How better to start off the day than by going to Krispy Kreme for breakfast? As recommended (in our guestbook), we purchased our tickets to Graceland ahead of time. We did not realize until a few days before the trip that we would be in Graceland at the beginning of Elvis Week 2001. Now this is a big deal since Elvis used to play the 2001 Space Odyssey theme song at the start of his concerts. Needless to say, there were some interesting people to watch.

We toured around Graceland for a good chunk of the morning and took many pictures. The quote of the day must be from a woman that was leaving Elvis' grave...with tears welling in her eyes, this was the quote: "Even after all these years, it still affects me."

We toured the many gift shops while in Graceland and had lunch there also. Of course Jennifer had to get the grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich. We also hit several gift shops outside of Graceland. These gift shops are the ones that sell the things that Graceland doesn't (e.g. fat Elvis salt and pepper shakers). We finally left the many gift shops and gathered our will to go to Carlsbad, NM.

We decided to abandon our will and went to see the pyramid. While in the area, we decided to go to the visitor center - mind you it was on our way out of town. We finally re-gathered our will to leave and went on our merry way.

At around 11:30 p.m. we arrived in Dallas and set out to find the Grassy Knoll. It was found...but would be better called the "Grassy Entrance to Three Highways" at this point. The visit to the Grassy Knoll epitomizes our trip - visit everything and visit it fast.

On to Carlsbad...
