OhanaSkye Mews for September - December 2003
~Cattery Mews~

I had anticipated that this would be a monthly newsletter so I apologize for the lengthy delay in sending this out. We have lots of news to report so we hope you enjoy this edition of our newsletter.

~Litter Mews~

We have lots of activity going on in the nursery. Our oldest litter was born on July 7th to Molly with Noah as the sire. We have two kittens that are available from this litter, a blue male and a blue female. We were planning on keeping them both because of their blood lines and have determined that we have the blood lines covered in other cats. These two kittens are absolute sweethearts and would do well in any time of household with pets and/or kids. They have a really outgoing personality.

This is the blue male.

This is the blue female.

Our second oldest litter was born on 08/18/03 to Lilly with Tsunami as the sire. She had two seal boys, one blue girl and on chocolate girl. The two seal boys are available and will be ready to go in January.

Our next litter was born on November 16th to Coco with Max as the sire. There are two seal males, one seal female and one chocolate male. The two seal males will be available in March of 2004.

We have a couple of litters due and recently born that will have mostly blue kittens.

~Show Mews~

We have new show cats to introduce you to. First is CH OhanaSkye's Maliaha (Mariah). She is a gorgeous lilac point female out of Max and Molly who can play fetch with the best of dogs! She was doing well in the show ring, making finals at every show and was well on her way to becoming a Grand Champion. Unfortunately, Mariah recently had a uterine infection (pyometra) and had to be spayed. Because she is such a lovely young lady and loves to go to the shows, I will continue to show her in the Premiership class, which is a competition class for spayed and neutered cats.

The next kitty is very important to me as she represents a whole new line that we will be starting. I would like to introduce you to OhanaSkye's Noelani, a lilac lynx point Colorpoint Shorthair. She made her first final at the New Berlin, IL show a couple of weekends ago. If you would like to read more about the Colorpoint Shorthair breed, click here for CFA's Colorpoint Shorthair Breed Council website. The Colorpoint Shorthair is unique to CFA. All other associations consider them to be another color of Siamese.

Last but not least, we would like to introduce you to CH Fairydust Tropic Storm of OhanaSkye. "Stormy" is bred and co-owned by myself and Jennifer Wilson of Fairydust Siamese. There are four cats that I consider to be the foundations of my breeding program. Stormy contains three of those lines and has the look that we are striving to put together.

~Cat of the Month~

We really appreciate every single photograph sent to us by our customers, so to show our appreciation, we have decided to share them in our newsletter. Please email me if you do not want your pictures displayed.

Our cat of the month for December is so deserving of this award and so much more. One of our customers called and sadly informed us that their OhanaSkye kitty named Beatrice had snuck outside and was now lost. Her owners searched near and far for this lilac point beauty, going door to door, handing out posters to no avail. The family was so heartbroken that they decided to get another kitten from us to help with their grief, but never giving up hope that Bea would some day return. Almost two weeks after her disappearance, Bea's owner decided to take a different way home from work as he continued to search for her. Shortly after he arrived home, Bea came walking up the sidewalk to their front door. They think that she heard and/or smelled his diesl engine and followed it home.

So it is with great pleasure and happiness that I introduce to you Beatrice (lilac point in front) and her new brother Scooter (seal point in back).

~Quote of the Month~

If I called her, she would pretend not to hear, but would come a few moments later when it could appear that she had thought of doing so first.
