chapter 2

As the dance floor slowly began to clear the last song of the night was played. One for the couples. Leah hadn’t left the dance floor neither had Jeff but as it was a slow song Leah turned and headed of the floor. Leah soon felt a hand on her arm. “Where are you going?”

“Home.” She stated.

“Not with out this last dance you don’t.” He said smiling as he pulled her back to the dance floor, which was actually just the middle of Shannon’s living room.

“But….”

“But nothing.” He said as he pulled her up against him. “One more dance.” He said as he put his arms around her. She slowly followed suit and they began to sway to the slow soft music.

Leah let her head fall against Jeff’s chest. She sighed as she closed her eyes and just let him sway her to the music. She was nearly dead on her feet and she knew she had to walk home as Lindsay had taken the car to go back to Chuck’s hotel with him.

Jeff looked down at the small redhead in his arms. Annoyed as he heard the last chorus of the song end. Leah lifted her head and smiled up at him.

“Now I’ve really gotta go.” She said as he let his arms drop from around her.

“You want me to help you find your coat then?”

“Yeh sure thanks.” She said as she followed him.

“Them two seem to be getting on well.” Matt said as he watched Jeff and Leah disappear into the room the coats had been kept in.

“Yeh. I think she needs some friends. She misses England a lot and when Lindsay moves tomorrow she’s gunna be all alone.”

“Who’s Lindsay?”

“Here friend she came over here with. She’s moving down south when her place in sorted or something.”

“Well I’m sure we can look out for her.” Amy said as she finished her drink.

“Yeh we can. She’s a nice girl.”

“I’m sure she’ll make friends.” Matt said. “I mean she and Jeff seem to be getting on alright.”

“Yeh they do.” Shannon said as he smiled as Leah and Jeff came over to them. Leah had put on her coat. “You going already?” he asked as he set his glass down.

“Yeh I’ve got to walk home so I had better get going.”

“I thought you came by car?” Shannon asked slightly confused.

“I did but Lindsay went back to the hotel with your friend Chuck.”

“Chuck got lucky?? Good on him!” Shannon said grinning.

“Yeh something like that. Well I guess I’ll see you around then.” She said as she smiled and turned away.

“You’re not seriously going to walk across town in the dark and freezing cold?”

“Yeh I am.” She said as she turned back to them.

“I can give you a ride if you want.” Amy offered. “I’m going back to my place now anyway.”

“Na, it’s fine honestly I don’t mind the walk.”

“But it’s freezing cold outside and its no problem I swear.” Amy said giving Leah another friendly smile.

“It’s fine honest…”

“You’re coming with me!” Amy said laughing as she linked her arm in Leah’s and pulled her beside her so she could find her coat. Leah went with her quiet happy with the fact she didn’t have to walk.

“Do you wanna come in for a drink or anything?” Leah asked Amy as they pulled up out front of the house Leah owned.

“Sure if you don’t mind.”

“No problem.” She said smiling and getting out of the car. Amy followed her up the path and then the steps and Leah fiddled with the lock before it finally opened. She flipped on the light switched and ushered for Amy to come in, which she did. Leah shut the door and led Amy into the kitchen where she flipped the kettle on. “What would you like? Alcohol or hot drink?”

“Can I have coffee?”

“Sure no problem. Have a seat.” Leah said pointing to the chairs that sat around the kitchen table.

“You and Jeff seemed to get on well.” Amy commented as she sat down. Leah joined her at the table as she waited for the kettle to boil.

“He’s a nice guy. And he wouldn’t let me of the dance floor!” She said smiling as she remembered Jeff pulling her back time and time again as she went to leave.

“That’s Jeff for you he loves to dance.”

“I gathered that!” Leah said laughing.

“Shannon said you missed home.”

“Yeh I do. It’s stupid I now and I’ve only been here six days but I can’t help it.”

“I understand what you mean. I mean when the guys are on the road it’s hard, where always away from our families and friends. It can feel like you alone with no one to turn to. Am I right?”

“Yeh you are.” Leah said smiling and looking down at the table.

“But you got us lot to turn to know. One of us is bound to be around. All you have to do is give one of us a call.”

“Thanks I will do.”

“Have you got a bit of paper?”

“Yeh sure.” Leah said as she found a pen and hunted out a note pad. She hadn’t finished unpacking and boxes where scattered all around the house. But she found a pad by the phone and handed it along with the pen to Amy.

Leah made the coffee and went and sat back down with Amy. She looked at the bit of paper that Amy had written on.

“There is mine, Shannon’s and Jeff’s numbers. I would give you Matt’s but I can’t remember it of the top of my head.”

“Thanks. Are you sure they won’t mind you giving them to me? Because you guys hardly know me.”

“I like you, so do the other guys so that’s good enough for me as long as you don’t go handing them out.”

“I won’t. Why would I?”

“Because there are lots of fans who would pay money for them.”

“Fans?” Leah asked confused.

“Yeh our fans.”

“Huh?” Leah asked more confused.

“Were wrestlers in the WWF, well me, Matt and Jeff are, Shannon is HWA and Shane is WCW and we have fans all over the country.”

“Cool I never realised who you were.”

“You don’t’ watch wrestling?”

“No I never have. My parents don’t like that sort of thing so I never bothered watching it.”

“Well we’ll get you straight on that one. You’ll be addicted in no time.” Amy said laughing.

“Thanks for the coffee Leah.” Amy said as she stood on the front door step if her house.

“No problem. Call around anytime. I’m sorry it’s such a mess right now.”

“Hey you just moved in cut yourself some slack. You’ll get sorted.”

“Yeh and I have to paint the whole place as well!” Leah joke.

“Well if you wanna hand give me a ring and I’ll bring the guys along.

“I might just that.” Leah said.

“Well, I guess I’ll see you some time and I’ve got your number as well so ill give you a call and see if you wanna come out with us sometime.”

“Ok. Thanks.”

“Bye.” Amy said as she headed down the five steps and then down the path.

“Bye.” Leah called after her. After she had watched Amy drive of she went back into the house and locked the door as she guessed Lindsay wouldn’t be home that night. She leaned back against the door and smiled to herself, happy that she had met some people she got on with and liked a lot, even if she did spend most of the night with only one of them. Leah thought about Amy’s and her chat and she thought about how kind and caring she was.

Finally Leah walked into the kitchen and washed the mugs up before heading up stairs to bed.
