Chapter 48

~Amy’s point of view~
“How about this pair?” AJ held up a pair of sunglasses in American Eagle.
“Are you planning on trying on every pair in the store?” I asked, incredulously.
“Perhaps,” he put on a sly smile. “So which one do you think I should get?” he held up two different ones that looked very similar.
“Hmm… well, although you have like 200 pairs at home so you probably have several pairs like it already, that one,” I pointed to the pair in his right hand.

He walked us to the cash register to purchase it. I looked around the store. Some guy was walking in. He was about 6 foot tall, dark black hair cut right past his ears, a dark pair of sunglasses covered his brown eyes, and a gorgeous smile was plastered on his adorable face.
‘Oh no,’ I thought. ‘It can’t be…’
“Amy? Babe!” he ran up and gave me a hug. This caught AJ’s attention, as he grabbed his newly purchased shades.
He gave me a ‘who is this and why is he hugging you, my girlfriend’ look.
“Um… AJ, this is Jeremy,” I introduced. “Jeremy, this is my new boyfriend, AJ.”
The “new” stood out to AJ and clued him into that this was my old boyfriend. The old boyfriend who’d dumped me and left me heartbroken not too long before I met and began dating AJ.
“Hey, AJ,” Jeremy held out his hand to shake AJ’s. AJ took it slowly and not very happily.
“Well, we were just about to grab some lunch, but it was good seeing you,” I told Jeremy.
“Oh, okay. Too bad we couldn’t talk longer,” he looked almost sad.
I shouldn’t have done what I was about to do. I knew it. But I couldn’t stop myself. “Why don’t you join us?” I wondered.
His smile came back, “Sure. That is, if you don’t mind of course.”
“No, of course not,” I ignored AJ’s anger that I could see in his face.
“Where to?” Jeremy asked.
“McDonald’s,” AJ answered, shortly.
“Really? They’re foods kind of greasy. Wendy’s is much better.”
That was probably one of the worst thing’s he could’ve said to him. “I like McDonald’s,” AJ kept his choice.
“Why don’t we go somewhere you both like. How ‘bout Cracker Barrel?” I asked.
“Fine,” AJ said, not very happily. We went, waited awhile, and finally got our table.
“Wow,” Jeremy said.
“What?” I asked.
“If it’s possible, you look even more beautiful than the last time I saw you,” he flashed a grin.
I giggled. “Thanks. You, too.” I wasn’t trying to flirt. But this was my first love we were talking out. We’d dated all of Senior year. Gone to prom together. I’d known him since I was 13!
The waitress came to check our order. I saw AJ check her out, even through his sunglasses. “Hello, sweet thang, how are you today?” AJ asked her.
“Just fine,” Dianne, according to her nametag, said. “What can I do for you?”
“I’d like a steak and a pepsi,” he ordered, not taking his eyes off her. If he had, he would’ve seen the scowl on my face.
“Salad and milkshake,” I ordered.
“Chicken tenders and fries,” Jeremy continued.
“So how have you been?” I focused my attention on Jeremy, mad at AJ for flirting with Dianne.
