District of Columbia Alexandria, Virgina Largest Traders during this period. Shipped many slaves to New Orleans and the Natchez Markets. The company was sold late in 1836. The company used the "Uncas" and the "Tribune" and the "Isaac Franklin" for shipment. Four Manifests of shipment to New Orleans survived and are located at the Library of Congress. They were dated December 20, 1834, February 5 and 26, and March 26, 1835. These manifest revealed Franklin & Armfield shipped 396 out of a total of 646 slaves during this period. |
