after being
surprised the way she was.
"If you hadn't of just said Adam, I'da ran from you in a second ya
know," he chuckled lightly, taking her hand, still perched by his head and
shaking it. "I'm Jeff Hardy, you are?" She looked him over, giggling
quietly at his deep blue hair, then meeting his green eyes with her own.
"Kaci Copeland," she frowned slightly when his mouth dropped open.
"What?" He looked at her.
"It's just, dayum. You look nothing like him." He looked over for the
first time since she'd knocked on his head. She was shorter then Adam, way
shorter, she reached his shoulders. Her hair was raven black, hanging dead
straight just past her shoulders, her eyes were a startling bright blue colour,
right now looking into his in confusion. He chuckled. "Sorry, just a shock.
Your five years younger then him, right? You still live in Toronto?" He
smiled as he asked the questions, wanting nothing more then to relax her.
"Yeah. To both. Do you live here with him?" She started to relax as
they chattered away easily, grateful for the few more minutes she had before she
had to face Adam. Jeff shook his head.
"Nah, just a friend, stayin' here for a while," he smiled, answering
her un-asked question. "Family business." She nodded in understanding,
about to speak when her eyes widened. Jeff turned around to see what had made
the fear enter the young woman's eyes, and chuckled lightly when he saw Adam
approaching. He leaned down, kissing her cheek as he whispered. "Bye, we'll
talk later." He walked out of the house, leaving Kaci staring on the
doorstep at her brother. His eyes widened when he spotted her, quickly moving
forward, he embraced her warmly.
"Kaci! My god, I've been trying to call you!! What are you doing here? Not
that I'm not happy to see you but still..." Adam cut off when he finally
realised his sister had frozen in place. Her cold, shaking hand resting on his
bare shoulder, he waved his hand infront of her face, but she didn't even blink.
She moved along the grass at a fast pace, the power guiding her rushing, as
if time was about to end. When she was gently stopped, she looked around, the
very essence of her soul freezing in fear. It was like she was under the sea,
under a sea of blood. Fear consumed her as she struggled to breath, her
breathing stopping altogether as an image appeared before her. He was there, his
golden hair shining in the light as he face lit up the room when he laughed. The
dark haired woman was by his side, gazing adoringly at him as he spoke. His face
wavered gently as the blood around her swirled, causing her to squint and take a
breath, a breath that tasted of blood, a smell suddenly surrounded her, and she
choked on death, coughing as she image sharpened. Showing her an evil grin. She
heard the laughter as her life drained away, the last thing she saw was the
golden hair, tainted with blood and the smell of death, as she took her last
breath... she screamed.
