Chapter 2: Journey through The Past…

I can totally relax now.  It’s a miracle!  I called around and got the funeral all set up.  Wait, shit, I forgot about the script.  Damn, only two hours to get the conclusion finished.  Whatever, this job sucks anyway, and doesn’t pay well either.  So, I’ll be unemployed and won’t have anything to do with myself for a few months, not like I need a job anyway.  I only work because I love to write…That’s it.  That’s the only reason.  Money wasn’t on my mind.  Hell, I had enough to last me a few lifetimes.  Plain and simple…

When my mother had passed away when I was 7, she left me everything.  I woulda never have figured one person could have so much stuff…But I was proven wrong.  After she had died I went to live with my so-called father.  He used to abuse me, mentally and physically.  I couldn’t take it anymore, so one night after the beating of a lifetime; I went to the cops.  It sounds dramatic, but it’s true.  After a year of that abuse my father was arrested and I was sent to live with my Aunt, here in Jersey.  Lemme tell you, here in Jersey is totally different from living in beautiful California.  There it’s all fast and a lot of activity goes on, here, it’s like living in slow motion…Maybe it’s just where I’m at.  Who knows?  Anyway, I finally met Faith when I was 9.  We had gone to the same school and pretty much became friends instantly.  We had so much in common and she knew how I was feeling.  I could tell her anything.  So I thought.  Anyway, to sum it all up, we just “clicked.”  Everything was great from that day forth, until my 17th birthday came along…

Flashback:

“Wow Faith!  I can’t believe you pulled this party off for me!”  I was saying while running to Faith and giving her a gigantic hug.

“You deserve it Birdi.”  She said; using my mother’s nickname and hugging me tightly back.  I seriously couldn’t believe she pulled it off.  The party was in our school’s gym late at night.  I don’t know how she got everyone in, but she did it.

“I would’ve never figured Miss Goody two shoes could pull this off.”  I said sarcastically, giving her a goofy face.

“Well, believe it, cause it’s happening and it’s all for you.”  Faith said giving me that fabulous smile of hers.

I wanted to cry right then and there.  No one had ever done anything like this for me.

While chatting with Faith, dancing up a storm, and drinking enough to choke a horse, one of my good friends, Adam comes and taps me on the shoulder.

“What can I do for you Adam?” I slurred.

“Not much, I just wanted to come over here and say happy birthday to you and…” I cut him off before he could finish.  I slapped him on the arm and said, “Why thank you sweetie!  I’m having a ball.”

“Good to hear.  Anyway, I wanted to take you away from Faith,” he stopped and smiled at Faith, “And show you your present.”  Adam then smiled wickedly and grabs my hand.

“I’ll catch up to ya later chica!” I yell as I try to keep up the pace while Adam drags me along out of the gym…

Present:

Why me?  I thought he was my friend?  I wish that party never happened, I thought as tears started to well up in my eyes.  “It’s not Faith’s fault.  She had no clue what Adam was gonna do.  Hell, she thought he was gay.”  I chuckled to my self as a tear slid down my cheek.  “If she only knew the truth,” I told myself while thinking back.

Flashback:

“Adam, why are we in the Math hall?”  I asked a little dazed and confused.

“Because this is where you’re present is.” Adam said sweetly.  All I could get out of my mouth was “Oh,” before he pulled me down the Science hall and into a Biology classroom.  I stood there a few minutes, looking around, while Adam closed the door behind us.

“So, where’s my present?” I asked looking at him with confusion in my eyes.

“Right here.”  He said while advancing towards me like he was stalking something.  He got this fucked up smile on his face and fear started to build up in me and show through my eyes.

“Don’t be scared beautiful, I won’t hurt you, yet.”  He said, then laughed like he had said something hilarious.  He kept walking towards me and then abruptly stopped with only one or two steps away from me.  “Run!”  I kept screaming in my head, but it was like my feet were planted to the floor.  He had a maniacal grin and reached up his hand and rubbed the back of his palm against my cheek.  He then pulled his hand away from my cheek slowly then dug it into my hair.  I could feel the tears starting to form, but I dare not cry.

“Don’t,” I suddenly blurted out.

“Why?  What are you gonna do, hurt me?  I don’t think so.” He said evilly, while pulling me towards him and kissing me forcefully and rough.  Adam then pulled back and pushed me onto the lab table.  “What do you want?”  I asked stupidly while tears started to streak down passed my cheeks.  “You.” He said, and with a simple motion, my skirt was down, my shirt was up and my panties were off.

I didn’t know what to do, so I punched him, but the scary thing was, he didn’t flinch.  Adam then backhanded me and said, “Try it again beautiful and I’ll make it hurt more than it already will.”  I was hysterical at that moment in time.  What do I do?  My face stung like hell, my so-called friend was unzipping his jeans, and all my real friends were on the other side of the school having the time of their lives.

A shooting pain that made me feel like I was going to break into two suddenly interrupted my thoughts.  He was raping me and all I could do was lye there?  I was disgusted with myself, in pain and confused.  How could I let this happen?  How do I deal with this in the end?  How do I go out there and face all of my friends?  Do I tell anyone?  Will this pain ever end?  All of these questions were racing through my mind and then I realized Adam had finished and was now zipping his pants back up.

“I will find you and then hurt you if I find out you told anyone about the event that just took place here tonight.”  Adam sneered.  He then laughed and while leaving the room he said, “I hope it was as good for you as it was for me, Beautiful.”

The click of the door let me know that it was safe to let myself gain some composure and put my clothes back on…

Present:

Ring…

What is this, scare the crap out of Laura day?  I thought as the phone rang and brought me out of my daydream about that past.

“Hello?”  I asked a little groggily.

“What’s up?” A male voice asked.

“Hey Kev, nothing much, you?” I asked while smiling.  It was my cousin Kevin.  I haven’t seen him in a few years now.  Damn college.

“Ugh, nothing good, I was just checking up on you,” he said in a brotherly tone.

“Oh, nothing bad is happening here, if that’s what you wanted to know.” I replied with a sigh.

“Did I wake you?” Kevin asked.

I lied, “yeah you did, I’ve had a rough day.  I wanted to get a nap in before Faith gets here.  It’s her birthday so it’ll be a long night.”  At least some of it was true.

“I haven’t seen Faith in ages, let alone you.  But I’m sorry I woke you.  I’m finally home so call me when you’re free tomorrow.”

“It’s cool, and I will.  Love ya.”  I said.

“Ditto, peace.” He said then hung up.

I got up off the couch and walked towards the kitchen.  Faith’s gonna freak!  The house is actually clean I laughed to myself.  While pouring myself a cool drink I was thinking, and then it hit me…
