Chapter 3

“So how are you going to fix things between her and Jeff?” Amy said as she and Matt drove towards the club.

“I had an idea but that was kinda stupid. It’s hard coz I don’t want Jeff to kill me if I bodge it up and it’s a bit over the top.”

“What was your idea? It can’t be that stupid.”

“Well, I thought we could arrange their wedding, with all of our family and friends and invite her friends and family over from Australia. Then we tell Jeff and we trick Carly into going out with you and we take her to the wedding and then they get married.”

“That is a brilliant idea, but won’t it take a while to arrange? And Carly won’t get to wear a wedding dress.”

“That’s the bad part, but, I guess we could get Vince to say that the divas are doing a photo shoot in wedding dress and bridesmaids. He just has to tell her she’s the bride. That might work, as for the family if we are going to do this we had better do start now.”

“Yeh, forget the club, her and Lisa share a room at the hotel, maybe she has an address book that Lisa could find for us.”

“We might as well try. Hadn’t we better ask Vince first?”

“I’ll ring him when we get to the hotel.” They then drove to the hotel talking about where and when they should have the wedding. Amy was getting excited, but Matt still wasn’t keen on Jeff marrying a girl who was 5 years younger than him. But that wasn’t his only reason, when Carly first arrived in the US, Jeff was on holiday, she became good friends with Matt, but when his girlfriend broke up with him, he was upset and Carly lent a shoulder for him to cry on but it went a bit further than comforting him, for one night they were lovers and Matt couldn’t for get that even though she wouldn’t let anything else happen, but she forgot about him the minute she met Jeff. Matt learnt to live with the fact that her and Jeff were in love and that they where getting married. He couldn’t help acting strange around her but he did, he always felt awkward but things were getting easier between them and hopefully they would be fine if this wedding thing pulled off.

“Vince can I talk to you for a second?” Carly asked as she stepped into Vince’s dressing room.

“Sure, close the door” Vince instructed her and asked her to sit down. “What’s up Carly?”

“Well, I don’t quiet know how to say this but I want to quit.”

“You want to quit? Why?”

“I want to go home.”

“Ok, when?”

“As soon as possible.”

“Well, I’ll see what I can do. You’ll be a great loss to the company, but I can give you recommendations to the AWC (Australian wrestling championship) if you want.”

“That would be great, thanks Vince, I’ve got to go.” She got up and left a shocked Vince in his chair.

As she walked down the corridor she had a million things going through her head. She was surprised that she actually had the guts to tell Vince, relief filled her body until she saw Jeff standing by the women’s changing room door. “Shit, what does he want?” she whispered under her breath.

“Carly, please listen to me, how can I explain if you want do that?” Carly just stood there and crossed her arms. “What happened with Trish was a dare, Matt dared her to kiss me, she got carried away but” she cut him off.

“But it didn’t exactly look like you were struggling to get away from her, and trust you to blame your brother, every time we have an argument it always seems to come back to Matt doesn’t it? How can I believe you? I walked in the door to see my fiancé in a lip lock with a beautiful woman, how the hell do you think that looked to me? Did you expect me to just pretend I never saw it? If you saw me kissing another guy what the hell would you be feeling? You wouldn’t be ready to listen to what I would have to say would you? Look, I just don’t know what to believe, so, I just don’t want to hear any more, ok?” she turned towards the door.

“Wait” she turned back to him, tears began to fill her eyes. “I thought people in love were supposed to trust each other, I love you and I know you love me, so why don’t you believe me? I know everybody said we rushed into everything but we are ready I know we are. Please you have to believe me, I love you and want to marry you…” she cut him short again.

“Before you say anything else you need to know something”

“What?”

“Firstly, I love you too, but I don’t know if I believe you and I need to sort my feelings out, and I have just been and seen Vince and I…. I”

“What?”

“I quit, I’m going back to Australia.”

“No your not, please be joking, you can’t do this to me, please tell me your not going.”

“I can’t, I’m going back home, I’m sorry” she saw Jeff’s eyes fill with tears and to stop herself doing the same thing she turned away and walked into the changing room.

“Hey Lisa, we were just wondering if Carly had an address book we could borrow?”

“Yeh, I think she does come in.” Lisa pulled the door open wider, Matt and Amy walked inside. “Why do you want it?”

“Well, as Matt bodged things up with Carly and Jeff, we are going to try and fix them, we’re going to arrange their wedding and we need to contact her family. But you can’t tell her a thing, ok?”

“Sure” she dug around in one of Carly’s bags and pulled out an address book. “Here you go” she handed it to them.

“We had better go make a start. Do you wanna give us a hand?” Matt asked as he flicking through the book.

“Yeh, why not.”
