The site totally dedicated to AFRL football is here! No picking players, no checking stats, and no fretting about injuries (well...to a certain extent). This game is all about team backing...so no more fretting on who you will start at WR in week 3! $20 gets you in to the action! You're probably wondering why it's called football chess. Well...for one...it sticks out most to me like a game of chess. In this game's case, you have 32 pieces (one for each NFL team). Some pieces can do more damage than others (good football teams that win {Indianapolis and New England} and bad ones that don't, {Cincinnati and New York}. The players that can effectively use their pawns (Bengals and Cowboys), along with their Queen and Rook (Indianapolis and New England), usually demonstrate the ones that last from the ones that don't. AND...a chess board has 32 total pieces...coincidence? I think not. So this game in short...football chess! (Just go with it) The rules to this game are fairly simple, with a few wrinkles that I have added to help subdue any potential bickering. Each week, a player (that's you) will pick an NFL team to back (i.e. to win). If your selected team wins their football game against another NFL team...you move on to the next week. However, once you pick a team, you cannot pick that same team again for the rest of the season! You MUST give me your week's team selection by midnight, Wednesday for that week! DON'T BE LATE!! If you are, it results in the use of a default pick, or an automatic loss for that week if the default pick was used. What is a default pick? If a player forgets to send in their pick in a given week, I will incorporate a "Default Pick" of a team that was given to me at the beginning of the football season. Once a default pick is used, the player must submit to the webmaster a new default pick to use..."just in case". The rules for a default pick can be found by going to the Q&A section of the website. At the end of 17 weeks (and playoffs if need be), the player left standing takes the pot of $$! Be mindful of using the teams that may make the playoffs in the early weeks...if you don't have a team to pick once the playoffs come around...you're out! The players will consist from 20-25 people, with multiple slots for one person/family welcome. There will also be a side pot to this game, where each person will pick the winner of each AFC and NFC division (8 teams total). The side pot will consist of 20% of the total money (so if 15 people play, the winner of the big pot will receive $240, and the side pot winner will receive $60). So...even if you lose out on your chance to win the big prize, stay tuned to see if you can still win 20% of the total funds at the end of the regular season! The person that has the most division champions correctly picked will win the side-pot. In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker between players will be total wins during the main big-pot game. To make this year more interesting, I've made this year TRIPLE ELIMINATION...meaning...you have THREE strikes before you're out! So...in week one, if you happen to pick Miami to win, and the Dolphins lose, you're still in the hunt. In week two, if you pick Cincinnati to win, and the Bengals lose, giving you two loses in a row...you are STILL IN THE HUNT!! As long as the team you pick in the following weeks don't lose, you can still win the big prize! Survival of the fittest! Outwit...Outlast...Outplay! If you forget to email me your pick, I will automatically use one of your strikes (if you have one) or your default pick/team if applicable. If you've already racked up two strikes...and you haven't sent me a default pick...you're out! So stay in the game to stay alive! Cost to play is $20. Players must submit the team they want to back EACH WEDNESDAY by Midnight PST, starting September 8th for week one. Why so early in the week? That way there is no ambiguity on when each person should submit their pick...and remember...some games start on Thursday! (Including week one). Remember...there will be some games on Thanksgiving and Christmas that fall on a Thursday...so the Wednesday date makes sure that EVERYONE knows when their picks are due...EVERY WEEK. I know that the infirmary reports don't come out until Wednesday, but having until midnight should give you ample time to check out the status of player injuries and still shoot me an email. Each player must submit their pick via email to me. I will post your info on your team before the FIRST scheduled NFL game each week...probably Thursday or Friday. Every time I update, the date will change on the main page. DON'T BE LATE with your pick. Having everyone's submittal on time makes it a fair play for everyone. I will reveal everyone's selection for the week AFTER all players submit their pics for that week and/or the Wed, 12pm PST deadline. Be sure to check back to this site to see how you stack up, and how everyone else is doing. I'll also be posting messages talking smack, posing questions to the mass. Have fun with it, and happy playing! As always...email me with questions. |
