When
I began my first semester of college I walked into the doors
of TEC with one goal in mind, to get a degree with as little
work as possible. I did fairly well with this the first two
semesters, I didn't come to class and I didn't do the work,
which gave me average grades. I was happy with the grades I
was receiving when I decided halfway through my first semester
to change my degree from CIS to Computer Applications. That
is when I met my worst enemy, Charles Robbins. Charles was known
throughout TEC as the instructor that didn't let his students
get away with anything, and from what I heard he liked to talk
a lot. I tried to continue my "great" pattern of missing
school while starting my third semester with Charles. He didn't
like this system of mine and visited me quite often at my dorm.
Finally in a last desperate attempt to increase my grades Charles
appointed me Computer Applications Team Leader. This was a position
of great responsibility and stress that somehow caused me to
straighten up. I came to school and did the work. I completed
my fourth semester with flying colors and began to like this
Charles guy a little bit. I began to ask him questions about
his prior military career and how the Army might benefit me
in my field. After months of trying to decide what I wanted
to do with my new degree I met with an Army recruiter. He informed
me of all the benefits I would be entitled to, including how
I would be of higher rank because of my degree in Computer Applications.
With all the benefits the Army was offering me I decided to
join, and glad I have my TEC experience to back me future endeavors
with the United States Army. If it weren't for the guidance
and close instruction I received while at TEC I would not have
had the chance of success I currently posses.
Thank-you,
PFC Thomas D Watson
