chapter 9
Leah and Jeff had done back to Gil’s house as Jeff and Gil had convinced Leah to spend Christmas with them. It was late Christmas Eve night and Leah lay in Jeff’s bed, her head resting on his bare chest. She knew he was a sleep but she couldn’t get to sleep. She was so happy. She never wanted to be apart from Jeff. But she knew she would be. And it was going to be painful. Each day would go by so slowly. But they had agreed to call each other everyday.
Leah lifted her head and looked at Jeff. He was sleeping like a baby, a small smile on his soft, gently lips. He had one arms wrapped around her shoulders. Carefully she moved it, trying not to wake him. She got of the bed and headed downstairs into the living room. She flicked on the Christmas tree lights and sat on the over stuffed sofa and just stared at the tree.
Leah must have been sitting there for over an hour before she looked up to see Jeff standing at the bottom of the stairs.
“Hey.” He said softly as he made his way over to her.
“Hey.” She replied to him, her gaze never leaving the tree.
“What are you doing down here?” he asked as he sat down beside her.
“I couldn’t sleep. I have a lot on my mind.”
“Like what?” he asked as he brushed some hair out of her face as she looked at him.
“Everything.” She said with a blunt laugh. “I mean all this has happened so fast.”
“Us you mean?”
“Not just that.”
“I thought you didn’t mind, I thought it’s what you wanted.” Jeff said looking very worried.
“It is baby.” She said as she shifted in her seat until she was sitting sideways on Jeff’s lap. “Don’t be so worried. I mean that I moved here and I thought I was going to have the worst Christmas ever but now…” She said pausing to look at Jeff. “Now I have met you and your family and friends and you are all the most amazing people in the world. You have all made me so welcome in your homes and your lives. I feel so lucky. So happy.”
“Then what’s the problem?” he asked as he brushed away her tears.
“Nothing…it’s just that…I…I…” she said stuttering as she couldn’t get the words out.
“You what?” Jeff asked her, fearing the worst.
“I think…I think I have fallen in love with you.” She said. She watched Jeff’s expression change. His lips curved into a small smile. He didn’t say anything to her; he just pulled her gently down to him and kissed her softly.
“My turn to confess then.” He said as he held Leah’s face in one hand. “I think I’m in love with you too.” He said. “No. Actually I know I’m in love with you.” He said. Leah smiled down at him and kissed him lightly before holding him tight in her arms as he did her. “Come on. Lets go back to bed.” He said softly. Leah nodded and got up from his lap and she let him lead her up the stairs. He climbed into the bed and pulled Leah in with him. He pulled her on top of him and held her there. She lowered her head and kissed his neck softly. Slowly sucking on his Adam’s apple, which she knew drove him mad. She smiled as he moaned and arched his neck. Leah lifted her head and placed soft kisses on his jaw line. Slowly they led to his mouth, Leah kissed him deeply and he responded to her by king gently on her tongue.
They both finally had to pull away as they both were very short of breath. Leah slid off of Jeff and she lay on her side with her body resting up against his, her head resting in the crook of his neck. Jeff slowly stroked her hair as he helped her drift into a deep sleep and before he knew it he was doing the same.
