| Background: The first NFWA X-Treme Champion, Downcast is arguably one of the biggest stars in NFWA history. After a series of battles with Live Wire and a brief feud with Kurt Angle, Downcast stepped onto the Main Event stage after losing to Crazy Lou in the finals of the NFWA World Title tournament. Downcast immediately became the chief rival to the Dynasty, receiving the shaft time and time again, until July 28, 2000, where Downcast defeated Krazed to win his first and only NFWA World Championship. During his one-month reign, Downcast felled many of the NFWA's top superstars, and even avenged his Maximum Carnage loss to Crazy Lou before dropping the belt to the unstoppable Professional at August's Hell on Earth PPV. After losing the belt, Downcast seemed to snap. Aligning himself with Kurt Angle and his former enemies, the Dynasty, Downcast sought to get back to the top of the fed by any means. However, after suffering a loss to Rick Bruiser at Breakin' The Rulz 2000, Downcast and the NFWA briefly parted ways. Months later, Downcast returned in grand fashion, ruining the wedding between Kurt Angle and his ex-girlfriend Jevona, and setting his sights back on Championship Gold. At January 2001's Total Annihilation PPV, Downcast battled Angle, Krazed and World Champion Lightning in a Double Jeopardy Cage match with all belts on the line. Downcast had a good showing at the event, defeating Angle to win both the I-C and X-Treme Titles before being just barely edged out by Lightning, whose split-second pinfall over Krazed allowed him to win the match and retain his title. After some brief time off, Downcast returned in May, defeating Johnny Havok for the TV Title as well as teaming with Rage to win the Tag Team Titles. He renewed his alliance with the Dynasty that June, and was one of the final five participants in the Ultimate Destruction Championship match at On Deadly Ground (in which Downcast managed to retain his I-C Championship). Downcast found himself back where he left off a year earlier: the #1 Contender for the NFWA Title. Unfortunately, injuries would hamper Downcast's progress, as an attack from renegade GNL wrestlers left him sidelined with a broken jaw. After losing his World Title match to Rage at Hell on Earth 2001, Downcast went into retirement.
