Emily and Samuel had three children:Joel (1836); Lilburn Calvin (1838); and Levi (1839). The following story came from a descendant Joyce Williams Leo. Emily and Samuel married in VA and then, according to family oral history, floated down the Holston River from the Sugar Grove, VA area to their homesite on what is now Fort Loudon Lake, Lenoir City, TN at the juncture of Telllico Lake. . When Levi was just 13 days old, the mother Emily died. She was the first to be buried in the Williams Cemetery which is still being used as a family cemetery and still owned by the Williams family. All of her children (with the exception of her second born, Lilburn Calvin, who is said to have been captured near Ravena, GA and taken to Andersonville prison where he presumably died, are buried in the Williams Cemetery. All of Emily's direct TN descendants are buried there also. My Great-grandfather Levi is there, his son Joel is there, and his grandson Murray is there. Joyce is the daughter of Murray WILLIAMS. Emily had a great adventure coming to Tennessee, but did not live long to see her children grow. Apparently, they were cared for by "black mammies" and the father Samuel didn't remarry until after all three sons were fully grown. Samuel surely died a heartbroken man when his second son did not return from the Civil War and when it became obvious that he would not return, the father died in 1868. LT Joe returned and took control of the family properties which numbered in the thousands of acres.
