Leah dropped to the floor by the counter and brought her knees up to her chest. She dropped her head onto them and cried. She could hear Jeff’s footsteps on the lino of the kitchen floor. Soon she could feel him kneeling in front of her.
“Leah, I’m sorry I shouldn’t have done that. I just want you back so bad Leah. It’s killing me. You are me. Without you, there is no Jeff hardy.”
Leah looked up at him. Pain filling her eyes. “You deserve better than me Jeff.”
“NO!!” Jeff snapped. “You and me are meant to be together.”
Leah pushed him away from her and she got to her feet. “Leave Jeff.” She said trying to calm herself.”
“No.” Jeff replied getting to his feet.
“Please Jeff, just go.”
“No. You do this every time. When ever I say we should be together you tell me to leave.”
“That’s because we can’t be together Jeff.”
“Why not?”
“Because even when we were dating we were never together.”
“What are you talking about?”
“We may have been dating Jeff but I got to spend one day a week with you! Not even that because when you go home you were always so tired and you went straight to bed.”
“We spent more time than that together. You came on the road with me.”
“Yes, because I was scared of losing you if I didn’t see you more than one in seven days.”
“You would never lose me because of that. You still haven’t lost me. This last six months have been hell Leah.”
“How do you think I have felt?! Huh?! I have that bitch ringing me up everyday, reminding me about all the nights you spent together, all the times you made love, all the time you spent together, and how in love you are.”
“I have never slept with Trish Stratus!! Yet alone made love to her! I avoid her like you would avoid the plague!!! And I’m NOT in love with her!! I hate her!! She made me lose the best thing that ever happened to me!! How could ever even look at her in that way when I have you.”
“Had me Jeff!!! We broke up remember.”
“How could I forget, you did it in front of all my friends and family!! Didn’t you even think about how the hell I would feel? NO!! I didn’t think so!”
“I didn’t care about how you felt because I could only feel the pain I was feeling. I had just heard that my boyfriend was fucking around behind my back!!!”
“I was not fucking around!!!”
”I didn’t know that!!! I was so angry and upset with you. Can’t you think
about how I felt?!”
“You said you could only feel your pain and I could only feel mine!”
“This is pointless Jeff! Now Leave!!”
“I don’t want to fight with you Leah. Please.” Jeff said all anger falling as he watched tears staining Leah’s face.
“But we can’t do anything else! Now please, just go.” Leah said again turning her back on him.
“I’m not leaving Leah. Like I said before I’m never going to leave you.”
“Please Jeff.” Leah said as he again placed hands on her shoulders.
“I’m never leaving you.” He whispered in her ear as she. Shivered from his touch and his breathe over her ear.
“I can’t do this Jeff, no more.”
Jeff ran his hands down her arms and pressed himself against her back. “We have to Leah. We are meant to be. I love you.”
“Jeff I so confused.”
“Don’t be baby. I love you. The question is, do you love?”
Leah paused before running from his grip and up the stairs into the bedroom.
Jeff watched her disappear. Again he looked at the clock. 3:43.
