Gia waddled up the steps to the cottage door and reached out her hand to turn the knob, when Nik darted in front of her and swung it open.

"Nikki, why did you do that?' Gia asked, as she dragged herself and the twins in her stomach through the door.

"Gia darling, you are pregnant, which means, I am at your service." Nik said as he flashed her a gigantic smile.

"Oh Nikki," Gia said, "You are too good to me."

"There is no such thing." Nik said as he took off her jacket, then returned to join her beside the couch. He was about to lean in to kiss her, when his cell phone rang.

Nik held up one finger and said, "I really should take this call."

Gia nodded in response as Nik pulled his cell out of his pocket and began to speak.

"Hello...yes...I....well...what about the deal with John from...oh...alright...bye."

He hung up the phone and stuffed it back into his pocket as he turned to face Gia.

"That was Ned." Nik informed her.

"I figured that much." Gia replied.

"It didn't sound like him though. He must be sick." Nik said. "Anyways, He wants me to go down to L&B to work on a deal for Juan. But if you need me to stay, I'll call him back and--"

Gia held up her hand in protest, "No, no, you should go. The sooner you go, the sooner you can come back to us." Gia said, placing a hand on her stomach.

Nik smiled at her, "I won't be long." he said, kissing Gia's stomach, then lips. "I'll see you three later."

"Bye daddy." Gia said, waving as he left the cottage.

"Madam," Andreas said, touching her arm. "He bought it. He's on his way to L&B."

"Good Andreas." Helena said, "Now hurry up and go to the cottage before Nikolas gets back. The 'accident' has to happen before he returns."

"Yes Madam" Andreas replied, as he disappeared from the docks, and made his way towards Nikolas and Gia's cottage.

"Oh Gia." Helena said to herself. "Enjoy the time you have left, for it will soon come to an end."

Gia sat still on the couch until she heard the door slam shut, and the Jag pull out of the driveway. Then she heaved herself off the couch and over to the desk. She sat down on the chair and pulled out the drawer that contained the book she had been reading for the past few months. "How To Be A Good Parent". She flipped open the hard cover of the book, and turned to the page she left off on.

"Nurture your newborn." she read aloud as she settled into the desk chair. She was about half-way down the page when she heard a loud thud come from the fireplace. Her head shot up as she looked towards the brick fireplace, searching to find what she thought had fallen over. But the fire was blazing and nothing seemed out of place, so Gia dismissed it and continued reading. A few pages into her book Gia saw her vision flash black, then it was normal again.

"What was that?" Gia thought aloud.

She decided that she was just tired, and opted to take a nap on the couch while she waited for Nik to return. She had just gotten the quilted blanket from the end of the couch and spread it over her body, when dizziness washed over her. All she could see were flashes of black, then blue, then green. Faster and faster and faster until her brain went into overload and her entire world dissolved into darkness.
