“24-18,” Ally said triumphantly. “Are you guys even playing?” Ally looked over at Matt challengingly.
“Yeah, but it would help if Josh over here would get his act together and work it.”
“Right Matt,” Josh said sarcastically. “Blame the extra. It’s all my fault.”
Matt ignored Josh and ran over to Ally to check the ball. “All right girlie girl. It’s on now.”
“You think so?” Ally dared as she threw the ball to Matt.
“Oh yeah.” Matt said. He threw the ball over to Josh who was being guarded by Nick. Because Josh happened to only be 5’10’’, he had no chance over Nick (who is 6’2”). Nick easily intercepted the ball and tossed it without effort to Ally who sunk yet another shot.
“Booya!” Nick yelled. Nick ran over to Ally handed her a series of high fives. “That’s 26. We win.”
Matt and Josh watched enviously as Nick and Ally celebrated their victory. It had only been one week since Sometimes Love Stumbles had begun taping and already it was obvious that Nick and Ally were becoming incredibly good friends. Not that either of them hadn’t opened up to everyone on set, but sometimes, the two of them were never apart. A sudden ring from Nick’s cell phone ceased all conversation.
“Hello,” he said.
“Hey Nikkers. What’s up.” The voice on the other line could only have belonged to Brian.
“Hey,” Nick said. “Nothing much here. Ally and I just finished kicking some major butt on the courts.”
“Ally eh? Who’s Ally?” Brian said.
Nick covered the mouthpiece and quickly hugged Ally a goodbye before disappearing towards his trailer to talk to Brian.
Once he had shut the door to his trailer on set, Nick resumed talking with Brian. “Ally is my co-star Bri. You should see this girl, she’s amazing.”
“Ahh, little Nicky has a crush.”
“Not even,” Nick said turning bright red. “Ally and I are just really good friends.”
“Right Nick,” Brian said completely not believing a word out of Nick’s mouth. “If you didn’t have a crush on Ally, you wouldn’t have taken an hour to answer my question. Anyway, how’s the movie going?”
“We started shooting last Saturday. It’s pretty fun actually.” Nick began. “But it’s a ton of work.”
“Wait, a movie…ton’s of work, who’d of thought? Hold on a sec. Kev wants to say hey.”
Nick waited while the phone was passed from Brian to Kevin. “Hey Nick. How are you?”
“Pretty good,” Nick said. “How ‘bout you.”
“Scared,” Kevin said. “Brian and I are at this family reunion thing in Kentucky. I swear, if I eat anything else, I am gonna have to go running until we start recording again.”
“How are Bone and D?” Nick asked.
“AJ’s in the Bahamas for the rest of this week and last time I heard from Howie, he was sleeping 24-7.”
“That sounds about right.” Nick said.
“Hold on Nick. Brian wants the phone back. I’ll talk to you later.”
“See ya Kev,” Nick said. Moments later Nick was connected with Brian once again. At the same time, someone knocked on the door of his trailer. “Hold on another sec Bri.”
Nick walked over to the door and opened it. It was Ally.
“We’re shooting the depressing ice cream scene in 45 minutes. You are wanted in make up in less that 5 minutes.”
“Who else is in this scene?” Nick asked Ally.
“Matt and Rachel.”
“Okay, I’ll be right there. Hold this,” Nick said as he thrust the cell phone into Ally’s hands and ran to change his shoes. “Say something,” he yelled.
Ally put her ear to the phone. “Hello?” Ally asked.
“I am guessing that this isn’t Nick.” Brain said. “Are you Ally?”
“Yeah, how’d you know?”
“This is Brian, I’m one of Nick’s friends.”
“I’ve heard about you.” Ally said. She paused. “Nick is running around looking for his other shoe. Does he do this kind of stuff a lot?” Ally stuck her tongue out at Nick. Nick returned with the same gesture.
Brian laughed. “You mean loosing anything not strapped down. Pretty much.”
“I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks,” Ally said laughing.
“I take it that you guys are going to be busy in a minute or so.”
“Yeah, we get to sit in a chair for 40 minutes while people put like, 100 pounds of makeup on our faces and comment on how they are never going to get our hair done in time for the shoot.”
“Sounds like fun.”
“You know it,” Ally said. “Well, I think that Nick finally is ready. I’ll give you back to him.”
“Nice to meet you Ally.” Brian said.
“You too Brian.” Ally tossed the phone back to Nick. “I’ll meet you outside Carter. Move your butt.”
“Don’t I always?” Nick said as he wiggled his butt jokingly in Ally’s direction. “Hey Bri.”
“She’s nice Frack. Do me a favor?”
“What is it?” Nick said a little annoyed. “Wait, I know. Don’t mess this up.”
“Well, that and STOP TALKING TO ME AND GET TO WORK.”
“Thank you Frick. I’ll talk to you later.”
“B’bye.”
Nick pushed the END button on this phone and joined Ally outside his trailer. Together they walked towards the set and began yet another day of filming.
