Chapter 22

“I can’t believe I missed him..” I repeated to myself. I turned and began to walk away. “I never got to tell him…”
“Tell him what?” a voice asked.
“Oh no, no, no…” I cursed myself, blushing. Then turned around, although we all know who it was.
“Hey, happy to see me?” he smiled.
“Yeah, of course… just embarrassed.” I said.
“So what was it you wanted to tell me?”
“Umm..well…” I studdered. I’d gone all this way, and now I couldn’t even say what I came for. “What are you still doing here?” I asked.
“I asked you first. Don’t change the subject.” He grinned.
“You think your so smart don’t you…”I muttered. “Look, remember when I talked to you last before you left to join the Backstreet Boys?” I asked.
“Yeah, like it was yesterday.” He admitted.
“Well, I had sorta called to tell you I had feelings for you.” I sputtered.
He looked surprised. “Really? Why didn’t you?” he wondered.
“Well, you sounded so happy about going…I figured, what’s the point?” we sat down next to each other.
“So you came to the airport right before I left, after we’d seen each other every day for two weeks, to tell me you had feeling’s for me in high school?” he asked.
“Well, that’s not exactly all of it… I not only had feelings for you in high school, but, but they never really went away…” I sped through. I have a tendancy to talk faster when I’m nervous.
“So Nick was right?” Brian asked.
“Yep.” I admitted. “But I know you like Jen and not me so I don’t know what I’m doing here, I just didn’t want to regret not telling you like the first time I guess.” I got up, turning away.
“Do you know why I didn’t catch the plane?” Brian asked.
“No, why?”
“To be able to do this.” He got up, put his hands around my waste, and kissed me.

At that moment the rest of the world ceased to exist. Everything was just us.
