Chapter 29

When I woke up the next morning, Brian’s dad was at work, his mom was grocery shopping, and Brian and Harold were still asleep. I watched some TV.
“Hey sweetie,” Brian came down in a white sleeveless shirt and smiley face boxers.
“Nice shorts,” I laughed.
“I know,” he stated.
“What’s on the agenda for today?”
“Want to go to the pool? Harold’s girlfriend is a member of the YMCA and they invited us.”
“Sure, I still haven’t gotton all the sand outta my hair from the beach.”

A few hours later we arrived at the Y with Harold and Amanda, his girlfriend.
“Hey, Panda, this is Erin, and my brother, Brian.” Harold introduced us.
“Hey,” she said.

We dropped our stuff down on some free loungechairs. The pool wasn’t too crowded for this early in the morning.
“How long have you been going out with Brian?” she asked.
“Just about less than a week. But I’ve known him since middle school.”
“Okay. Any Anti-Erin websites yet?”
“Anti-Erin websites?” I wondered.
“Yeah. It’s just part of being the girlfriend of one of the world’s biggest singer’s. Although here in the U.S they just started becoming popular with ‘Quit Playing Games,’ they’re already at the tops of the charts in places like Europe. They start to make them as soon as a relationship gets serious.”
“Surf the web a lot, do we?” I laughed. I didn’t really like the idea of people I didn’t know writing stuff about me on the internet.
“Well I work on the computer a lot.” She defended herself.
“Hey, are you guys getting in or what?” Harold came over.

I looked at Amanda. “We’re coming,” she called.

Brian was still in the water.
“Is it cold?” I asked.
“No, of course not!” he smiled.
“Yeah right.” I bent down to feel the water. He started inching towards me. “Nuh uh, you are not pulling me in there!”
“Oh, okay..” he started to splash me.
“Man! It’s freezing! Thanks a lot!” I got in to get adjusted to the water.
“It’s about time,” Brian complained.
“Eh, what can I say?”

We swam for awhile and then got out to get dried off. Some girls were near us had a cd player and were blasting music.
“Hey, what song is that?” I asked. The voice sounded familiar.
Brian listened to it. “ ‘Like A Child.’ By none other than the Backstreet Boys!”
“You guys don’t sing that song. How come I’ve ever heard of it?” I questioned. “I’ve memorized all the songs on the cd.”
“Well that wasn’t our first CD. Our first was ‘Boys Will Be Boys,’ then we came out with ‘Backstreet’s Back,’ which came out in Canada. That’s what their listening to. The US cd is a compilation of the first two.”
“Wow, I need to start reading up on you guys!” I was astonished BSB had done so well, not that I was surprised.
