Dragonball Z Legends
Dragonball Z Legends was one of the three dbz games on playstation. I have all three and I think this one is the best. The fighting is not like Street Fighter fighting style. It has its own style. You have up to three people you control and you can fight with any one of your group. You can change who you are and who your characters are fighting. For example, you can have all three of your fighters against one of there's. That wouldn't be a great plan but you can still do that. The moves you can do are punch/kick, shoot little bullets, hit them to the side, up, or down, power-up(needed to gain energy so your fighter does not get tired), gain strength(this gives you more strength and speed but decreases your energy faster), block, ascend while spinning around your opponent with punches and kicks, descend while spinning around your opponent with punches and kicks, punch and kick them rapidly, or ask for help(have one of your teammates knock the opponent away from you). Your goal is to make the power balance bar all the way your color. To get this you need to hit your opponent as much as you can. Once the bar becomes all the way your color, the character uses a move on the opponent you are facing. That knocks off some of there power.
When you start out, there are two different modes, story mode and vs. mode. In story mode you go through 8 or so battles that go with the series. First Nappa and Vegeta, then the Ginyu Force, etc. As you defeat the battles you gain more characters for vs. mode. Once you beat the whole game in story mode, you gain a new mode where you fight in battles that aren't as important. For example, the first one is you being Gohan and you have to fight Piccolo just like when Piccolo was training Gohan in the Saiyan Saga. The vs. mode is where you face the computer player for fun or you face another human player. You gain characters for this mode from story mode. You can fight with up to 3 players in this mode and the teams can be uneven. This game is one of the best dbz games on playstation because of all the characters you can gain. You can even use Nappa!
Dragonball Z Ultimate Battle 22
Dragonball Z Ultimate Battle 22 was one of the three dbz games on playstation. I have all three and I think this one is my least favorite. It has the Street Fighter style of fighting. The only problem with this one is that you shoot fireballs instead of kamahameha like beams. But one good part of this game is you have 22 characters to choose from. And they all have there own moves. One example is that Captain Ginyu can use the body change attack. That's pretty sweet. Another good part of this game is that you can choose the option of having animations at the beginning of each battle. Even though they talk in japanese and I can't understand them it's pretty cool. Especially when you have two characters that play an important role in the series. For example, when you choose Gohan vs. Cell, they show Cell making Gohan mad to turn SSJ2.
There are 3 different playing modes. One of them is a 1 player mode. The second one is the 2 player mode. The last one is build-up battle. In this, you pick a character and fight battles with other characters to gain strength and hp for your character. The moves in this game are punch, kick, fly, shoot a fireball, and the special moves your character can do. I just don't like this one because you can only shoot fireballs and not kamehameha like beams, and it is the street fighter style of fighting.
Dragonball GT Final Bout
Dragonball GT Final Bout was one of the three dbz games on playstation. I have all three and I think this one is my favorites. It has the same moves as the series. There is only one problem with it. It moves pretty slow, but all the good things in this game cancel that out. It's got lots of characters, including secret characters. When you start, there are three modes. Story, VS., Tournament, and Build up. Story is a one player mode where you battle opponents until you get to the main guy, Baby Vegeta. In VS. mode, you can battle against your friends. In tournament mode, it is alot like the marial art tournaments in the series. You pick 8 characters to fight in the tournament, and it is held in one of two places. One is the tournaments arena (like the series), and the second is in a mountain-like place. All 8 players fight eachother in 1-on-1 matches until there is only one left. In Build up mode, you can choose a character that you want to build up. You build up your character by battling other fighters. The characters are Goku, Little Goku, Gohan, Pan, Super Vegeta, Buu, Cell, Piccolo, and Freeza. The secret characters are SSJ Goku, Super Goku, SSJ Trunks, Super Trunks, SSJ Little Goku, SSJ Vegetto, and SSJ4 Goku.
In Final Bout, they have the same moves as in the series. This includes Masenko, Kamehameha, Final Flash, and many others. They also look alot like the moves in the series. This game is also 3D, unlike the other ones. There are many moves for each player, which will keep you coming back to play!
