Nik held Gia's hand tightly as they walked back towards the Jag. They had some time to kill before going to the doctors, so they had decided to eat their lunch in the park.

Gia looked down at her watch. 'Nikolas, I think we're actually going to be on time today!'

'That's a first. Today Dr. Quartermaine will have no reason to be angry, because we are going to be on time!' Nik said, smiling at Gia.

Gia giggled happily as the two walked hand in hand, and Nik opened the car door for her. Just as Gia was about to get into the car she looked up at Nik and whispered his name before collapsing onto the ground before him. He quickly sweeped her up in his arms and gently set her down on the seat in the car. He darted over to the other side of the car, got in and raced to GH.

~*1/2 hour later*~

Nik sat in the hospital waiting room, with his head in his hands, when Lucky, Emily, and Zander walked in. Em immediately rushed to Nik's side and wrapped her arms around him. When he took his hands away from his face, she saw that his cheeks were tear-stained and his eyes were red. She reached into her purse and handed him a tissue, which he took gratefully. He would've gotten a tissue himself, but he was afraid that if he left the spot he was sitting in, he might lose her.

'Hey Nik, I'm sorry. How is she?' Lucky asked, with a concerned look in his eyes.

'I don't know Lucky' Nik replied, 'They won't tell me anything.'

'Don't worry Nik,' Em said, grasping his hand, 'I'm sure she'll be fine. My mom won't let anything happen to her, or the baby.'

Nik sobbed even harder, thinking about their unborn baby. If anything happened to either of them, he didn't know what he would do. Just then, in walked Dr. Q. with a clipboard.

Nik's head jolted up when he heard her come in, and he dashed over to her to find out the news.

'Is she alright?' Nik demanded.

'Nikolas you need to calm down' Dr.Q. told him, 'If you're this jumpy and nervous when you see Gia, you'll only make things worse, okay?'

'I understand' Nik said, as he slowly calmed himself down on the outside, but on the inside, he was crying, screaming, he felt like he was dying.

'Alright Nik.' Dr.Q. began, 'Gia has food poisoning. She's alright though. Have you guys eaten yet today?'

'Yes' Nik replied.

'Where?' Dr. Q. asked.

'Kelly's, but......'

Lucky gasped. 'No, it couldn't be.....'

Nikolas thoughts were identical to Lucky's. He immediately flashed back to the previous hour, when they had been at Kelly's. Elizabeth and Gia had gotten into a huge argument, but that was nothing new. Liz wouldn't......no. She wouldn't have done that. They get into fights all the time, what would make this one so different?

'Nikolas?' Dr. Q. asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.

'Oh, sorry. Yes. We ate at Kelly's. But it couldn't''t have been that, it must've been something else.' Nik said.

'Well, Nikolas, I am a doctor, and I am almost positive that that's the food that got Gia sick. I don't think it could've been anything else.' Dr. Q. analyzed.

'Oh. Is the baby alright?' Nik asked, praying that her response was yes.

'Nikolas, you don't know how lucky you are that you brought her here when you did. The poisoning didn't reach past the placenta. We pumped her stomach, and the baby will be just fine. But you have to make sure that Gia get's lots of rest, she has to be completely relaxed....no stressful activity. The baby is still in a bit of shock, so as long as Gia is relaxed, it will keep the baby calm.'

'Okay, I'll make sure of it.' Nik replied. 'Can I see her?'

'Yes Nikolas, you can see her. We haven't told her anything yet, so if you would prefer for you to tell her, that's fine' Dr. Q. said.

'Yes, I'll tell her.' Nik said. He turned back to Em, Zander and Lucky before walking into Gia's room.

'Nikolas?' Gia asked, her voice faint.

'Yes, princess, it's me.' Nik said, pulling a chair to her bedside and taking her hand in his.

'What happened, Nik?' Gia asked.

'Well, honey, you got food poisoning.' Nik told her.

As weak as she was right now, Gia shot up in her bed the second Nik said food poisoning.

'Gia!' Nik said, as he took her by the shoulders and lowered her back onto her bed. 'Gia, the baby. You have to relax.'

'Oh my god. I'm going to kill her, Nikolas. I'm going to kill her with by bare hands!' Gia cried.

Nikolas knew exactly who she was talking about.

'Gia, sweetie, we don't know for sure that it was Elizabeth, and even if it was, it was probably an accident.' Nik tried to reassure her.

'Nik, I'm sorry, but I can't believe that, I just can't.' Gia said, tears streaming down her face. 'But, the baby's okay?'

'Yes, the baby's okay.' Nik replied. 'But Dr. Q. instructed that you stay, calm and relaxed. The baby is still in shock, and as long as you're calm, the baby will be alright.'

'Okay' Gia replied. 'But Nikolas, once I give birth to this baby I will talk to Liz, and she will be sorry.'

'I know, honey, I know.' Nik said as he pulled her into an embrace, and let her cry into his arms.
