Beast Wars
Beast Wars was a follow up to the 1984 Transformers toyline and animated series. The Beast Wars toyline was released in the US in 1996 (the next year in the UK), with an accompanying TV series, produced by Mainframe (whose other credits include ReBoot and Shadow Raiders). The basic premise followed transformers that could transform into animals, rejecting the old Transformers concept of transforming into vehicles and other mechanical devices. Despite these changes, both the Beast Wars toyline and show proved to be very popular among old fans as well as new, until it ended around 2000.
