Spencers vs Cassidine #14 May 28 - August 10, 1999 - 8 hour original edit #14A Felicia is horrified that Luke is writing all over the love letters. He says he is correcting the grammar. Felicia is mad at Luke because he "defiled" the letters. He makes like it's no big deal and Felicia is distraught, worrying about Lila's possible reaction. Luke finally tells her that these are copies that he has written on. He obviously loves to tease her. Felicia reads the letters aloud and gets swept away with the romance. She has a fantasy where she is Lila and Luke is Edward. Luke wouldn't be surprised if Edward had a bet with someone when he wrote those letters. He thinks Edward thought he could get Lila away from her fiancee. Felicia believes that the Edward they know today is not the same Edward who wrote the letters. Fifty years of board room backstabbing has changed him. Felicia has another Lila and Edward fantasy and again Luke is Edward and she is Lila. It's getting late so Felicia takes half the letters home and suggests they each read their halves and compare notes tomorrow. There is a knock at the door and Luke thinks Felicia has returned but Faison enters. At the hospital, Helena tells Laura that Lucky died because of Laura's selfishness. When she sees that she is getting to Laura, she continues to say mean hurtful things about Laura and her family. Laura snaps and starts to strangle Helena. Stefan separates them. Laura struggles to get at Helena again. After she calms down a bit, she tells Helena that the biggest mistake of her life was not killing her when she had chances on the island. Stavros would have thanked her. She tells Helena that Stavros said she was half-woman, half-wolf. Laura will never forget what Helena did to Lesley and she lives in fear of what she will do to her family next. Helena continues to taunt her and Stefan tells Helena to leave. Laura is on the verge of collapse and cries, "Where is Lulu? Where is Nikolas? Oh my god, where is Lucky?" She keeps repeating Lucky's name. Once Stefan has calmed her down, Laura says that Helena was right, she is not a good mother. She reminds Stefan that even he said so. He recalls that he said it a long time ago. She thinks she could have saved Lucky. She breaks down sobbing "my baby is gone, my baby is gone." Stefan tries to comfort her. A nurse suggests that she get a doctor. Later in a hospital room, Laura appears to be sedated. She is worried about Lulu. Stefan tells her that Lesley is with Lulu and that he will stay at the hospital with her. Stefan attempted to hide the details of Laura's breakdown from Lesley. Lesley insisted that Stefan tell her the truth and he explained about Laura's encounter with Helena. Lesley thought Laura would be better off with out Stefan in her life. Later, Laura told Lesley how Stefan had saved her life on the train tracks and Lesley began to see Stefan in a new light. Stefan ordered Nikolas not to tell Luke about Laura's condition. Nikolas went ahead and told Luke that Laura was in the hospital. A concerned Luke went to see Laura, but left without saying a word when he saw Stefan tending to her. A wary Luke met with "Krieg" and considered his offer to become partners. Faison is on the phone with someone and asks how Lucky is doing. He pulls out a file. The name on it: Malcolm Scorpio, another one has Robin Scorpio, the next one says Felicia Scorpio. He opens it, looks at a picture of Mac, Felicia and Maxie and runs his finger over the image of Felicia. He opens Mac's file. There's a photo of Mac, a description of his personality, and newspaper articles. Helena arrives. She has diamonds. They agree that those will keep Luke occupied for as long as they need. Luke comes into his office and is surprised to find Felicia there. She is reading his half of the love letters. When she has finished, she announces that she has determined that the love letters are nothing more than just love letters. Luke disagrees. He has her read one line that he thinks is a hint, "as for the rest, it will take care of itself." Luke thinks maybe the secret is not Edward's, but Lila's. Felicia refuses to believe anything bad about Lila. Luke thinks she should keep an open mind. Luke finds a three week gap in the letters and is suspicious. Felicia tries to come up with excuses why this happened. After Felicia has left, Liz drops by to let Luke know that Laura is feeling better. He asks if Liz has talked with Laura. She explains that Lesley told Nik about Laura and she was there with Nik. Liz asks how Luke is doing. She tells him she is there if he needs anything. She hugs him and he is very touched. Laura is in her hospital room, she looks absolutely terrible. She is on the phone with Lulu, trying to be cheerful. Bobbie comes in, telling Laura that no matter what, they'll always be family. Sonny comes in, Bobbie leaves. Laura wants to know who told Sonny she was there, he says Luke. He tells Laura he thinks he can help her; he sort of knows what she's going thru. Tells her that she has to allow herself to feel the pain; Laura says she doesn't think she can live thru that. He advises her to let someone help if she can, something he couldn't do. They hold hands and she thanks him for coming. He leaves. She is pretty weepy by now. Nik comes in and gives Laura a picture that Lulu drew for her. It is a family picture of Luke, Laura, Nik, Lucky and Lulu. Laura starts crying, saying her baby needs her family. Laura cries that she keeps failing her children. Nik says it's not true, she loves them and love is everything, the best. He tells her to be proud of herself, and of course she cries harder. He tells her that Liz sees a grief counselor and suggests that Laura see one too. Laura promises to think about it. Felicia and Luke are at Luke's talking about the letters. Felicia has another fantasy sequence. They decide that the missing letters are probably hidden at the Oyster Bay house that Edward mentioned in the letters. They make a date to go there tomorrow in Luke's pink caddy. Felicia asks Luke to speculate about the Q secret; he says it's probably an illegitimate child from Lila and her first fiance, who died in the war. They wonder who it could be, someone in PC perhaps? Felicia says, "Maybe it's you Luke! Lila is very fond of you after all." Luke tells Felicia that "Lila's attraction to me is strictly sexual." Luke asks if Bubba (Mac) cares that she's time with "the infamous me"? Felicia claims he's behind her 100 percent. Jason goes to Luke's with paper work. Hannah immediately waits on him, telling him she thinks she'll surprise Sonny with dinner at the penthouse. Jason tells her not tonight. Luke overhears and looks menacing. He comes over to Jason and tells him it's okay to use the club as a cover, but he wants to know whether Sonny is taking care of the Moreno problem tonight. Luke says he is tired of being "a spud standing in the middle of the street with his pants down" in the middle of a turf war. Luke notices that Jason has a stack of paperwork and tells Jason that it is a poor excuse for an alibi. He wants to know what is going on. Jason says that Sonny is just taking precautions. Sonny wouldn't tell him, but that is his guess. Luke refuses to believe that Jason doesn't really know. Sonny might not have told him directly, but Jason knows. Jason admits that Sonny is taking back his territory from Moreno. Luke's only comment is "at last". At Luke's, Luke tells Jason that he knew it would happen. He isn't surprised that Sonny didn't trust him with the details. Jason says that that is how Sonny operates. As they continue to talk, Hannah walks up to the table and asks Luke if she can leave. When Luke tells her it's okay to go, she asks Jason if he is sure that Sonny is busy. Jason assures her that Sonny is busy and she leaves saying that she can always leave him a message. After Hannah is gone, Luke tells Jason that the first thing the police are going to ask him is if he didn't know what was going on, why did he spend the evening at Luke's doing paperwork. Luke asks Jason if Sonny will be successful without Jason's help. Jason says that he isn't sure. He wanted to help, but Sonny wouldn't let him. Luke tells Jason that the problem is that Sonny and Jason are too close. Jason is trying to tail Sonny and Sonny is trying to keep Jason away so he looks respectable. Jason says that Sonny is his best friend and he doesn't want him to die if there is a way to stop it. Luke tells Jason that he may have to face the fact that he can't stop it. Jason's kind of blind loyalty can be suicide. As Laura lies in her hospital bed looking at the picture Lulu drew, Bobbie arrives for a visit. She brought Laura some dessert from the PC Grille. Laura is touched by Bobbie's thoughtfulness. Laura tells Bobbie that she started writing a letter to Lulu to try and explain what has happened. But she couldn't do it. Then she started writing down things she remembers about Lucky. Things he said when he was a little boy. Things he did. That is when she realized that that is what she can do now. She can help Lulu remember Lucky. Laura says that she feels like she has to. She doesn't want Lulu to be afraid to mention Lucky's name. Bobbie says that that is a lovely way to think about it. When BJ died, Lucas was afraid to talk about her and Bobbie unknowingly encouraged his silence where BJ was concerned. One day she discovered that Lucas had been hiding things of BJ's under his bed. She felt like she made Lucas feel like he had to sweep BJ under the bed. Losing a child is like no other pain on earth. BJ and Lucky both had amazing lives and Lulu is helping Laura see that just the way Lucas helped her. Laura tells Bobbie that Nikolas has helped her too. Poor Nikolas. He is half hers which means that he feels everything and half Cassadine which means he knows how to hide it. Laura is alone in her hospital room when Stefan stops by for a visit. She is very happy to see him and thanks Stefan profusely for all that he has done for her. Stefan says that he has felt helpless since the night he found her huddled up in a ball on Lucky's floor. Laura apologizes for making Stefan feel that way, but Stefan assures her that she does not need to apologize for her feelings. Her tragedy is impossible to share. There is no excepted etiquette for what she has been asked to bear. Laura tells Stefan that she is considering grief counseling. She needs to find a better way to deal with her pain. She needs to get better for Lulu. Stefan tells Laura not to be discouraged. She will be discharged soon. Laura agrees, but is reluctant to go back to her house where there are so many memories. Stefan asks Laura to not go back, to come with him instead. Stefan tells Laura that she needs quiet. She needs peace. She needs time to spend with her daughter and time alone to give her grief it's due. She needs retreat. Happily, he is in a position to provide one. Stefan explains to Laura that he has a house in the country, just twenty minutes from Port Charles. He offers to let her stay there with Lulu and Lesley. Stefan is delighted when Laura gratefully accepts. At Luke's, Bobbie asks Luke if the "back room" is open. When Luke plays dumb, Bobbie laughs and explains that Jerry and Simon would like to play a few hands. Luke says that Simon looks like he could stand to lose some money. Bobbie laughs and says that Simon is harmless, if not a little deranged. Luke says that deranged is ok with him. Luke walks over to Jerry and Simon’s table and sends the men off saying that Jerry will explain the house rules. He also offers the warning that his dealer might be armed. Once Bobbie, Simon and Jerry are gone, Luke asks Jason to watch the club for him. He needs to get away. A musical montage, Luke quietly enters Laura's hospital room and almost starts to cry when he sees her lying there looking so vulnerable. Laura awakens suddenly and is shocked to see Luke standing in her room. Their eyes meet and they stare at each other in silent, shared grief. Luke drops in on Laura at the hospital. They have an emotional scene sharing stories of “seeing” Lucky, and their grief. Laura obsesses that she’s let everyone down, and Luke tells her it’s all going to be all right. He also suggests she get out of town for a bit, and she tells him she already has plans with Stefan. Luke doesn’t really want to hear about it. Luke and Laura talk some more, and have a good cry together. Finally Luke starts to leave, kisses her, and they both really sound anguished as they cry and slowly he leaves. Luke and Felicia snoop around the Quartermaine's Oyster Bay house and are surprised by the caretaker and have to talk their way out. Back at Luke's office, Felicia tells him she wants to go back to the Q mansion in Oyster Bay to get those letters. Luke doesn't want to go back. Maybe the caretaker even shredded the letters. Felicia trusts that the letters are still there after over 50 years. She has done some snooping and called real estate agents in Oyster Bay. She expressed an interest in the Q property. They told her about the faithful caretaker. Her biggest fear now is that he will tell the Q's about her intruding and Lila will stop her from writing her memoirs. She hopes Lila won't think she betrayed her. Felicia talks about Lila's last night with Edward before he went to war. She has another fantasy. Again, Luke is Edward to her Lila. They are dancing. Luke asks Felicia what she will do if the caretaker tells Lila about them being in Oyster Bay. She wants to tell Lila the truth. In his back office, Luke examines a diamond that Herr Krieg (Faison) has brought for him. Herr Krieg needs Luke's expertise and experience to import the rest of his diamonds. Krieg insists he needs an immediate answer, but Luke, after having explained that he will not be pushed, tells him, "I'm not your man." Krieg tells Luke, then, that he will be patient, and gives Luke thediamond. Just as Faison exits one door of the office, Laura comes through the other. The conversation starts off in their trying-so-hard-to-be-nice voices, but after Laura presents him with the number of Stefan's country house where Luke can reach her, Luke turns gruff. Laura cries, "I thought I was doing the right thing! I didn't come here to fight! Please call, Luke." He sourly crumples the number as she leaves. Lesley enters and she begs him to take care of Laura in place of Stefan. Lesley thinks that through comforting each other over Lucky's death, they will find their way back to each other. Luke stoicly tells her, "We ran hot, but we burned out. It's over. We can only do more damage to each other. Don't push us back to where we were." Lesley shuffles out as Felicia bops in. Lila cancelled their meeting for the first time, she bubbles nervously. They end up returning to Oyster Bay. Stefan meets Nicolas in the park to berate him for putting his job ahead of his family. He asks Nik to go to the country house with Laura, Lulu, Lesley, and him. Nik offers visit every day. After presenting a number of unconvincing counter arguments, Stefan sternly tells Nik, "I will tell her to expect a visit from you tomorrow." Stefan ends up at his country house, where Laura is sitting dully in the garden. They discuss the lilacs. "You've been so good to me." "That's what I want to be." Laura begins her new job at GH, where Stefan is there to give her moral support. She tells him she can't imagine her life without him. Later, she has her first case, a young runaway named Tripper, who reminds her of Lucky. She holds it together until he leaves, then bursts into tears, telling Stephan that she can't help anyone else, when she can't evan help herself. Felicia and Luke decipher enough of the letter to determine that Edward warned Lila not to spend too much time and the cemetery, and then decide to go there. At the cemetery, they find a crypt for the Quartermaines, and a stone nearby that says Baby Jennings 1942. Felicia is convinced that it was Lila’s baby, and placed there so no one would question her grief since it was near the crypt. She promptly tells Luke the crusade is over, she doesn’t want to hurt Lila. Luke talks to Felicia about his grief and Lulu’s confusion about where Lucky is. It was a real tearjerker about grief and losing children. Laura is picking flowers when Liz and Nikolas come to visit. They all have family bonding with Lesley Lu, then Nik and Liz go home. Laura arrives at GH and approaches Amy at the hospital desk. They chat about Laura's recovery and the crazy servants at Stefan's country house. Amy runs off as Scott Baldwin enters. "It's been a while..." "Scotty makes excuses about not having previously consoled Laura over Lucky’s death. They discuss Scotty's engagement to Lucy, "You know, sometimes you think you're never gonna do that again, and then you end up doing it again." Their conversation turns to the meaning of family. Laura admits, "You deserve much better than what I gave you." Gail interrupts to tell Laura she's free to see her now. Later that day, Laura is back at Stefan's country house. Laura starts to garden with her mother, gets all emotional when she recalls the sound of dirt hitting Lucky's coffin and how Lucky helped her garden when he was little. Laura dries her eyes, and childishly asks Lesley, "But Gail says I'm doing much better. Do you think so?" Laura admits, "I do want to start over, like Scotty, like Luke has." Luke enters Kelly’s and chats with Tammy briefly. Lucy enters, sees Luke, hugs him, "I'm sorry. It's inexcusable I wasn't at the service. If there's any way I could've been there..." ( Lucy is on PC at this time). They sit down as Lucy continues to make excuses for why she hasn't yet consoled Luke for losing Lucky. She tells Luke she's engaged to Scotty. Luke moans, "Oh, say it ain't so! Oh, Luce..." Their conversation turns to Luke's "more than a separation" from Laura. Lucy continues consoling Luke now about Laura. She reminisces about losing Kevin. Alan had entered Kelly’s and stopped by to say hi, then Tony enters and Lucy wonders to Luke what it means that she has just run into two of her ex-husbands. Felicia now enters and plops herself down at Luke and Lucy's table, and then all three chatter away happily about nothing in particular. Luke leaves them, and sighs sadly outside of Kelly's. At the nurses' station, Bobbie asks Luke to attend the Nurses' Ball. She thinks it's time for him to socialize a little. He insists that being out in a crowd where there's music and fun won't make him snap out of it. He can't go to the Nurses' Ball without thinking of Lucky, but hopes Bobbie will go and have fun. Laura is still doing gardening at the country home. Stefan returns from his ride looking mighty fine in his riding pants. Laura tells him that being in the garden here makes her think of her garden at home. She hopes she will be ready to return to work soon. Stefan urges her to take her time and not jeopardize her recovery. Laura wants to go to the Nurses' Ball even though she knows it may be stressful. Stefan thinks she's been acting like people think she should act instead of doing what she wants. She thinks for a moment, then agrees. He doesn't think attending the Nurses' Ball would be wise, but Laura insists she will not crumble. Later, as Lulu is helping Laura arrange some flowers, she says her favorite color is purple. Laura becomes very sad. She tells Lulu about the purple suit that Lucky wore to a Nurses' Ball. Stefan watches from afar as Lulu climbs up on Laura's lap and they tell each other "I love you." Laura enters GH and greets Bobbie. They discuss Laura's recovery at the country house. Laura goes off to her appointment with Gail. Tony catches Laura after her appointment ended early. They sit down to talk. Tony brings up BJ's death and recalls Laura's sympathy gestures. "You made a difference because you reached out with your heart. If I can do that for you, I'd be so honored." Laura and Tony share their grief together for a bit. Luke joins Felicia for lunch outside of Kelly's. He shows her the birth certificate of Baby Jennings, which proves that the baby is not Lila and Edward's but Jennings, Sr. and Lucinda's. This baby girl died of bad lungs. Luke proposes their next move, but Felicia refuses because she's through with breaking Lila's trust. Luke resolves to continue, but Felicia tells him, "If I bail, you have to bail, too." Though she wants to know the secret, she'll not hurt Lila any further. Luke starts explaining that if he's working alone without Felicia's sensitivities to guide his behavior, he'll likely reveal the secret. Felicia relents and agrees to continue digging with him. Laura returns to work at the hospital. Stefan worries about her, but Laura says she must do this for herself. Stefan hopes she won't move out of the country house soon. Gail wants Laura to see her patient, a 16-year-old girl, named Mandy, who swallowed half a bottle of pills. However, Gail is concerned how Laura is doing on her first day back. Laura says she's taking it a moment at a time. Gail wonders if she should sit it on Laura's session with Mandy. Laura thinks a teenage girl would be more comfortable talking to just one person at a time. Mandy and Laura open up to each other. Mandy did not want to kill herself. She just wanted the pain she was feeling from her father's death to go away. Laura tells her about Lucky. When Gail tells Stefan about Laura being with Mandy, Stefan becomes angry. He tells Gail she used poor judgment, suggests she's incompetent and threatens that she'll never practice in GH again if anything detrimental happens to Laura. Gail is astonished at his harsh words. As soon as Stefan walks away, Laura and Mandy come along and thank Gail for the referral. When Gail leaves with Mandy, Stefan tells Laura that Gail is unprofessional. Laura says this is the first time in a long time that she has felt good about herself. Faison visits Luke's office. He wants to know how soon he can have the diamonds. Luke says maybe September. He makes sure Faison understands he doesn't trust him at all. Felicia arrives after Faison has gone. She has a box of Lila and Edward's memorabilia with her. She tells Luke that Lila has asked her to continue writing the memoirs even though she told her that she broke into the Oyster Bay house. Luke can't believe she decided to tell the truth but he really can't believe that Felicia doesn't look happy about the outcome. Felicia is sad to explain, she told the truth, but Lila didn't. As they look through the box, they find a photo of Lila with two men who both look like Edward. It is marked Lila, Edward and Elliot. After Felicia has left to meet with Mac, Luke goes through more letters. He sees they are all signed "Edward." The one they rescued from the fire just says "E". Helena has one of her employees spying on Laura at the hospital and later corners Laura in her office. Helena attempts to cause another breakdown of Laura by pointing out the type of mother she is. Helena reminds Laura of how she abandoned Nikolas and left Lucky to fend for himself on the streets, where he later died. After suggesting Lulu would be better off if she were taken from Laura, Laura calls security. At the nurse's station, Stefan inquires as to Laura's whereabouts and is told she is in her office with a visitor. Stefan hurries to Laura's office and finds Laura kneeling over Helena's motionless body. Luke and Felicia continue to put their creative talents together to figure out the Q's secret. Felicia can't get over the uncanny resemblance between Edward and Elliott. Luke shows Felicia the letters signed "Edward" and the remains of the burned letter signed "E". Luke asks Felicia when Edward joined the Navy and she tells him it was in the fall of 1942. In that case, Luke wonders, how could Lila have received a letter from Edward postmarked spring of 1942 from a military base. Felicia and Luke discuss the discrepancies in the postmarks between the burned letter and the other letters. They also notice that they are from bases belonging to two different branches of the military. Then Luke notices that the handwriting is the same on all of the letters, which means that they were all written by Edward. Felicia reviews that Lila had an arranged engagement to Elliott, but then fell in love with Edward. Maybe Edward visited Elliott at the Army base before joining the Navy? Felicia notices that all of Edward's photos are him in his Navy uniform, and Luke explains that a uniform in those days opened many doors. Felicia then finds one photo of Edward and Elliot together, with Edward in civilian clothes. Could they have been friends? Felicia is upset that Lila is hiding something, but what could it possibly be? Luke suggests another trip to Oyster Bay. As we see Laura kneeling over Helena, Stefan tells her to leave, but Bobbie walks in and calls for a doctor. Laura tells them that Helena's eyes rolled back and she fell, hitting her head on the corner of the desk, with the lamp falling after her. She assures Stephan that she didn't do anything! Bobbie finds Laura and Stefan in the hall. She tells them that Helena's condition is still unknown. Mac shows up at Stefan's request, so that he could have the true story before the press twists things. Laura tells Mac her story, about how they were fighting, but that suddenly Helena passed out hitting her head on the way down. Mac tells her not to worry, yet. Bobbie shows up with the news that Helena is stable, but there is no diagnosis yet. It may be a recurrence of some illness she had years ago, based on info Stephan supplied. Mac asks about toxicology reports, but Bobbie tells them that while there is no overt evidence, the reports aren't in yet. It will be a wait and see prognosis, though. Stefan asks Mac to take Laura home, stating that he wants to see his mother. Helena, according to Tony, had some kind of stroke. Stefan and Laura were in her hospital room discussing about how little they cared for her recovery, when Helena's eyes popped open! Helena couldn't move or speak, only her beady eyes were fixed directly ahead of her. Stefan continued to make arrangements such as regaining control of the Cassadine fortune in front of her, in case she could hear what was going on. Later, he told Tony that he wouldn't put her in a home that he would take care of her himself. DVD #14B Felicia and Luke are in a diner in Oyster Bay trying to think of a cover. Felicia hates to lie. They are meeting Ida Walsh. When Ida joins them, she doesn't understand what they need from her. Felicia tells her she is writing Lila's memoirs. Ida worked for the Morgans. She tells Luke and Felicia that although Edward and Elliot looked alike, their voices were so different. Edward had a deep voice and Elliot's voice was high. She says Edward and his father were very close. Edward's father died suddenly. Felicia and Luke both look curious. Ida tells them that Edward's father, George Quartermaine, was very conservative. He avoided scandal. He didn't approve of Lila and Edward because Lila was engaged to Elliot. He threatened to disinherit Edward. She remembers Edward saying "to hell with the money." Luke begins to choke on his drink at the thought of this. George and Edward never made amends. George died the next day from a heart attack. Right afterwards, Edward left on a trip. Luke and Felicia ask Ida if anyone made a connection between the argument and the heart attack. When Ida leaves, Luke doesn't believe the whole story, but Felicia does. He wants to go to city hall to look at records. Later, they return to the diner, with no evidence. Luke is convinced that Edward murdered his father, but Felicia protests. Luke would like to have the body exhumed. Felicia reminds him that family consent is needed. They know that George is in a crypt. Luke tells her that with or without her, he's visiting George. Stefan was informed that Helena's condition hadn't changed. Later Stefan revealed to a lifeless Helena that he had poisoned her and also had the antidote to cure her. Luke and Felicia broke into George Quartermaine's crypt and they found an extra body in the grave with Edward's father. Luke insisted upon having the skulls analyzed. Luke suggested to Felicia that the second skull might belong to someone who was placed in the crypt after being murdered. Faison is at GH, asking to see Helena. He is told she isn't there. Laura is talking to Stefan at GH. He says that he has to be at Wyndemere for his mother. She misses him at the country house. Helena is being wheeled out. If looks could kill, Laura would be dead now. Stefan takes his mother out. Later at Wyndemere, Helena is glaring at her son. Stefan tells her that he is above murder, that she has nothing to fear. But if she does anything to Laura. Stefan tellw Nik that things won't change around the house, now that Helena is there. He is puzzled why Stefan is caring for Helena? Nik thinks Stefan should send her back to Greece. Laura tells Bobbie that her life is her own, and she shouldn't have to explain about her living circumstances. Bobbie just wants to warn her about living with Stefan. Laura says that she doesn't' plan on living there. Bobbie wishes her the best. Juan is talking to Laura. She hopes that he would stay away from Sonny. Juan says that Sonny is the best thing that could happen to him. Tony tells Laura that it was worth a shot to try to get him to participate in the youth outreach program. Stefan looks at his mother. He sits close. She glares. "This must be difficult for you. Knowing it was I who reduced you to a living corpse. He taunts her that she can't talk. He says that he can't hear her, and neither will anyone else, until he decides. He shows her the antidote for her "unfortunate condition". He holds it close to her lips and taunts, "Would you like some? Of course you would. But not yet. You have a task ahead of you. You need to contemplate your life. You need to see clearly the horror for who you are and what you have done. Do that, and perhaps...." he shows her the antidote. "Perhaps not.", and Stefan pours the antidote out onto the carpet. It almost look like tears in her eyes. At Luke's, Faison comes by to give Luke a prepayment for diamond smuggling and asks for some specifics of Luke's plan. All Luke will say is that he'll do it by boat. Faison looks frustrated, gives Luke his European phone number, and sulks out. Luke puts the number in the envelope with the cash and puts it in the safe and takes the two skulls out. Felicia enters and moans about what they're doing. There's a knock at the door. Felicia hides under the desk with the two skulls. It's Mac, who asks for Luke's help regarding an international diamond fence called "The Gardener" and he wonders if Sonny has anything to do with it. Luke plays dumb but seems interested when Mac says he thinks the fence is a really bad dude. Stefan arrives to taunt Alexis about her sudden marriage and to warn her against going after the Cassadine empire. Alexis tells him she's through with all things Cassadine, and wonders about the convenience of Helena's illness. Stefan glowers and tells her she'll be dealt with if she tries anything against the family. Jax walks in and says, "That's no way to talk to my wife." They snarl at each other through fake smiles, then Stefan leaves, saying, "You've been warned." Felicia comes out, whining about keeping secrets from Mac, only to jump back under the desk, with skulls, when there's another knock. It's Tony. Felicia comes out of hiding and explains that they got the skulls from a crypt and need to know how they died. Can Tony please help and ask no questions? Tony takes the skulls and agrees to get the forensic info. Felicia complains about what they're doing and Luke vows that he won't tell anyone what they find out, and that he won't let any harm ever come to her. Kat goes to see Helena at Wyndemere. She boots the nurse out of the room and says lovingly, "How did it come to this, dear Helena?" She tells Helena that she is impressed that Stefan is doing this for her, that she expected him to ship her off to a nursing home. Stefan enters, saying he's glad his mother has a friend to visit. He says he is doing what he must. He says, "Helena can comprehend everything but is powerless to do anything." At Luke's, Faison comes by to give Luke a prepayment for diamond smuggling and asks for some specifics of Luke's plan. It's Mac, who asks for Luke's help regarding an international diamond fence called "The Gardener", he wonders if Sonny has anything to do with it. Luke plays dumb but seems interested when Mac says he thinks the fence is a really bad dude. Felicia comes out, whining about keeping secrets from Mac, only to jump back under the desk with skulls, when there's another knock. It's Tony. Felicia comes out of hiding and explains that they got the skulls from a crypt and need to know how they died. Can Tony please help and ask no questions? Tony takes the skulls and agrees to get the forensic info. Felicia whines about what they're doing and Luke vows that he won't tell anyone what they find out, and that he won't let any harm ever come to her. Tony is at Luke's office. He is looking over the skulls. He says that one is of a man in his 60‘s while the other skull is from a much younger man, in his 20’s. There seems to be an indentation, possibly from a fall on a sharp rock, but more than likely it was not an accident and more like a hammer blow. Tony asks Felicia why she couldn't have found something less ghoulish. Luke and Felicia are trying to open back up George Q's crypt. She freaks out, but then they get it going together again. Felicia says a short little prayer for the souls of the bodies in George's crypt. As they are getting ready to leave, the door to the mausoleum slams shut. In his underground lair, Faison tells someone that he arranged for Interpol to capture his voice on tape and he expresses hope that Mac is extraordinarily uncomfortable. In the crypt, Luke and Felicia discover that they are trapped. Luke's cell phone has run out of battery power. To worsen the situation, Felicia reveals that she only told her husband that she and Luke went to Oyster Bay, not that they planned to visit the cemetery. Luke takes advantage of the opportunity to unveil his theory that Edward killed Elliott. Stefan gloats over catatonic Helena. Laura thinks he is being nice to her. Laura goes back to the hospital and Faison comes to see her. He tells her a story about his "nephew" and makes a large donation. Outside Kelly's, Laura tells Tony that the Outreach program just received a huge contribution. She says the donor made her skin crawl. Mr. Gardner didn't seem to show any sadness about his nephew. Tony reminds her that everyone deals with grief in their own way. Laura tries to explain about the queasy feeling she got from Mr. G. He was so cold. Tony urges her to take the check and just be happy for all the good that will result from the contribution. As Laura tells him how wonderful he's been and how she wishes everyone would give him a second chance, Bobbie comes along and overhears. Tony has to go to the hospital. Laura tells Bobbie how Luke has distanced himself from her because of her relationship with Stefan. She is concerned because he has also distanced himself from Lulu. Faison visits Helena. He reminds her that he can slip in and out of Wyndemere easily because he used to live there. He will keep her informed of any new developments. He slips out when the nurse enters. The nurse finally leaves and Faison reenters. He tells Helena there is a complication, that Luke is missing. Faison says he'll improvise, kisses Helena and leaves. Felicia is getting more nervous about being trapped in the crypt. She and Luke talk about special things in life. Felicia has thoughts about the romance of Lila and Edward, but Luke still thinks Edward killed Elliot and put him in the crypt. Felicia has one of her fantasies where she is Lila and Luke is Edward going off to war. She becomes very sad. Luke goes to her and touches her face tenderly. He asks, "are you okay?" She snaps out of it. He apologizes for not being optimistic. He says he's the world's biggest cynic. Luke wants to know about Felicia's fantasy. How did she picture young Edward? She reveals that she thought of someone else as Edward. Bubba? he assumes. She answers no. A movie star maybe? No again. She finally admits it's him. At first, he is flattered. Then, he is insulted. Felicia thinks of him as being as demonic as Edward? She says Edward just has "an edge" and thinks Edward and Luke have a lot in common. She lists all the ways they are alike. The last one is, they both can't accept defeat. Luke says neither can she. She gets a gleam in her eye and says that's why they'll get out of there alive. Mac tells Taggert that he has faxed Felicia's and Luke's pictures to the Oyster Bay police. Taggert isn't worried, Felicia is no fool and she has Luke with her. Luke and Felicia remained trapped in the Quatermaine crypt in Oyster Bay. Mac asked Edward and Lila for any information that may help him find Felicia. After Mac left, Edward assured Lila he had nothing to do with the disappearance of Luke and Felicia. Later Tony told Mac about the skulls he had examined. Over a romantic dinner, Laura told Stefan she was leaving the country house. Stefan invited her to stay permanently. She said she was leaving the house but not him. Felicia wakes up in Luke's arms and tells him about a wonderful dream she had. She feels bad because Mac wasn't the man in her dream. She tearfully asks what if it is her last dream? As she starts to cry harder, Luke takes her into his arms for a comforting hug. Felicia tearfully thanks Luke for not trying to force her to see the silver lining. Luke agrees that their chances of getting out of the crypt are getting slimmer. He tells her that if this is it for him, he should be thanking her. She coaxed him onto the life raft when he was drowning. She saved his life. Felicia tells Luke that she knew how he felt when Lucky died because of almost losing Maxie. Luke says that so many people tried to help, but she came and got him and held on to him. If her face is the last one he ever sees, he could have done worse. As they continue to comfort one another, the door of the crypt starts to creak. Mac walks in carrying a flashlight asking if anyone is home. Felicia runs over to Mac and gives him a big hug. Luke offers a little smile and a wave. Felicia apologizes for not telling Mac everything in the first place. Felicia leaves with the other rescue worker leaving Mac and Luke alone. Mac is clearly not pleased with Luke. Mac is furious with Luke for putting Felicia in danger. He can't believe that he actually encouraged Felicia to help Luke with his grief over Lucky. Luke turned her into a grave robber. Then he almost satisfied his own death wish. Mac angrily tells Luke that he doesn't get to play with Felicia anymore. She is off limits to him. Felicia walks up and asks if everything is ok. Mac says that he was just debriefing Luke. Luke concurs and then walks away. Mac and Felicia follow him out of the crypt. Luke is on the docks skipping rocks in the water, when Felicia finds him. Luke is happy, but surprised to see her. She gleefully tells him that Mac came through on a little research for her. She thinks that she might be able to identify the other body in the Quartemaine crypt. Luke tells Felicia that the future of the investigation is in her hands. In response, Felicia hands Luke Elliott's passport. Luke explains his theory about the Quartermaine past to his partner in crime: Edward killed George when he threatened to disinherit him and then eliminated his competition, Elliott. Edward then returned to a grieving Lila for one night of passion before joining the Navy. Felicia is reluctant to buy into Luke's theory because she does not view Edward and Lila as capable of murder. Felicia and Luke depart after arranging to make another trip to Oyster Bay, as Faison watches from the shadows. Stefan meets up with Laura and tells her how Katherine conned him into a disagreement and had Nikolas walk in on it. Laura is going to go see Katherine and settle this once and for all. Laura deteremines to go find Katherine and convince her to stay away from Nikolas. Stefan tells her not to, that it will only make things worse. She says that there has to be some way to get that women out of their son’s life. Tony is telling Laura about Juan. He is having a hard time, he wants to help him, saying he thinks that Juan is a good smart kid, that sees Sonny as a good role model. He ask Laura isn't it suppose to be the parents' job to teach and protect their kids. She gets upset, Tony realizes that she is thinking about Lucky. Laura tells Bobbie that Tony thought Juan would be a good candidate for the outreach program and she was hoping to help him. Bobbie tells Laura that Luke is no longer missing and was surprised when Laura says she never knew he was even missing. After Bobbie tells her what had happened she makes the comment that Luke will never change. Luke and Felicia return to the crypt to uncover the truth. Luke tells Felicia about his "fire poker" theory, on how Eliot died. Felicia dreams about Edward arguing with Eliot. Luke finds the fire poker in the crypt just as he suspected, figuring this is the weapon that Edward used to kill Elliot. Felicia wants to confront Edward stating he needs to pay for his crimes. Felicia imagines how Edward had committed the crime. Laura tells Stefan that she had it out with Katharine. Stefan tells Laura not to provoke her because it makes Katharine the victim in Nik's eyes. He feels sorry that he enmeshed Katharine in their lives when he shot her. Laura asks if the shooting was as Luke described it and Stefan admits to it. He goes on and on about how Katharine needed him and she became a refracted image of falling in love with Laura. He then tells Laura that she is the warden and he is her prisoner and he leans in close and says, "Don't think I don't see the poetic justice in that." Luke and Felicia head over to Edward's to confront him. She comments on his new shaved 'do. Edward thinks they've come for money to fund the memoirs. They tell him this is about Elliot Thompson the man you murdered. She shows him photos and tell him they have a letter. They tell him their theory of what happened complete with the black and white acting. They show him the poker and he looks stricken. He admits he killed Elliot but wants Lila left out of the whole thing. He can't believe they'd go to the police after all these years. Lila comes in and says it's time they knew the whole story. Faison is on the phone ordering two dozen white roses to be delivered to the usual place for Anna Devane. At the Quartermaine mansion, Lila will not let Edward take the blame for Elliott's murder. Lila then confesses that it was she who killed Edward's lookalike. Edward repeatedly interrupts and attempts to make light of the situation, asserting that a sixty year old secret needn't be disturbed now. At Luke's insistence, Edward describes the events that preceded the murder. Evidently, Edward's father was understanding and supportive of the burgeoning romance between his son and Lila. Lila eventually takes over, describing the exact circumstances of the murder. The night that she killed Elliott, she had made a trip to the Quartermaine home at Oyster Bay. Unbeknownst to her, Elliott had followed her to her lover's property and was more than dismayed to discover his fiancée waiting for the love of another man. When he confronted her and tried to force himself on her, Lila killed him with the fireplace tool. Later, when Edward arrived, he would not permit his love to call the police because self-defense was not a credible defense in those days. The remaining pieces of the fireplace set were then given to Jennings Sr. and Edward soon left to join the Navy. When Luke and Felicia inquire as to why they were kept locked in the crypt, Reginald enters the room and confesses to having sealed the crypt door shut. The gentleman then reveals that Jennings Sr. aided Edward in placing Elliott's body in the drawer with George's. When Edward asks Luke and Felicia if he should contact his attorneys, both Felicia and Luke promise never to say a word about the Quartermaine secret. Outside the Quartermaine mansion, Luke tells Felicia that he is departing for adventures unknown and asks if she would like to accompany him. She politely declines but offers her friend a hug in consolation. At his club, Luke telephones Herr Kreig and offers to transport "some product" tomorrow. Laura and Stefan are having a day in the park with Lulu; she has grown! Luke calls and asks to see Lulu, and Faison comes in while he’s on the phone. Faison stops in to see Luke and tells him he is glad to hear that their project is on its way. He gives Luke a folder telling him that everything he needs is there. Luke wants the rest of the amount agreed upon, says he will take it in diamonds but Faison says he will have it in cash. Faison comes back to see Luke and questions him about this place being a bar but seeing a sweet little girl with the bartender earlier. Luke tells him that is her daughter and they don't card her because she carries fake ID. He is told that Luke must be very proud of his family. Faison wants Luke to tell him everything he is up to and where he is at at all times. Luke tells him that is not going to happen, he has to be on the move right now and he will be in touch. Faison is watching Felicia and the girls play. Laura and Stefan are still in the park, he invites her and Lulu along on his next trip. She says no, she’s just getting settled into her routine, and wants to stick around town. Stefan has to leave to take care of some business. He tells Laura is family business. Laura tells him that he is missing him already. He says he can remember a time she dreaded seeing him, and was told that those days are long gone, she counts on him now. She gives him a kiss good bye. Stefan arrives home and finds Katherine visiting Helena and they argue. Stefan tells Helena that Katherine will never know the true condition of her illness, and that she should of pick a more capable person that her. He tells Helena he is going away to consolidate the family holdings and that the lawyers are glad to be dealing with him again. She wants him to stop at the lab to see about the antidote for her and he tells her that it is not on his priority list. Laura goes to say good bye to Stefan again in private. She tells him she will be thinking about him and that she is counting on him being in her life. Laura takes Lulu to visit Luke. She ask him if it feels as weird to him as it does for her. She asks him about being locked in the crypt. Tells him that Lulu depends on him so to please keep that in mind. He tells her he has to keep moving right now. Laura has told Lulu that Luke was a gypsy king and Lulu liked that. He asks if she needs any money and is told there is always money in the account. Luke is packing to leave and he looks at the picture of Lucky on his desk. He tells the picture he will see him around and then leaves. Katherine tells Helena that she’s lost Nik and asks for her advice. Stefan walks in and says that Helena’s advice giving days are over. Laura and Lulu arrive at Luke’s. Luke tells Lulu that he’s going away for a little while. Laura asks Lulu to leave the room, and then asks Luke if it worries him that they’re so out of touch. She recaps the crypt incident, asking what he was doing there. Luke recaps the story of what happened, and Laura comments that Lulu needs her daddy and that this sounds like one of their own old adventures. Laura tries to manipulate him into staying, but he convinces her that he needs to go. Laura and Lulu go, and Faison walks in. He finds out that Lulu is Luke’s daughter, commenting, “you have a daughter too.” Luke makes an interesting face. Stefan drives Kat off, and Stefan reminds Helena that Kat will never know the “true nature of your illness”. Stefan fills Helena in on how he’s consolidating his holdings in the estate. He also comments that he should really pay closer attention to the development of the antidote to her condition. Laura comes in and Helena glares hard at the happy couple. Faison and Luke talk about when Luke will be back in touch. Luke clearly resents being watched, and promises he’ll be in touch. Laura tells Stefan that she’ll be thinking about him and their relationship while he’s gone. They share a deep kiss. Luke looks longingly at a picture of Lucky as he packs his bag to leave his office, saying “See you around, Cowboy.” The camera pans in on the picture of Lucky that’s on his desk. Felicia is playing jump rope with her girls in the park, Faison in the bushes watching them. Juan apologizes to Laura for being rude when Tony introduced them. He thinks he can benefit from her guidance and the Outreach program. Juan asks Laura to convince his father to let him stay in Port Charles so he can stay with the Outreach program. Laura sees right through him. She warns him to be honest with her and not try to use her again. Laura tells him he's luckier than most kids in the Outreach program. His father wants him to live with him. She believes in the power of the family but promises to point out the benefits of the program to Mr. Santiago. Katherine visits Helena. She tells her that even though she was originally following Helena's order when she started her affair with Nik, they eventually fell in love. In the beginning, she just wanted to hurt Stefan, but she cared deeply for Nikolas. She says she'll find a way to get Nik back in her life and resume their relationship. Laura enters and says "like hell you will." Laura calls Mrs. Lansbury and asks for Katherine to be escorted to the launch. Katherine tells Laura she'll win Nik back and parade him under her nose. She tells Laura she's jealous because Katherine has had her lover and her son. Katherine tells Mrs. Lansbury that Stefan gave her permission to visit Helena, but Mrs. Lansbury says Laura is in charge of Wyndemere since Stefan is not in town. Katherine leaves. Laura tells Helena that she is finished torturing those that Laura loves, now that Katherine and Nikolas have broken up. Now the only one who will suffer is Helena. Laura leaves and Faison enters. He tells Helena not to worry. He will carry out their plan as devised, with just a few minor modifications. Laura meets Nikolas (Coltin Shore) outside at Kelly's. He tells her he owes her an apology. He asks her if what he had with Katharine was love and she says no, I don't think so. But then tells him she doesn't want to meddle in his romantic life. She also tells him it wasn't a surprise to her because she heard Katharine telling Helena about the breakup. Nikolas tells how he knew Katharine was conspiring with Helena but he blew it off and calls himself an idiot. He shows his vulnerability and asks Laura if he should always beware of hidden agendas disguised as love because he's a Cassadine. He suggests that he change his name to Nikolas Cassidy and become an accountant. Laura's advice is that secrets destroy and she found that out the hard way. Katharine manipulated him and he is a fabulous person that deserves to be loved through and through. He replies, "Spoken like a mother." At Kelly's, Liz and Laura are outside. Laura tells her the Outreach program is going okay. She goes inside and sees Felicia there. She is obviously uncomfortable in Felicia's presence and asks, "So how is it that you and Luke got locked in a crypt?" Felicia says that someone they'd never suspect, someone harmless, locked them in the crypt.Laura asks Felicia several questions about Luke. She doesn't try to hide the fact that she is jealous and maybe even a little angry that Felicia and Luke have become close and shared adventures. Outside Luke's, Katherine arrives but Laura stops her at the door, worried she may be there to see Nik. They have words. Claude comes out and asks Laura if there is a problem. Katherine backs off and leaves. Laura was offended when Felicia told her that she had been in contact with Luke. Tony comforted Laura over the loss of her marriage. Laura comes along talks to Nikolas about his feelings for Elizabeth. He assures her that they are just friends. He knows he'll always be Lucky's brother to her. Laura brings Nikolas cookies baked by LuLu. He looks preoccupied and she asks if he's okay. He tells her Katherine was over and still feels connected to him. Laura goes on a mini anti-Katherine tirade. Nik agrees and says he just wants Katherine out of his life. Laura confesses her run-in at Luke's to Nik and also tells him about her trip to the boxcar. She says him she has learned to value her living children. She tells him not to let Katherine back in his life. She makes some comments about how he always does what's right and he continues to try to look pensive over the pregnancy issue. Laura leaves. Laura has returned to the hospital and speaks to Juan's father. She tells him that the best thing for Juan is to take him home and spend time loving and listening to him. Juan's father asks her what she would do if it were her child. Laura tells him that she cannot make the decision for him. Laura and Tony rehash her behavior over Lucky leaving home and discuss Juan's situation. Laura tells Juan that she knows about his lie. He says he did it so he could have another chance at getting into the outreach program. Laura asks if he's using the program as a way to stay with Emily. He denies it and says he's really interested in the program and agrees to abide by all the rules. Laura says she'll let him into the program despite her reservations. Juan's father says he can stay in PC, but only for the rest of the summer then he must come home. |
