Lesson Twelve - Completing the Second Circle

Monday, April 19, 2004

Reading Materials:

bulletMandatory:
bulletNone.

Well, we are rapidly nearing the end of what I can teach you over the internet. I hope that you have had a very good time and learned a lot in CFFN. There's one more lesson left, yet, and it is about the Third Circle and getting your nifty certificate from me that says you've completed the Second Circle.

This lesson is REALLY a one on one lesson, quite literally.

I don't know what experience you came into CFFN with, and I don't want to be redundant. What follows is a list of topics that a Second Circle student is to have completed in order to be considered a full member of the Second Circle. I am trusting you to go over this list, and email me with ANY topic you feel you need more info on, at my Free-time email address, Kaatabasis@aol.com. I give you this email address because I am subscribed to no lists on it, it's just an address for Spam (well, it is AOL) and you second circle folk. Don't be ashamed to ask me for supplemental info on any of these things!!!!!!!!!

Where possible, I included books with more in depth detail than I give on AOW or in CFFN on the subject. You can go to these books or come right to me.

If you feel well grounded on this, please contact me and mention that. Make sure to tell me WHERE CFFN didn't help and where it helped the most. You will need to either mail or email me copies of your BOS documents. If you happen to be in MC or my area, you can just bring them to me.

It should be noted that in order to complete the Second Circle in a more than "provisionary" manner, a student "may form a working organization or coven that succeeds for one year or they may otherwise demonstrate leadership qualities, even if they do not desire to be leaders themselves." Feel free to contact me to help with this, too.

Yet another time I wish I had been able to finish this material.  *sighs* But such is the way of things.  I have gone through all of this material, some of it I can consider a refresher course on the basics, other stuff... well that was all new for me.  I honestly learned a lot about myself during these lessons, and I consider myself a wiser person because of it.

I wish to attempt to try and teach the things that I know to others, but now is not the time.  In the future I know I will become a teacher and a leader in my community, but I feel I need to learn and grow more.  I've been taking some really awesome classes offline at my local metaphysical store, and am now considered an Advanced Student with the classes there.  Since I am interested in magick, and Lady Kaatryn stressed on many occasions that if we're interested in magick we should learn it elsewhere, that's what I'm doing.  I've learned a lot about magick in my offline classes, how it is a science and an art.  It's really been fascinating.

One of my other passions is a love of history and lore, and have turned it towards learning about the Sabbats.  It's really been awesome.  I've written rituals for them and the Esbats, which is a lot more difficult than it first seemed.  But I believe I've gotten the hang of it.  I have a website dedicated to the Sabbats, and it can be found at Ravenna's Wheel of the Year, needless to say, I am very proud of the work I've done there.  I consider this website to be my online BOS, this is where I have most of my studies located, rituals, simple spells, deity research, and a joke or two.

This has been a wonderful journey for me, and I've really enjoyed the time that I spent here.  I've learned so much being a part of CFFN, and especially Clan Holy Well and Sacred Flame.  I know that originally, Lady Kaatryn had no intentions of creating a "family" type environment, but in the end, that's what it became.  I learned more being a part of the Clan than I had ever learned by myself, and feel that it was a very rewarding experience.

What I didn't find too appealing was the changes that were made in December of 2003.  It was sad to see the end of the group, just as it seemed, we were getting started, but all things must change, and so did I.  I tried to stay with the new format of CFFN, but found that with college, family, and a new baby on the way I could not keep up at this time.  I'll try again someday, but as of now, this is not the time for me.  And that's okay.  All things take work to pay off, and so I will continue to work to achieve my goals.
