901. THE FOUR AIMS OF AIR CADETS:
With the amount of new Recruits in 692 Air Canada RCACS, it is essential that all the NCOs know what the four aims of Air Cadets are. Cadets and their parents are bound to ask an NCO at some point in time. To maintain an understanding for the reason Air Cadets exists is important so that NCOs can convey this information to Cadets and their parents. Below are listed the four aims of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets:
- 1. To develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship
and leadership.
- 2. To promote physical fitness.
- 3. To stimulate an interest in the air activities of the
Canadian Forces.
- 4. To promote and encourage continuing education among young people, a practical interest in aeronautics and to assist those intending to pursue a career in the field of aviation.
902. NCOs, THINGS TO REMEMBER:
- 1. As an NCO it is your responsibility to set an example for dress and deportment.
- 2. Ask no more of your Cadets than you would of yourself
- 3. Be FIRM, FAIR, and FRIENDLY with everyone, especially new Recruits.
- 4. Be approachable. The Cadets should not fear you they should admire you.
- 5. Be respectful to everyone.
- 6. Observe duty schedules. If an NCO is assigned a duty they must show up for that duty or have made arrangements for that duty to be covered.
- 7. Use your common sense.
- 8. Be aware of all events and activities.
- 9. Teamwork is expected from all the NCOs regardless of who an NCO might work with.
- 10. An NCO must learn to use his/her own initiative.
- 11. An NCO must know his/her duty, and should not have to be told to do something.
- 12. If an NCO is not in class or teaching they are expected to assist in the office or on the parade square with drill.
- 13. If an NCO notices any type of problem, the problem must be resolved as promptly as possible. Notification of any problem must travel up the chain of command.
