Chapter 9
Jeff and Lita came back to find Jami staring down the
hall in the direction Matt had gone. "Where did Matt go?" Jeff
asked. Jami turned to face him, a fake smile plastered across her face, "Oh,
he needed to go for a walk." Neither Jeff or Lita believed her, but
both decided to let it pass. Jami leaned heavily against Jeff while LIta
gazed searchingly around her. "Um, I'm going to go and walk
around for a bit." Lita told them. "Do you want
someone to go with?" Jeff asked but Lita shook her head. "No,
spend some time with your wife. I'll be fine." She told them before
taking off down the hall. Jami watched her leave sadly, "Oh
Jeff, what can I do to help her?" she asked. Jeff had no
answer for her.

Lita wandered slowly through the hall maze of hallways,
deep in thought. So deep in thought that she didn't notice the man
coming towards her, until she literally ran into him. She looked up in
suprise. "Lita! Your back! Does that mean your memory is
back too?!?" the man asked her. Lita shook her head sadly, "No,
I still haven't recovered my memory. I'm here with Jami and Tasha, just
visiting Edge, Jeff and Matt. Um, I'm sorry I don't remember you." she
told him honestly. "Oh, I'm sorry." he grinned,
extending a hand, "I'm Chris Jericho, also known as Y2J." Lita
grasped his hand and immediently felt at ease with him.
"Are you looking for something?" he
asked her. "No, I was just wandering around. I wanted to
give Jami time alone with Jeff and Tasha was with Edge." Lita
explained. Chris nodded, "Do you mind if I walk with you? I
need to walk off some nervous energy." he told her, grinning again.
Lita smiled widely at him, "I'd love that." she told him,
linking her arm through his.
***
Thirty minutes later Chris and Lita had made it back to
Jeff and Matt's locker room. Matt was standing outside the locker room,
leaning against a wall. He looked on in shock as Lita walked down the
hall, arm in arm with Chris, laughing. His eyes narrowed as they neared,
but neither Chris or Lita seemed to notice.
"Hey Matt!" Lita
greeted him cheerfully. "Hi Lita...Chris." Matt
growled. Lita looked at him confused. "I met up with
Chris while I was walking around and he started to walk with me." Lita
said, feeling the need to explain. Matt gave them a fake smile, "Well,
I'm going to go warm up." he told them coldly before stomping back
down the hall.
"What's his problem?" Chris
asked. "Me. I'm his problem." Lita answered
sadly. "How? What? Please explain." Chris
questioned. "I can't remember him. I've seen pictures of
us together, and I know we were in love...but I can't remember that, and I
think it frustrates him and he's growing to hate me. I think he and Jami
had a fight about it earlier. She wouldn't tell me, but I could see it
on her face. Oh...I feel like such a burden on them all." Lita said
as she started to cry. Chris wrapped an arm around her and eased her
into a sitting position on the floor, allowing her to cry on his shoulder.
