Chapter 4
In Amy’s room the sat on the chairs and Lisa told Matt who all of Carly’s family was whilst Amy rang Vince and told their plan.
“So can you tell her the diva’s are doing a wedding shoot and you want her to be the bride because she’s is the women’s champion.”
“But she’s not and there is another problem with your plan...”
“Vince we don’t need problems right now, can’t you give her the title coz it would make the fans happy coz they all love her.”
“Listen, theirs no problem with her getting the women’s title, but I saw her about 20 minutes ago and she told me she wanted to quit the WWF so she could go back home. That’s the problem. Otherwise I am behind your plan 100%, but maybe we could hurry things up a bit and they could get married before she went back, then she wouldn’t go, would she?”
“Well, the only reason she’s leaving is she walked in on Jeff kissing Trish, well it was more like Trish kissed him because we were all playing truth or dare and when she did Carly walked in and got the wrong idea. But if they were married I know she wouldn’t go because they are so in love and I know she couldn’t leave.”
“Well, to keep her here longer I could tell her I’m having some problems with her contract.”
“Yeh that would be great”
“I’ll tell you what, you ring her family and get them on the first plane over here, don’t worry about cost we’ll put it through the WWF, I’ll arrange a place for the ceremony and stuff. But don’t let Carly know what’s going on, I think you have to tell Jeff, get Matt to arrange his family and friends. Ok?”
“Yeh, we’ll start right now. Thanks Vince.”
“Ok. Bye”
“Bye”
Lying in bed completely shattered, Jeff starred at the ceiling of the hotel room. He couldn’t believe that Carly was going to leave the WWF, the country and him. What had he done to deserve this, he loved her with all his heart, she was perfect, and he couldn’t change a thing about her. He couldn’t imagine being without her, he knew he loved her, but he couldn’t understand why she didn’t believe him. He thought about what he would feel if the same thing happened to him, if he had walked in on Carly and someone else kissing he would be completely mad and he would listen and understand that it was just a game. Of course he would listen and understand, wouldn’t he? He began to see how things could of looked a bit odd, he knew that Carly was always quick to be jealous of any girl that flirted with him and he was the same about her, but this was ridiculous, he had told her it was a dare but why wouldn’t she listen? He rolled over onto his stomach as the door to the room opened Matt crept in a closed the door trying not to let it bang. “I’m not a sleep, you don’t have to sneak around.”
“Oh, I just thought you would have been asleep by now.”
“Well, it’s kinda hard when I am trying to think why my fiancée is leaving the country, and me. But I’m sure you’ll have sweet dreams.”
“Jeff, I’m sorry about what happened, I know you love her, but we were just messing around. I heard about her quitting, so, Amy and me came up with a plan to get her to stay here, and with you.”
“I’m listening.”
“Well, the Vince is arranging the place, me and Amy are doing the friends and families, we need you to help us, you see the idea is to arrange your wedding and trick Carly into going because we’ll tell her it’s a wedding shoot and she will be the women’s champion by then, so she will be the bride. Then you get married.”
“Do you think it will work?”
“You know her better than anyone, but, I know she won’t leave you if you’re married.”
“Ok, but when and if she wants to quit, how are you going to stop her from leaving?”
“Vince’s is creating a problem with ending her contract.” As he said that Jeff jumped out of bed and embraced his brother. When Matt finally got Jeff of him he got into bed and fell into a deep sleep, he was knackered after a busy night, as for Jeff, he had fallen asleep before Matt, a broad smile across his face.
3:00am, Matt rolled over as he heard the knock on the door, he woke Jeff, but he didn’t want to budge, he got dressed, then dragged his brother out of bed. They had to drive 300 miles for the arena where Smackdown was going to take place on Thursday. Making sure they had packed everything they talked about more plans for the wedding.
Pulling her bright blue hair into a lose ponytail, Carly
sat on her suitcase as Lisa did it up for her. She returned the favour.
“Why does love have to hurt so much?”
“I wouldn’t know,
me and Chris have never had a fight, I guess we’re lucky.”
“You love him
then?”
“Yeh, I guess I do,
I think he might be ‘the one’.”
“Good on ya gal.”
Carly gave her a quick hug and then tried to lift her suitcase. “GOD!! What
the hell did I pack in this thing? I’m sure it gets heavier everyday.”
“I know, mine does
to.”
They dragged their
case out to the parking lot and put them in the WWF coach. They climbed on board
and sat beside each other. They rested their heads on each other and fell
asleep. When they woke up, Paul was telling them they we at the services and we
had a 30 minute break.
“Do you wanna grab
some coffee?” Carly asked as she sat up stretched and yawned.
“Yeh” They got up
from the seats and staggered of the coach. Carly looked at he watch and was
surprised to find it was only 6:15. She and Lisa walked in with them arms linked
to stop them falling over, as they walked past the entrance, Carly saw Matt,
Jeff & Amy sitting on a bench, they starred at her as she walked past but
she was still made and confused about what had happened, all she knew was she
was going home, soon.
Grabbed a coffee and
went to sit down but Lisa spotted Chris Benoit and they headed over to him, Lisa
and Chris kissed and Carly got the impression they wanted to be on their own so
she headed back towards the coach, she passed Jeff again, she felt so awkward as
she could feel him looking at him.
She walked a little
further and sat on the kerb by coach, she hugged her knees as she felt a hand
graze the back of her neck, she looked up to see Jeff, he sat beside her.
“Jeff, I’m to tired to argue.” She starred at the ground and drank some
coffee.
“I don’t want to
fight, I never did, but you wouldn’t trust me.”
“Jeff, I trust you
but I don’t trust Trish around you or any other girl, they are always all over
you, you must find it hard to turn them all away.”
“It’s not hard
when I’ve got the girl of my dreams, the only girl I want and the girl who
I’m engaged to.”
To his surprise Carly
stood up and left him there as she made a b-line for Trish.
“Trish, wait up.”
As she caught her up they stood face to face. “I just need to know what
happened between you and Jeff yesterday. I want the truth.”
“Ok”
Trish explained what
had happened and she admitted she got carried away and that Jeff did pull away
from her. “Thanks, I guess you think I’m really stupid don’t you?”
“No of course not,
if someone kissed my guy, I’d be pretty upset and wouldn’t want to listen to
him.” They hugged and then headed back to the coach, Carly headed for the
backseat where Jeff was sitting with Amy and Matt.
“Can I sit with
you?” she asked trying to get Jeff to look at her. Amy and Matt said ok, but
Jeff just starred out the window. “Jeff, can I?”
“Do what you
like.” He muttered as he carried on looking out of the window. She felt he
heart sink, she turned away from him and went back to her seat, she looked down
the bus and saw Lisa and Chris cuddling in one of the seats upfront, she sat
down on her own for the rest of the journey.
“Jeff, why the hell
did you do that? I thought that would be what you wanted.”
“It was until she
said she didn’t trust me around other women.”
“She said that?”
“Not exactly, but
that’s what she meant. And if she can’t trust me then I don’t wanna
know.”
“Jeff, your engaged
to her, you can’t just tell her that you don’t want to know any more, I
would be fucked off if I saw my boyfriend kissing another girl, can’t you
understand that?” Amy asked him as they sat in silence for about ten minutes
before Amy stood up and went to sit next to Carly. When she got there she saw
her lying across the seat, she was pale and she wasn’t moving. Amy put her
hand on her forehead, she was ice cold. “LINDA!!!!” she yelled up the coach.
“Come here quick!!!!” Linda soon arrived at Amy’s side and knelt
in-between the seats in front of Carly and the one she was lying on.
“Amy, go to my
purse, grab my phone and bring it here.” Amy pushed through the crowd that had
begun to form around the seats. “Carly, can you hear me? It’s Linda.” She
shook her gently but she still didn’t move. “Carly. Come on. It’s
Linda.” Amy pushed her way back through the crowd of superstars and handed the
phone to Linda. “I’ll call Vince and tell him we’re making a diversion to
the nearest hospital. You get something to put over her and try and keep her
warm and don’t forget to talk to her.” She got to her feet. “Ok ya’ll
get back to your seats.” The crowd moved away slowly, Linda went to talk to
the driver.
“Matt.” Amy
called down the aisle, she beckoned him to come down to her. As he got to her he
looked surprised to see Carly like that. “Can I have your jacket to put over
her?”
“Sure” Matt took
his bomber Jacket off and handed it to her. “Do you want me to get Jeff?”
“Yeh” Amy then
turned back to Carly and talked to her. “Carly, come on wake up, it’s
Amy.” Her voice began to quiver as Matt got back. She got to her feet. She
looked behind Matt and then to the back of the coach where Jeff was still
sitting. She wiped a tear from her eye.
“Why don’t you go
see Linda, I’ll stay here.”
“But you can’t
stand her.”
“That’s not true, and I can’t stand to see you cry.” He knelt be Carly and held her hand, he stroked her head as he had done that night they had spent together, but all he was worried about was her, he seemed to have lost all feelings towards her, love and hate, he could now only see her as his brother’s fiancée and a friend. He talked to her as he saw two men in bright coats standing behind him. He got up as they put her on a stretcher that lay in the wide isle of the coach.
“Can we go and see her now?” Amy asked a doctor as she stood outside the door to Carly’s room.
“Yes. Can you help her get changed? Because she won’t let any of us do it.”
“Sure.” The doctor left. “You better go tell Linda she’s nearly ready to go.”
“See ya at the coach then.”
As she went in she saw Carly trying to pull her trousers up. She could see her struggling. “Hey, let me help you.” She walked over to her and pulled her trousers up, she looked at her face, and she was still pale.
“Thanks.” She did the zipper up and then turned to try and grabbed the bed before she fell over. Amy grabbed her around the waist and helped her get onto the bed. Amy took the top of her and made her put her arms up so she could pull it over her head. She pulled it right down and then hopped on the bed and took her hair out and brushed it with her fingers, she then put it back into a ponytail and hopped of the bed. She took hold of her around the waist and helped her off the bed and they walked slowly out of the hospital.
“You can come sit with me on the back seat.” She told Carly as they made it out to the coach, they got on and the whole bus went silent, everyone looked at her. She made her way behind Amy to the backseat. Matt and Jeff got up and sat in the seat in front. Carly laid on the seat and rested her head on Amy’s lap, Amy stroked her head as Matt put his coat over her again, as she drifted of into a deep sleep.
“So Amy, what did they say was wrong with her?” Matt whispered so he wouldn’t wake her up.
“They said it is just pure exhaustion. They said she had to rest today and tomorrow but she will be ok for Smackdown.”
