| Background: Joining the NFWA in May 2000, Angle made his first impact on the fed when he became involved with Downcast's girlfriend Jevona. After stealing her away from him, he and Jevona teamed to become the first mixed Tag Team to hold the NFWA Tag Titles. At Sin City, Kurt would lose a career match to longtime rival Kaos, but was reinstated by then-Commish Mick Foley a month later. Angle repaid the favor when he turned his back on Foley, joining the Dynasty along with Downcast. However, Angle would soon doublecross the Dynasty as well, aligning himself with the Rick Bruiser-led Revolution. After an intense feud with Sniper (which saw him engulfed in flames at 2000's Dead or Alive PPV), Angle again left the fed, returning in December as the Olympic Bad Ass, a moniker under which Kurt achieved his most success. In January 2001, as a member of Firestorm's Legion of Destruction, Angle held both the X-Treme and I-C Titles, winning the latter in a match with then-World Champion Lightning. At Total Annihilation 2001, Kurt lost both titles to Downcast, and afterwards, took some time off from the fed. He would make a few sporatic appearances (as NFWA Booker and even as a member of the GNL) over the course of the next year before making a final run in March 2002, losing a submission match with Kerrboski.
