Death of An Octogenarian

Joseph A. Robershotte died at the home of his son John Robershotte in San Ysidro, Friday morning. He was a native of Switzerland, age 82 years 6 months 18 days. He came to this state in 1878 from Australia, where he was a miner, and settled in Los Gatos. The past 8 years he has lived with his son in Old Gilroy, from whose home the funeral will take place at 2 pm on Sunday. 5 children of a family of 11 are left- namely, John Robershotte and Mrs. Kate Johnson of Gilroy, Mrs. Grimes of Burlingame, Mrs. Crosby of Washington, and Joe Robershotte of Arcata.

Mother of Mrs. Kate Johnson Passes On

Mrs. Matilda Robershotte, 94, mother of Mrs. Kate Johnson of Gilroy died in Burlingame last Friday...funeral 10:00 am this morning at Los Gatos in the Robershotte family plot. Several sons and daughters survive the pioneer lady with Mrs. Johnson being the oldest.

John Robershotte Dies Following Long Invalidism

Death came early this morning to John S. Robershotte, prominent rancher of the Pacheco Pass district, and funeral services have been arranged for Thursday afternoon. Rites will take place at the Gilroy Funeral Home at 2 pm with the Rev. H.I. Oberholtzer officiating.

Robershotte was a native of England and was 72 years old. he had lived on his ranch property on Pacheco Pass highway for 42 years. He was affiliated with the Elks Lodge and enjoyed his association with members whenever able to join them. For years an invalid...Surviving: wife, Elizabeth; children, Merle of Alameda, Alton of San Jose, Wm. of Gilroy, Mrs. Edna Zamzow of Gilroy, Mrs. Bertha Lindeleaf of Gilroy, Mrs. Alta Bauer, Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Kate Johnson of Gilroy, Mrs. Caldwell, of Woodland and sisters Nina Grimes of Los Gatos, Valley Crosby of Tacoma and Joseph Robershotte of San Jose. Mrs. Kate Winter Dies At Home

Mrs. Kate Johnson Winter resident of N. Rosanna St., died early this morning at her home. She had been ill for many months. Mrs. Johnson's (sic) funeral services are pending arrival of relatives and will take place from the Habing Funeral Chapel when arrangements are complete.

Services Thursday for Mrs. Winter, Gilroy Pioneer

Mrs. Kate John Winter, 83, died early yesterday after a lengthy illness, passing away at her home on N. Rosanna St. She had been a resident of Gilroy for 73 years, coming here with her parents from her native Australia.

Surviving her are husband Herman Winter and 10 children: Mrs. Bessie Bowen and Walton Johnson or Gilroy, Mrs. Mabel mcRay of Morgan Hill, mrs. Gertrude Pimentel and Mrs. Ada Burk of San Jose, Albert Johnson of Salinas, Mrs. Lois Arens of San Francisco, Mrs. My Tomison of Los Angeles, Joe Johnson of Grimes, Arthur Johnson of Corning.

Private services will be conducted from habing Funeral Chapel on Thursday at 2:00 pm, internment at IOOF.

Friends of the family are invited to call at the funeral chapel tonight and tomorrow up to time for the rites which will be attended by her 10 children and 15 grandchildren.

Mrs. Grimes Dies at 88; L.G. native

Mrs. Nina Victoria Grimes, 88 year old native of Los Gatos, died early yesterday morning in a San Jose hospital.

Mrs. Grimes was born in 1879, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Robershotte. She was the widow of Joseph Grimes, a Burlingame plumbing contractor, who retired in 1929, moved to Los Gatos in 1934, and died in 1952.

A resident at 1603 Blackford Lane, Mrs. Grimes is survived by two nephews, Alton N. Robershotte of San Jose, and Merle J. Robershotte of Gilroy, and four nices -- Mrs. Alta Bauer of Saratoga, Mrs. Edna Zamzow and mrs. Bertha Lindelea, both of Gilroy, and Mrs. Nina Caldwell of Woodland.

The Rev. F. Marshall Wickham of St. Francis Episcopal Church of Willow Glen will officiate at services at 11 am tomorrow at the Place Funeral Home, Los Gatos. Mrs. Grimes will be interred in Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto.

Contractor's Widow Left $350,605

Mrs. Nina Victoria Grimes, 88, of 1603 Blackford Lane, Los Gatos, left a net estate of $350,605 when she died her may 16, 1968. State Inheritance Tax Appraiser Marvin H. Sheppard reported in probate court Thursday.

Report showed a grand-niece, Nina K. Caldwell, of Woodland, will inherit $113,816; two grandnephews, David and Thomas Bauer, of 12380 Palmtag Ave., Saratoga, $56,908 each and three other grandnephews, Gerald, Robert and Donald Lindeleaf, of Monte Vista Way, Gilroy, $37,938 each.

Two friends, two nieces and a nephew, plus the St. Francis Episcopal Church and the Santa Clara County Crippled Children's Assn., each were bequeathed $1,000, report said.

Mrs. Grimes, a native of Los Gatos, was the widow of Joseph Grimes, a Burlingame plumbing contractor, who retired in 1929 and died in 1952.
