chapter 8

Jami and Lita reached Matt and Jeff's locker room and Jami knocked on the door.  Matt flung open the door with an impatient look on his face.  His look quickly changed when he saw who was at the door.  "Lita...Jami...Lita!  What are y'all doing here?" he asked.  "What? Can't we come visit two of the hottest men in the WWF?" Jami asked him.  He laughed and hugged her.  Then he hugged Lita, placing a kiss on her cheek.

Jami sighed impatiently, "And where is my man?" she asked, just as a pair of arms encircled her waist from behind.  "Hey baby." Jeff whispered into her hair.  She turned and kissed him.

"Hey, did you guys miss us?" Jami asked.  "Of course.  Kicking butt isn't half as much fun without y'all here to impress." Matt said with a grin.  "Oh Mattie, you never impress us." Jami joked, hiding behind Jeff.  Matt glared at her before turning his attention back to Lita.

"So, how are you doing?"  he asked her.  Lita shrugged.  "I feel okay, I just still don't remember much." Matt sighed heavily, "I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure it will come to you in time." Lita uttered a half moan, half frustrated cry.  "That's what everyone keeps telling me, but what if it doesn't!  What then?!?" Matt just stared at her, shocked by her outburst.  Jeff looked at the three people standing in front of him.  "Hey Lita, why don't we go down the hall and get something to drink." he suggested.  Lita nodded slowly and everyone could see she was fighting back tears.  Jeff gently placed an arm around her shoulders and steered her down the hall.

As soon as they disappeared Jami threw her arms around Matt.  He held onto her tightly and Jami knew he was devestated.  "Matt, she's not mad at you. She's angry at the situation."  Jami consoled.  Matt pulled away, "Yeah, but she's going to take it out on me, isn't she?  That's not fair!" Matt told her with a scowl.  "Matt, listen to yourself!  You make it sound like she's doing this all on purpose.  You just have to be patient with her!" Jami told him.  "It just doesn't seem like she's trying." Matt mumbled to her.  "And how would you know?  You haven't been the one with her these last few days!  You haven't been the one who has had to watch her cry! You haven't been the one who has had to just stand by, wanting to do something, and knowing you can't!  She has been trying!  Not it's your turn to try and be patient!" Jami told him with narrowed eyes, trying to keep her voice level under control.

Matt threw his hands up in the air and stomped down the hall without saying a word.
