The Mummy
Imhotep, most high priest of Egypt, falls in love with Pharohs's daughter, and she him. Unfortunately the fair princess dies, and the desperate Imhotep uses the sacred Scroll of Thoth in an attempt to bring her back to life. Imhotep is caught in the act by the Pharoh's guards, and the ritual is interrupted. For this blasphemous act the priest is mummified and buried alive with the magical parchment so that no others may attempt the unholy act.
Time passes, and 3700 years later, the
sarcophagus of Imhotep and the scroll are
uncovered by a team of archaeologists from
England. One of the naive fellows reads the
scroll (even though the group is aware of a
terrible curse upon the parchment), thus
bringing Imhotep back to life!!
The now living mummy takes the scroll and
flees, leaving the poor archaeologists
hopelessly insane from the shock.
Several years later the tomb of the princess
Ankhsonomen is unearthed with help of the
mysterious Ardeth Bay (Imhotep in disguise).
Still seeking to bring her into the world of
the living, Bay discovers Helen, whom he
believes to be Ankhsonomen reincarnated.
Preparing to make Helen into a living mummy
like himself, Bay is thwarted when his victim
calls upon the goddess Isis to smite the
mummy. Imhotep is destroyed, and the scroll
burned to ashes.
Death is but the doorway to new life--
We live today-we shall live again--
In many forms shall we return--
