Luke &
Laura's Return #3 January 24 – March 28, 1994: 8 hours Lucky
sits outside of GH, waiting for Laura. Foster comes up to him and Lucky and him
begin bonding. When Laura comes out, she shakes her head no as Lucky begins
begging to take the dog home. As they go over to the car, Foster follows and
lays his head on the car door, begging to go home with them. Laura almost gives
in then tells Lucky they just can’t and he must belong to someone. Laura
and Lucky meet Luke at Kelly’s. Jagger stops by the table and introduces them
to Karen. Brenda asks AJ about the new family and he fills her in on Luke’s
reputation. Luke invites Laura to go with him to meet and negotiate with a
Russian at a club. Luke introduces Laura as “Lulu”. The Russian asks L&L
to enjoy themselves first and to go dance (Tony Geary does the hippest Russian
footwork I’ve ever seen!). After the dancing, Luke begins negotiations with
the Russian to buy his helicopter. Negotiations aren’t going well and stall.
Laura suggests dancing with Misha, the Russian, and works her magic on him to
make the deal happen. Afterwards, he compliments Luke on Laura’s negotiating
skills.
Luke is surprised that Laura went to the trouble of saving Frank Smith all of
that money. She says she just can’t resist a bargain. Luke meets with Sonny
and tells him he closed the deal. Sonny snarks, “That is not what I heard!”
He tells Luke that Misha reports that the real negotiator was a blond woman with
a million dollar smile and that she drove a hard bargain. Sonny tells Luke that
Frank was doing back flips he was so happy with how much he saved.
Laura tells Luke that Lucky has been slacking off and is not making progress in
his recovery. Lucky and Laura see Foster again as they arrive at GH for his next
therapy session. Foster runs across the street towards them when he sees the
Spencers and is hit by a car. Lucky screams in horror and gets out of the car
and walks for the first time since the shooting, and stumbles towards Foster.
Laura assures both of them it is going to be okay. She
runs into GH and calls for help for an accident victim. Steve Hardy is a bit
surprised to find his next patient is a dog! He tells Laura that the dog needs a
vet surgeon fast as they suspect the dog has internal injuries! Lucky is still
on his feet and continues to reassure Foster and is very tender with him. They
take him out to Laura’s car while Laura checks up on her suddenly walking son.
He tells her he promised Foster that he would take car of him. The
vet tells them that he has some internal injuries and a dislocated hip. Lucky
begs Laura to help the dog and she agrees to the surgery. Lucky goes in and
comforts Foster and tells him about the surgery. Afterwards, the vet tells Lucky
that Foster is restless and suggests that he can help calm Foster. Lucky sits
with Foster and gets him to lay down and relax. Laura tries to get Lucky to go
home with her. He flat out refuses to leave Foster. She tells him that he
can’t stay there all night. He points out that she stayed with him while he
was in the hospital. Laura
winds up staying with the dog till midnight, then leaves Lucky there to spend
the night curled up next to the dog. The next morning, the vet reports that
Foster will be just fine. She comments she has rarely seen such an immediate
strong bond between a dog and a boy. Lucky begins begging once again to keep the
dog and Laura agrees but warns that Luke will have to agree but the dog can come
home with them in the meantime (Luke is out of town). The vet tells them that he
is a French Mastiff, a dog of war. Lucky surmises that Luke will like that! Once
home, they decide to call him Foster (since Laura declares she has a new Foster
child). Luke comes home and as he tries to enter the house, Foster begins
growling at Luke. He closes the door and rings the bell. Laura lets him in and
when she lets him in, he complains about being greeted by the hound of the
Baskervilles. Luke is shocked to learn that Lucky is walking because of the ugly
mutt! He declares he likes the dog and bends down to pet him and the dog growls
at him again. Luke reverses his decision and says he doesn’t like the dog.
Lucky asks his dad to give the dog a chance to warm up to him.
Lucky begins selling Luke on what a great watchdog he will be and he will
protect him and Laura when Luke is away. Laura informs him that Foster is a dog
of war from the middle ages and the breed was trained to rip out people’s
throats. Luke is glad to hear the dog has a trade. Luke reluctantly agrees to
give it a couple of days and see if he and the dog can come to an understanding.
Lucky is thrilled!
The next morning, Luke finds Foster sitting in the hallway and when he bends
down to say good morning to the dog, his greeting is returned by a growl. Luke
growls back. In return, as Luke is in the shower, Foster pees in his boot! Laura
gets to know Mary Mae as she tells her about her affair long ago with
Bradley’s father (later we learn it was Edward Quartermaine). Luke also talks
to her about the disappearance of her son, Bradley back in the 1970’s.
AJ tells Luke that Damian has evidence against the family and asks him to sneak
into Damian’s room and steal it back. Luke snarks that he doesn’t even like
the Q’s, except for Lila, so why should he help them? AJ offers to pay
him $100,000. Luke asks Bobbie to distract Damian while he sneaks into his hotel
room. She calls while he is up there and tells him that Damian is on his way up.
Then Bobbie, Laura, Tiffany, and all the ladies celebrate with Felicia at her
bachelorette party. Meanwhile,
Luke joins Sean, Kevin, Jagger, Tony, and Mac for a poker bachelor party for
Mac. Luke tells Mac that Kevin is cheating at cards! Luke pulls a switch beating
Kevin at his own game. Kevin is irate and stomps off after accusing Luke of
cheating when he wins a big hand. Kevin is seen making a bomb (all very un-Kevin
like behavior)!
Luke tells Laura that he is off to CT with Sonny and will miss Mac and
Felicia’s wedding. Luke sits down to put his shoes on and Foster starts
growling at him as he doesn’t like him sitting in that chair. Luke gives in
and moves to another chair. Luke is annoyed when Sonny arrives and Foster
doesn’t growl at him! Sonny goes right up to him and makes nice and Foster is
very accepting of Sonny.
Sean is called to see Ryan in the psychiatry facility. Kevin tries to convince
Sean that he is Kevin and Ryan has escaped and taken his place. Sean believes it
is just another one of Ryan’s demented games to disrupt Felicia & Mac’s
wedding. Kevin describes in detail the night the he met Kevin. Sean is given the
results of Kevin’s fingerprints proving he is really Kevin!
Sean tells Kevin to go to his hotel room as him showing up at the wedding will
just agitate Ryan further. Sean heads over to the church, he calls Garcia while
he is en route but gets in a car accident before he fills everyone in on
Ryan’s escape. Sean is knocked unconscious and taken to GH.
Laura and Lucky arrive at Felicia and Mac’s wedding. Amy, then Paul, Jenny and
Sly soon join them. The wedding begins, little Maxie is the flower girl, Lucas
is the ring bearer, Tiffany and Robin are bridesmaids, and Bobbie is the
maid of honor. (Note: I edited some of the wedding down to just the highlights,
the complete two episode show is available separately – this was a great
wedding, lots of actions, lots of favorite characters).
As Mac & Felicia are about to be married, Kevin bursts and tackles Ryan. As
they struggle, Laura thinks quickly and she ushers out Sly, Lucky, Robin, Lucas,
and Maxie (while everyone else sits quietly in the church watching the drama
unfold). Paul grabs Ryan (who insists that he is Kevin), and Mac grabs Kevin.
Ryan gets free and grabs Felicia. He shows everyone the bomb attached to him and
threatens that he will blow the church up.
Mac jumps him, grabs the bomb, Paul calls out to him from the back of the
church, Mac heaves the explosives, Paul catches the bomb and runs out of the
church and an explosion is heard. Jenny cries in relief when Paul re-enters the
church. Ryan gets free and runs up to the balcony, Mac heads off after
him, they struggle and fall over the balcony. Tony tells Mac that he has a
broken arm and a concussion. When Mac realizes he and Felicia aren’t getting
married, he offers the church to Paul and Jenny who take their place.
Luke doesn’t go to the wedding as he and Sonny go undercover as Italian
boatmen to grab a guy on Frank’s orders and bring him back to Port Charles.
The guy admits he is a doctor, and Luke wants to know why he is working for
Frank? Sonny keeps telling Luke not to ask questions as its better he doesn’t
know about the operation. The doctor wants out and says he has changed his mind.
Everyone gathers at the Outback for the wedding reception. Bobbie compliments
Laura on her quick thinking, she explains it is years of conditioning to
immediately react. Laura offers to have Sly stay with them while Paul and Jenny
go on their honeymoon. Everyone dances to “Lucky Man” as someone plays the
sax beautifully (sorry not sure who the musician is).
Luke brings the doctor back to Port Charles and he is hidden out in a hotel. The
nervous doctor continues to avoid answering Luke’s questions so Luke brings
Foster in to intimidate him into answering. The doctor worries that Frank will
have him killed if he talks, but Luke points out that Foster is a much more
immediate threat. The doctor admits he has lost his medical license and is now
forced to deal with crooks like Frank. Luke figures out that he is a plastic
surgeon and Frank intends on changing his appearance and disappearing. Luke and
Foster bond over a t-bone steak and Foster helping Luke get the information he
wants.
Luke returns home and fills Laura in on Frank’s plan. Luke intends on stopping
Frank’s escape plan. Laura worries that they will then continue to be on the
run as Frank will be out for blood. Luke says no that this doctor is so neurotic
that if it works it right, that Frank will believe Luke is loyal to him and
Frank will wind up in a deep dark hole never to see the light of day again.
On Valentine’s Day, Luke and Lucky surprise Laura with a Spencer game show
“Is Your Heart In The Right Place?” complete with prizes. The first question
is, “What was the very first wedding band that your husband gave you made
from?” Laura correctly answers, “Paper”. Lucky is disappointed to hear
this piece of info, “Paper” he queries. Luke is thrilled Laura is correct
and reveals that she has won a new stove!
The next question, “In a barn in Beecher’s Corners what dangerously handsome
man did you sleep with?” Laura answers, “Lloyd Johnson at the Whitaker
Farm.” Lucky is shocked to hear that that his mother slept with another man,
till Laura clarifies that Luke was Lloyd, one of his aliases. Luke reveals that
she has won a new dishwasher! She is thrilled.
Luke asks Lucky where he was born? Lucky snarks that is too easy, and says,
“Texas”. He wins a CD player. Luke then asks, “Where on earth did she
spend the night before their marriage?” This one comes with a flashback of
that night as they snuggle on the dock together. When she responds, “on the
waterfront dock of Port Charles”, he reveals a refrigerator/freezer! She is
thrilled and says she now has everything she wants. She plants a big kiss on
Luke and Lucky excuses himself to go upstairs and hurl.
Later, Laura and Luke enjoy being alone together. He asks her to try out her
icemaker. She puts some ice in a cup and then notices something inside of one of
the ice cubes, diamonds! Sonny interrupts and tells Luke he has really put his
foot in it. He says that the doctor went to Sean’s and that it looks like Luke
turned him. Luke denies it all, Sonny points out that Luke was the last person
seen going into the doctor’s hotel room. He warns Luke that if Frank believes
that Luke ruined his escape plan that Luke is a dead man. Luke determines that
he will just have to come up with another plan. He later tells Laura that he
will make sure the alternate escape plan doesn’t work!
Luke gives Laura an envelope of cash for her to donate to the Ward House. She is
thrilled as that amount will really help Mary Mae. Laura goes over to see her
and give her the gift. Mary Mae is thrilled though Laura admits she isn’t
quite sure where the money came from. Laura tells her about enrolling in a
Social Worker program and asks to do her internship at the Ward House, Mary May
happily agrees. Ruby stops by to see Luke and is introduced to Foster. #2B Luke
admits to Ruby that is back up against the wall and he may have to kill Frank.
Ruby is against this idea as he could go to jail for murder. Luke visits Frank
in jail, he immediately accuses Luke of betraying him. Luke does a very sincere
job of illustrating what a fruitcake the doctor was. Frank had the doctor
watched and knows that Luke went to see him. Luke says that he knew how unhinged
the doctor was and went to the hotel to check on him and found him on the ledge.
He even went to fill a prescription of tranquilizers to calm him down. Frank
doesn’t seem to be in the forgiving mood.
Luke continues with his plan to break Frank out of jail and lays it all out for
him. Luke promises that if Frank gives him the go-ahead that he will break Frank
out of jail himself to prove that he didn’t have anything to do with the
doctor turning on him. Frank snorts at the thought of trusting Luke. Luke points
out that he has done ever job Frank has asked of him. Frank snarks that he had
help, referring to Sonny. Luke admits that is true but that Sonny is green.
Frank doesn’t have much choice and so agrees to go along with Luke’s plan
but warns him what will happen if Luke betrays him.
Sonny stops in Kelly’s for a sandwich. Ruby warns Sonny that if he ever
double-crosses Luke or harms a hair on his head that he will answer to her.
Sonny gingerly examines his sandwich before taking a bite, worried what Ruby
might have put in it! Luke joins Sonny, who complains to Luke that Ruby
doesn’t like him much. Luke fills him in on his plan to break Frank out and
asks for his help. Sonny is surprised that Frank agreed to Luke’s help and
says, “Remind me not to buy any bridges from you”. On his way out, Luke
calls to Ruby, “Put my coffee on Commissioner Donnelly’s tab!”
Luke comes home to find Foster sprawled out on the couch. He tries to get Foster
to move but the dog ignores him and Luke is unsuccessful in trying to move him.
Luke resorts to bribing the dog with a bone and dives into the couch when the
dog goes after it. The door rings and as soon as Luke gets up to answer it,
Foster jumps back up on the couch.
Sonny stops by to confer with Luke. He is surprised when Laura tells Luke about
a safe house she found while hiking with the boys out in the woods, it is an
abandoned old mill. Sonny surmises that Luke tells Laura everything but is
puzzled as he knows that she is against Luke working for Frank. She hedges that
her and Luke share everything, and Luke doesn’t have much choice where Frank
is concerned. Sonny watches her carefully as he asks if Luke’s current plan is
a setup? Laura doesn’t miss a step and smoothly assures him that it is a
legitimate plan not giving anything away. Sonny is impressed by her coolness.
Later, Luke and Laura talk about the plan in front of Ruby. She hates the idea
and tells him there are enough holes in his plan to drive his getaway car
through! Sonny returns and he and Luke go over the plan again. Luke tells Sonny
that they need someone they can trust to drive the second car that will wait for
them in the woods. Sonny suggests Stone as someone completely loyal to him. Luke
thinks he is too young and then suddenly remembers that he is Jagger’s
brother, a budding cop, and hates the idea. Sonny convinces him that he is the
best choice and Luke grudgingly agrees.
Sonny visits Frank in jail and fills him in. Frank is still very suspicious of
Luke’s intentions and doesn’t like the part of the plan that will leave him
alone with Luke. Sonny assures him that Luke is on the level. Frank suggests
that after the job that he might have Sonny whack Luke. Sonny
holds back any reaction and questions why? Frank reports there is bad blood
between him and Luke that goes way back. Sonny points out that if the job goes
off that there is no reason to take out Luke. Sonny continues that Laura is so
well connected in town and she would never let Luke’s murder go. Frank says
the only reason he wouldn’t do it is for Laura’s sake but that she is young
and pretty and she would get over Luke’s death. After Sonny leaves, it is
obvious he is disturbed. Sonny
heads over to Luke’s and tells him that there can’t be any surprises or any
hidden agendas. Luke hears the warning as Sonny tells him that he wouldn’t
want to have to take him out. Luke says he wouldn’t want to have him try. Luke
gets out his gun and cleans it as Foster growls at this development. Foster
jumps up into Luke’s chair as Luke yells at him to get down. Laura
is over at Mary Mae’s and gets teary over a picture one of the children drew.
She apologizes that she has been weepy lately and she hasn’t felt like this
since……she pauses and then she is suddenly quiet as the realization dawns on
her. Mary Mae quietly asks if she is pregnant? Laura
heads home and one look at her face, Luke asks what is going on as she looks
like she has seen a ghost. Laura tells him that she is pregnant. He is thrilled
and hugs her in joy, and she is relieved that he is happy about it as she
wasn’t sure how he would feel. Luke observes, “Look what we produced the
first time!” Laura is excited about telling Lucky that he will have a baby
brother or sister and knows he will love the idea. Luke
suggests that he would consider canceling the job of breaking Frank out of jail.
She says no that getting out from under Frank is more important now than ever.
She refuses to raise another child under the specter of Frank Smith’s threats.
She wants to be free to raise their family in peace. Luke agrees that they go
forward with the plan. Luke
heads over and tells Ruby the good news. She is thrilled for them and looks
forward to babysitting. She wants to know if the job is still on and did he tell
Laura that he plans on killing Frank himself? He says that yes the job is on as
the stakes are more important now than ever and no he can’t tell Laura about
killing Frank. He tells Ruby that he has no choice, he has to get Frank. But
Luke worries what it would do to Laura if he didn’t come back. The
next morning, Laura becomes nauseous over the smell of bread. Luke laughs that
he can understand cigarette smoke but wheat? Lucky doesn’t understand what
they are talking about. Luke tells Lucky that they feel he has waited long
enough and he will have a sibling that summer. Lucky wants to know what it is?
Luke says he is hoping for a boy or a girl. When
Lucky asks how this happened, Luke wonders if he has been lacking in sex
education. Lucky clarifies that he knows all about sex. He explains that there
were older boys at school (14 years), and they had pictures. Luke is at an
unusual loss for words so Laura steps in. She explains about the deep commitment
of love and wanting to be close to someone and creating a baby out of that love.
She does a beautiful job of communicating to Lucky that he was born out of love.
She goes on to advise him that the pictures he saw weren’t real, they were a
fantasy and he shouldn’t expect that (when the time comes). Lucky
is relieved to learn about the pregnancy as he is sure this means they are safe.
After all, his parents are smart enough not to have a baby if they were still in
danger. Luke asks if she is still okay with him doing this job? She doesn’t
like the idea but doesn’t see any option and she doesn’t want this child
growing up living in fear. She tells Luke that she has absolute faith in him.
Laura wants to plant a rose garden, and imagines sitting out in it after the
baby is born, with Luke, Lucky, Foster, and the new baby. She seems very happy
and content (other than the Frank Smith threat). Laura
visits with Mary Mae and gets emotional again. Mae Mae laughs about how strong
the hormones can be. Laura admits it isn’t just hormones, that there is real
trouble for them. Mae Mae asks if she is happy about the baby? Mae Mae says that
is the most important thing. Laura says she loves Luke with all of her heart,
and if something happened to him that she would find a way to go on but if Lucky
was killed or if something happened to her baby she wouldn’t get over it. Mae
Mae agrees that she buried two husbands but that didn’t prepare her for the
depth of pain when she lost her son, Bradley. Mary
Mae asks about what has Laura so shook up? She tells them about their past with
Frank Smith. She shares how Luke was working for Frank and that he was about to
cross over the line as he had been ordered to kill someone in cold blood. She
tells Mary Mae that she stopped him, though Mae doesn’t think he would have
done it. Laura goes on that they double-crossed Frank and he has chased them
over three continents in the last three years. She has felt guilty over not
being able to give her son any stability. She continues that Lucky is like his
father and he thrives on the excitement and adventure but Laura longs to settle
down into one place. She fills Mary Mae in on the trouble in Canada and how
Lucky had to make his way to Port Charles by himself, that is when she knew that
they just couldn’t keep running any longer. Sonny
visits Frank and fills him in on Luke’s plan. Frank doesn’t like the safe
house idea as he doesn’t trust Luke. Sonny says it is a slick plan, Frank
admits it is and it is too bad that Sonny will have to take Luke out after the
escape. Its obvious this idea doesn’t sit well with Sonny. Luke
and Laura go over the scenarios, of having money and their documents ready if
they have to leave town in a hurry. Luke gives her a safe deposit key in case
something happens to him. She worries that is the worst-case scenario. He tells
her that he believes she will be safe if something does happen to him as he
thinks Frank will honor that part of the deal. She asks if she should have
Lucky’s backpack ready? He says yes but at the look at her face, he promises
her they aren’t going to run again. He intends on making her dream of having a
home and roots happen. With tears in her eyes she says, “Promise me your going
to come back?” He laughs that he is only going to the bank. Sonny
argues for Luke, that he is a good guy. Sonny points out that he has done jobs
for him and that Luke has talent and Sonny hates to see that go to waste. Frank
doesn’t trust Luke and blames him for being in jail as Luke put him there.
Sonny points out that Luke has lived up to his end of the deal. Frank demands
that Sonny consider if he wants to continue to work for Frank’s organization?
Sonny assures him he does. Frank threatens that if he continues to argue for
Luke that Frank will start to question Sonny’s loyalty. He continues that if
Sonny doesn’t take Luke out after the jailbreak, that Frank will be shopping
for a coffin big enough for both of them! Sonny
shows up to talk to Luke and offers to wait on the porch when he isn’t home.
Laura invites him inside as it is too cold to sit outside. Sonny notices that
Laura is visibly upset and asks her if it is about the job. She tells him that
she is pregnant and she is worried that this child will have to grow up not
knowing his father. He promises her that Luke will come home okay. He tells her
that he is happy for her baby, and offers to sit outside and wait. She insists
that he is welcome to stay in the house but he says he enjoys the cold and goes
outside to wait. A troubled Sonny stands on the porch. When
Luke returns, Sonny warns Luke that when Frank gets out that Luke shouldn’t
turn his back on Frank. Luke says, “Say again?” Sonny replies that he
hadn’t said anything. Luke gets the message and says he didn’t hear anything
and says, “Thanks”. Luke goes in the house, and Laura suggests they cancel
Frank’s breakout due to the snowstorm. He tells her he can’t do that. Robin
tells Jagger that Stone is going to do a job that is “a big time thing”.
Robin got the impression that it is something important and dangerous. Robin
tells Jagger that it is schedule for today, before Jagger’s wedding to Karen.
Robin apologizes for dropping this on him the day of his wedding. He is grateful
for the information and heads out to find his brother. Later,
Luke comes out in his Marshall’s disguise and flirts with Laura. He assures
her again and takes off as she worried prepares herself to wait. Luke meets up
with Sonny and gives him his Marshall ID. Sonny warns him to stay sharp around
Frank, Luke suggests Sonny stay sharp as well. Tiffany
stops by and Laura tells her that she is pregnant. Tiffany is thrilled but as
her eyes fill up with tears, Laura apologizes. She doesn’t want to bring up
the pain of Tiffany’s miscarriage but she so badly wanted to tell Tiffany. She
assures Laura that she is very happy for her. Laura asks if Tiffany will try to
get pregnant again and she says yes that she would like to try again. She
continues if she can’t get pregnant that she would adopt. Laura asks Tiffany
if she would be the baby’s godmother? Tiffany is touched but asks if Laura is
sure that Luke wants that? Laura assures her he does. Tiffany happily agrees.
Frank and Sonny arrive at the prison and are able to get Frank released into
their custody under the pretense of a prison transfer. They are walking out of
the facility when they get confirmation that the transfer wasn’t authorized
and the alarms go off and the guys make a break for it. Shots are fired and
Sonny is hit. Luke tries to help Sonny who tells him to take off and Sonny will
meet him later. Jagger
has followed Stone and knocked him out to stop him from doing the job for Sonny.
They leave the van and Jagger puts him on the back of his bike. They take off
but when Stone passes out again, the bike crashes sending Jagger and Stone
flying. Jagger lays unconscious in the snow, badly wounded. Sean
shows up looking for Luke while Laura feigns ignorance. Sean goes to sit in his
car to wait for Luke and listen to his police radio. Laura sends Lucky out to
talk to Sean and asks him to ask Sean about every detail about police work and
how Sean became commissioner. She emphasizes every detail. He gets the drift and
realizes that he is covering for something. Laura agrees and off he goes. Luke
and Frank arrive at the old mill. Luke gives him a packet with his money and
papers. Frank demands to know where his gun is? Luke says he is the only one
with a gun and pulls out his own piece. Suddenly Frank (who has been demanding
and complaining throughout the entire escape) is very mellow, very conciliatory
and willing to negotiate. Luke is about to kill Frank when Laura runs in and
begs Luke not to kill Frank. She tells Luke that Sean is waiting in their
driveway and if he kills Frank that there is no way he will get away with it.
Frank grabs Laura and holds her info front of him, daring Luke to shoot him. Luke
makes an agreement to give Frank the keys if he will let Laura go. They make the
trade, Frank escapes, and a relieved Luke hugs his wife tightly. Laura tells
Luke that he has to take care of Sean’s questions and she will go call in an
anonymous tip of Frank’s location. Sean is very suspicious of Luke’s
involvement in the breakout. Luke is worried about Frank’s retribution, Laura
is sure that Frank will be most worried about getting away from the cops. Laura
is adamant that they stay put and they will just figure something out by the
time Frank comes for them or sends muscle. Bobbie
shows up and can’t believe that Luke and Laura are so calmly sitting in their
living room when Frank has escaped. Luke assures her that Frank is just worried
about escaping right now. Bobbie asks what about next week? Again, puzzled about
their lack of concern. Luke jokes that they could take Damian hostage and hold
him in the basement and have Foster guard him. Bobbie
tells him that she has been trying to get information out of Damian and she has
a lead about Jennifer Smith, Frank’s daughter. (History note, Luke was engaged
to Jennifer back in 1980 and it was during their failed wedding on the yacht
when Scotty found out that Luke had raped Laura and Laura had been lying to him,
he punched Luke sending him flying overboard. This kicked off the Left Handed
Boy summer on the run storyline). Luke is very concerned about Bobbie getting
involved with Damian. She assures him that she can take care of herself. Damian
is underwriting the Nurse’s Ball and Tony wants her to join that committee and
this would be a great opportunity for her to try to get more information about
Jennifer’s whereabouts out of him. Bobbie
soon calls and gives Luke the name of the casino that Jennifer owns in Atlantic
City. They head out and Laura is having an attack of jealously over his former
relationship with Jennifer. Laura begins wigging out and tells Luke she knows
that he wasn’t originally attracted to her looks, that he liked her mind and
then later he grew to be attracted to her. Luke is looking at her like she has
lost her mind (though guess that is not a joking matter in Laura’s case). He
asks, “How can you sit there with that face and say that?” Then she
completely snaps and says that he has no perspective when it comes to her
(meaning he is biased). He is looking at her again in bemusement at the mood
swings and then remembers that she is pregnant, “Geesh, no hormone problems
here”. They
arrive at the casino, and Laura plays roulette and wins. While Luke is away,
Billy (played by Tom Arnold as Jennifer’s husband) flirts with Laura at the
table. Luke and Jennifer (played hysterically by Roseanne Barr) arrive at the
same time. When Jennifer recognizes Luke, she grabs him and sweeps him into a
big kiss. She invites Luke and Laura to stay at her house and they accept. Once
there, Billy proceeds to chase Laura around while Jennifer tackles him
on the couch and wants to make out with him. Laura evades Billy and runs back
into the living room. She calls them on their relationship and suggests they
need to work on their marriage. While she distracts them, Luke finds the safe
and cracks it and says, “Jackpot”. Laura
suggests that all of the anger they are expressing towards each other is
actually passion. They look at each other and lust fills their eyes, they grab
each other as “Fever” starts to play. They forget all about Laura and head
to the couch. Laura sneaks away to join Luke and she asks if he found enough
evidence to hold over Frank’s head. He tells her that he has plenty to send
Jennifer to prison and Frank dotes on his daughter. Luke plans on making sure if
anything happens to him that the Feds will get the info on Jennifer. Back
home, Sonny contacts Luke and they meet and catch up on what happened to each
other the night of the escape. |
