Below are some commonly asked questions that may help you out when trying to figure out this game.  As always, if your inquiry isn't discussed here, email me at any time.

Oops!  I forgot to email in my pick!  It's Friday afternoon, can I send it to you now?

That's one of the reasons that this game is triple elimination (see rules).  In fairness of everyone, PLEASE send me your picks on time, every WEDNESDAY on or before 12am PST.  It not only makes it easier on me, but it gives a solid date so everyone sends in their picks at the same time.  Remember...no pick = strike or the use of your default pick...assuming you gave me a default pick and it wasn't a team already used in your team lineup.  I will not post anyone's selection for the week until all players have sent in their picks!  Don't be the guy holding up the ship!

What if EVERYONE loses in a week?

Well...I suppose it's possible.  If that happens, all active players will then have a strike for that week.  If a player already used their first & second strike, then they are eliminated.  A probable scenario:  If there are three people left in week 9, and all have two strikes going into the week and all lose, then those three individuals will split the main-game money evenly.  The main pot game would be over at that point.  If all three players lose, but one of the players still only had one or two strikes, then that individual with no third strike to would take the whole pot...since he would be the only player left in week 10.  Remember...last man standing wins.  Outwit...Outlast...Outplay....just like survivor.

The team I picked for the week tied their game, now what?!?

Congratulations.  Ties count as wins...on to another week 4 U...

Ok, it's the first round of the playoffs, and I have a team that has a first round bye.  But the rest of my selections are not playoff teams.  The guy(s) I'm playing against have a wildcard team, so does that mean I'm out?

Well...first of all...kudos to you for holding on to that first-round bye team for this long!  Having a high caliber team in your back pocket after 17 weeks should be commended!  But as to the question, IF you have no team to play in the wildcard round, but YOU DO have playoff teams at your disposal (teams with byes), then you earn a rare FREEBEE since you have no team to play in the wildcard round.  Keep in mind, you only have a FREEBEE if you (1) Have a playoff team to play, and (2) that playoff team is not playing the first week of the playoffs (wildcard round). The player(s) that have a wildcard team must play that team, regardless if they have a first-round bye team at their disposal (i.e. they don't get a FREEBEE).  Once you use a team, that same team cannot be used again...just as in the regular season.  If you are one of the parties that has the FREEBEE, and everyone that has a play in the wildcard loses with three strikes, since you're the last man standing, you automatically win.

We give out these FREEBEE's to not fault you for the NFL's playoff structure.  It also encourages you to save some of your "good teams", or playoff potential teams, until the end of the season should this scenario come to fruition.

Let me stress, if YOU DO have a wildcard team to play, regardless if you have a first-round bye team at your disposal, you still MUST play that wildcard team.  Something to think about as regular season starts to wind down...strategy always plays a part in this game, use your picks wisely!

Also, a reminder, the playoffs only have a limited amount of teams playing each week.  If you don't have a team to pick in ANY given week (including playoffs), it's an automatic loss for you.  If you already have a loss, you're out.

Probable Scenario:  You have no strikes going into the playoffs, but the teams to play at your disposal feature no playoff teams.  Since you have no team to play...you get a strike for each week you can't play a team.  BUT...you can still win the game overall if the rest of the players accumulate their third and final strike in the 1st and 2nd round of the playoffs.  Since you would be the last man standing in the 3rd round of the playoffs...you win...even if you didn't have a team to play in the first two rounds!  (Lucky You)

Playoff structure is as follows:

8 teams (first round playoffs), 8 teams (second round playoffs), 4 teams (third round playoffs), 2 teams (fourth round playoffs)

Make sure you put yourself in position to have a play each week!

Ok...I've been doing really good in this game, but I lost in the conference championship game, and I already used the two teams that are playing in the superbowl.  Can I cash in my strike to get the chance to play one of the teams that's playing in the superbowl against the other teams?

No.  There is no "cash-ins" in this game.  If you only have one strike going into the superbowl, and the other guy has two, wait out the game.  If the other guy wins with his team that he plays...you split the pot...since you both made it through the whole season and achieved an equal amount of strikes...two.  If he loses with his team...that's his third strike...you win the whole enchilada.  Reminder:  If you have a team to play in any given week, you must play that team!!

I'm strapped for cash, can I get you the money after this whole thing is over?

Get me the money before the season starts (Wednesday, September 6th, by Midnight).  The first game is the very next day.  For a full schedule, click here.  Your timeliness is CRUCIAL on your pick!  Since the first game is the very next day, it's all the more important for you to get it in!  If you prefer to mail it, my address is 11127 Golden Valley Drive, Bakersfield CA 93311.  Or, I will let you know a designated spot to drop off your check or cash.  Once you give me your $$, I'll set you up a space in the players hub.  Without the $$, you're not in.

What if two or more people make it in to the Superbowl?  What if on the division win pot some guy has the same amount of division winning team selections and the same number of wins in the AFRL chess game?

In the event that there are two (or more) teams left for the superbowl game, , all have a team to play, and everyone with a play wins that week, the pot will be split between the individuals that "survive" and have an equal amount of strikes.

In the division win game, if two players are tied for the lead in the number of division champ pics + have the exact number of wins in the main game, they too will split the 20% of the total pot.

It's week seven.  Can I change my division champion selection picks?

Please submit your division champion selections BEFORE the season starts (Wednesday, September 6th, by Midnight)!  I would recommend sending your selections along with your week 1 selection pick and your default pick.  After the week 1 pick deadline, the division champ selections CANNOT be changed!

Explain to me your "Default Pick"...what the heck does that mean?

The default pick is a way for all players to avoid getting shafted from not having a team to play during any given week.  Life issues do come up, and we all realize that, so hopefully giving the webmaster permission to use a team of the player choice, should a pick not be emailed in time, help some people from not taking automatic losses.  The rules to a default pick are as follows:

1.  You can change your default pick at any time.  No Deadline.

2.  Once your default pick is used for a given week, you are no longer allowed to use that team, and you must submit to me a new default of the teams that you have left to play.

3.  If you email me a pick in a given week that is the same as your selected default team, YOU MUST submit to me a new default team along with your pick for the next week.  I won't pick a new default team for you!!

4.  The webmaster (that's me) reserves the right to use your default pick should you forget to email your weekly pick by the pre-designated deadline.  If you default pick has already been used, and you have not submitted a new one to replace the one used, the webmaster will put an automatic loss in your column and hub for that week.  Again...I won't pick a new default team for you!!.

5.  Each player MUST have a default team available at their disposal if they miss a week.  The player is not allowed to use the default pick as an outlet for their weekly selections.  The only time a player may have no default pick in their reserve is when the default is used for that specific week (i.e. it was used because the player failed to send in their pick)

Oops...I accidentally used a team that has a bye...now what?

Oops is right...sorry...that's a loss for you this week.  I cannot let you slide and use your default pick since the team you sent me is the team that you wanted to play that week.  If you give me a team to play...and that team has a bye...I will play it!  I won't assume anything...and I won't automatically exchange it for your default pick.  Make sure that you check the NFL Schedule link on this website...it will list every team that has a bye on each regular season week.  Remember though, if you have teams left come playoff time, and you have no selections for the first round of the playoffs, then you earn a rare freebee (see rationale on previous question above).  But during the regular season, you have to watch it closely.

I have another question that's not mentioned here, can you answer it for me?

But of course!  Email me.  If its a good question, I'll post it here so everyone knows about it.  Just so you know, I want to keep this simple.  So please don't over-complicate something that was meant to be simple to begin with.  Visit your player hub often, find out what teams you have left to play, talk smack with others, and most importantly, have fun with it!
