~Nick’s point of view~
We were sitting on the airplane. Me and Heather had fought over the window seat, but I had lost miserably.
“Man, Nick, good job showing her who’s boss.” AJ mocked me. He was sitting on my right.
“Shut-up, I don’t let women control me.” I shot back.
“Yeah, you sure proved that!” he said, sarcastically.
“Watch me get my seat back.” I whispered. “A lil thing called male domination.”
I turned back towards Heather, (although not making eye contact) and put on my best pouty face.
“Get over it, Nick. I got here first, therefore I had choice of seats.” She smiled, ‘sweetly.’
"Well.." I didn’t have anything to say to that.
“Ooh, nice come-back!” she laughed at my lack of words.
The guilt trip didn’t work.“Well how about this?” Plan B: I reached over and started tickling her.
“Ahh..Nick--stop--it!” she laughed, hysterically. “Please! I’ll- I’ll give you your seat!” she said, after a minute of ‘torchure.’
”Promise?” I asked. She nodded, still laughing. I stopped tickling her. “That’s how it’s done.” I said to AJ, quiet enough so Heather couldn’t hear me. We switched seats.
‘Hah! Another point for man-kind. That shows that women can’t push us around. We always get our way!’ I thought. I had gotten my seat. I sat there contently. Then I looked over at Heather.
That’s when Heather gave me the ‘look.’ You’ve seen it, the female gender uses it all the time. The look that no one can describe until you’ve seen it yourself, being used on you. It’s a manipulative ‘innocent’ glare that makes you feel like scum. I felt a wave of guilt run over me.“Fine.” I got up and we switched back.
“Yeah, Nick, you sure showed her!” AJ laughed.
“Oh, shut-up.”
~Heather’s point of view~
‘Works everytime.’ I thought, smiling.
