Each wallpaper is shown in 800 by 600 size. If you have a resolution bigger than that, change your wallpaper settings to Stretch (instead of tile or center). To put a wallpaper on your desktop, click the small version and when the big version is done loading, right-click it, then click on "Set as wallpaper..." and you're done!
