Chapter 3

Chloe only managed to do eight laps in the morning practise. She had the slowest time and she new she was in trouble with her boss now, not just Bernie Ecclestone. She walked from the garage and headed to her trailer. Eddie caught her arms before she went in.
“What’s wrong?” He asked as he looked at her pale face.
“I’m not feeling to good, I’m just going to lay down for a little while.”
“I don’t think you should race Clo, I’m really worried about you.”
“Don’t be. I’m fine I just need to rest for a while.”
“If you are sure.”
“Yes I am. I’ll talk to you later ok?”
“Ok.” Eddie said reluctantly as he watched her go into the trailer.

“Have you spoken to her?” Jeff asked Matt. He was on the plane to Monaco and he was on the plane phone.
“No. Her mobile is of and Ben said she had locked herself in her trailer and wouldn’t come out. She did eight laps for warm up.”
“Have you spoken to Eddie?”
“No. I don’t have his number. I’m sure she’s fine Jeff.”
“I hope she is.”

As Chloe let herself out of the trailer she wiped her eyes for one last time. Ben was immediately at her side asking if she was ok. She nodded yes and headed out back to the garage. As soon as she got there she was bombarded with questions about what set up she wanted, what type of tire, what time she wanted to get in the car, when did she want to do this, want to do that.
“STOP IT!!!!!!!!” Chloe shouted as everyone talked to her at once. “Just stop it!!!” She shouted again as she ran from the garage. She ran into the car park and across to Eddies trailer. She opened the door and let herself in. She went and curled up on Eddie’s sofa. She cried so hard she was almost sick.

“Matt, it’s Ben.”
“Hey Ben, what’s up?”
“Well, it’s Chloe.”
“What about her?”
“She’s ill Matt, she seems so stressed out and she just ran out of the garage and me and the others have just spent the last hour looking for her and we can’t find her and it’s only an hour and a half until the race.”
“Jeff’s on his way.”
“I know. I need him here. She needs him. And I was hoping that you could get over here. She can’t handle Jamie at the minute.”
“What do you mean can’t handle?”
“I mean she needs a break, a rest. She has spent the last two years running from America to wherever the next race is and then back to you and then back to Britain for testing. She needs a break.”
“You’re right, she does. I’ll see what I can do about getting over, the thing is I have to go back to work tomorrow.”
“Well, I will call my dad and see if he can get here to look after Jamie.”
“That would be great and I’ll let you know if I can come.”
“Thanks Matt.”
“No problem, and thanks for letting me know.”

“EDDIE!!” Ben shouted through the Jaguar garage to Eddie who sat on the bench at the back. He hoped of and came to the front where Ben stood. “Have you seen Chloe?”
“Not since she went into her trailer earlier. Why?”
“She did a runner from the garage and we can’t find here anywhere.”
“I have a spare few minutes. You want me to help?”
“Thanks Eddie. I’ll check the boat and other places ok?”
“Sure great, and don’t forget to check your trailer.”
“Will do.”
