Chapter 25

~Erin’s point of view~

We had been driving a few hours. The sun was setting over the mountains. “Aww, it’s a kodac moment!” I said, looking at the sunset.
“How much further?” Brian asked.
“A long ways to go, we’re still in Virginia.” I pointed out.
“Let’s get something to eat, I’m starving!”
“K, where’re do you want to go?” I wondered.
“ ‘At McDonald’s today.’” He sang to the tv infomercial. “There’s one,” he pointed a moment later.

We pulled into the fast food joint and ordered. I got some fries and he got some chicken nuggets.
“Food!” he said, sitting down at a table. “It’s been so long!”
“ Jeez, you act like you’ve never seen it before!” I laughed. "Have you called your parents to tell them when we’re going to get there? Oh, and the fact that I’m coming.”
He looked at me with a blank face a minute. “I knew I forgot something. I will later. Let me dine in peace first!” he laughed. He opened the bag to get out his chicken nuggets. "Eww! What the heck is that?" he cried.
I followed his gaze. "Oh my gosh...it isn't..."

Along with his chicken nuggets was part of a chicken's head...
"I think I'm going to be sick!" I said, throwing my fries into the garbage.
"Ditto... Let's go, I think I just lost my appetite." he groaned. (Author's Note: At a McDonald's near me they found a chicken head in the food the other day.)
“Man, this summer is going by so fast! Only a little over a month til school starts back up.”
“School?”
“Yeah, Brian, I’m in college, remember?”
“I remember, I just can’t imagine not seeing you every day like its been for the last two weeks.”
“Well, we still have a month. Let’s enjoy the summer while it lasts. I can’t wait to see you guys do the music video! It’ll be awesome!”
“Yeah, except I’ll have to get up at like 3 am!” Brian groaned. I laughed.
“Come on, let’s get going. It’s already 8 o’clock and we still have like 4 hours of driving to do!”

We went back in the car. “Shot gun!” Brian called.
“There’s only two people! Who are you competing with?” I asked.
He looked around thoughtfully. “Um..Casper! Yeah,” his face turned a little red. He turned on the radio. “As Long As You Love Me” was playing. “…People say I’m crazy and that I am blind, risking it all in a glance..” Nick was singing.
“Man! Change the station! This is such a gay song!” I complained.
“Hey! I resent that remark!” Brian faked a hurt look.
“Your parts coming up, sing it!” I said.
“Why? It’s playing on the radio.”
“But its better live!” I whined. “Pleeeeeaaasssseee?”
“Every little thing that you have said and done, feels like its deep within me. Doesn’t really matter if your on the run…” Brian made the motion like he was running, “As long as you’re here with me.” Both the Brian on the radio and the Brian in the car sang.
