Starfleet Tactical Force: Basic Academy

Starfleet Academy is the most well known comissioning entity in Starfleet. Every year, it puts out a call through out the United Federation of Planets to call upon the best and the brightest to serve as officers aboard the starships of today. Those who excel at the academy are comissioned as Ensign Junior Grades and are assigned to assistant department heads on larger vessels or full department heads on smaller ones.

Starfleet Academy (Starbase Eight Division) has a fairly comprehensive program. Basic Training is for those people who wish to enlist in the STF. They take a few rudimentary courses, but learn a vast majority of their knowledge and trade aboard the starship on which they serve. Undergraduate courses are for those who wish to become officers and commanding officers some day. It's a comprehensive program designed to ensure that every graduate is ready to lead from the front. It's harder than basic training and takes more time to complete, but if being an officer was easy, everyone would be one. Graduate courses are for those who have graduated from the STF Academy and have moved onto higher ranks. It includes COCS (Commanding Officer Candidate School), Bridge Officer Certification and various other advanced level courses.
